I remember eating a steak and kidney pie once and finding a couple of bones amongst the meat. I thought little of it and just picked them out and threw them on the fire.

It was only afterwards that I thought about their shape which were like small mammal vertebrae. Then I thought, what kind of small mammals might accidentally have found their way into a pie making factory, and I wished I had not eaten the pie.

I don't remember any adverse digestive reactions though.

Evening each, a bitter cold day with snow flurries but little on the ground to show for it, no walk today, feeling a bit grotty, not all down to the vaccine as I ate a dodgy pizza that was too greasy for my digestion. I do seem to have a  large dose of the can't be bothered though, here's hoping a decent nights sleep will put that behind me.

Coffee?  Let's see now....

Coffee containing caffeine can cause insomnia, nervousness and restlessness, stomach upset, nausea and vomiting, increased heart and breathing rate, and other side effects.

Bear snoozes just fine on LDC :yahoo_mini:

Jeez, How much coffee do you think SWMBO puts in a cake?

fyi- she puts a large teaspoon in the cake mix and another in the buttercream. I have that much in a mug with my breakfast. Btw I think she uses decaf anyway!

I really wish the government would get Draconian on these idiots. There is certainly room for debate about the management of society’s response to the pandemic, but to deny that there is a pandemic at all, well let’s just say I would stick them in a CoVID ward at the local hospital for 24 hours and then see if they still think there is no such thing as CoVID (sadly, I have heard stories from medical professionals on the front line that there have been CoVID deniers, dying from the disease, who maintained -literally to their last breath - t!

iD

I think the issue with draconian measures is that will feed their paranoia but like you I do like the ‘Scandinavian initiative’, a sort of carrot rather than a stick.

When I was a student in Huddersfield back in the early 70's there was a curry house near the railway viaduct on Bradford Road which we knew as Chiefeys.  It was of course, obligatory to call in for a curry on the stagger back from town on a Saturday night.  At the back of the shop was a huge and filthy old upright freezer.  There was much speculation as to the origin of it's contents.  Funny that we never saw many stray animals around.

Jamie

When I was a student at Bradford in the mid 80s me and a few mates were in a curry house one evening when environmental health officers visited, we were all escorted off the premises and rumor has it that dogs were found in the fridges. Glad I always had vegetable dishes. Don’t like hot dishes anyway and I’m always weary of what they could be hiding.

I must admit we do sometimes have a Korma at home as I think I’ve mentioned before.

Had to clear the editor of some content I drafted days ago........weird!

A few snow flurries and none of the forecast wind to speak of.

Managed most things on today's list apart from ironing, don't think I'll lose too much sleep over that.

Wishing you all well, see you all tomorrow. Stay safe, well, warm and sane. Goodnight.

If you're eating right now, you might want to skip this post...

Bradford curries are stereotypical examples of 'dubious' ingredients - but at least some of the time with very good reason. However, even national companies can have problems. I never eat Ginsters pasties - not after what I found in one a few years ago. I was also involved on the fringes of a legal case where a pepperoni pizza had a little more meat than advertised (decapitated sparrow, courtesy of the factory's air/con).

I too had better not comment on Covidiots. Other than :punish::butcher:

It's been a very cold day 'oop 'ere, only the occasional snow flurry (so far?) The seaweed oracles suggest we might escape the worst of the show - but don't count on it.

Various odds and ends done. Two exhibitions we were down to attend this year had emails announcing the final decision had been taken to cancel/postpone, no great surprise in the circumstances. A few trays of seeds and compost put together for salad and flowers. For the latter, there's usually two sweet spots between the Self Assessment deadline and Valentine's Day for the early ones and St David's Day and the Ides for the later ones.

One chocolate cake baked and partially fed to the convalescent. Yes, of course I sampled it, strictly in the name of research, I had to ensure it was wholesome and up to standard...

As a Cornishman I cannot even bring myself to type nor utter that word let alone contemplate consuming their products.

If you lived in this vast wasteland, deprived of Pasties, you might just change your mind.  Unless anybody knows  a source over here.

Good evening everyone

The weather has been cold and dull all day, it has tried to snow, but thankfully it never really got started. The wind also tried to blow, but like the snow, that to failed to arrive, tomorrow may well be another matter.

The homemade decals were applied to the front of the turntable control panel and I really do think they look the business, so I'm very pleased with my efforts, essentially as they were my first attempt. I’ll make up some more for the back, so that each of the sockets can be identified.

I then made a start on ballasting the track that I’d fitted last weekend, so far 2 of the 4 roads have been done.

Tonight we finished watching series 7 of the French crime drama we’ve been watching, so we’re now ready to start the final series.
