Early Risers.

Evening All,

Hopefully an early night as last nights wasn’t a good one. Weird dream partly to blame. These are the bits I can remember, SWMBO, SWMBO’s cousin and me were stealing a vintage fire-engine from Wigan (where SWMBO’s cousin used to live) and bringing its back to Barnsley but had to do this before dawn broke. This was then going to be used, somehow,  to sink a submarine.Can’t wait for the next installment!
Laid in bed listening to the football on the radio but if I fall asleep I’d not be disappointed. Been feeling a bit off it all day and new varifocal specs aren’t helping, I’ve had them before and been ok with them. 
We’ve had youngest nephew around for most of the day as bil and sil are needing to catch up with work. Both are working from home and finding it tough going. Anyway after a sudden and heavy down pour of the white stuff it was decided it wasn’t advisable to try and get him home so sleepover for him and Sydney.

I was thinking of getting in touch with accountant to discuss Barnsley match as I know he is also a keen supporter but as the match was postponed the plan was scuppered. I know it’s a limp excuse but I did want to make it look natural, I sometimes text him about the football results. I’ll think of something.

Tension is rising in the house as SWMBO’s cousin, a COVID denier and antivaxer, is trying to spread her beliefs to mil and SWMBO and bil are getting p!ssed off about her interference. She’s already persuaded her 80 year old mother not to have it (because she loves her mum!) and now she’s sending links to antivaxer websites and publicity. What she decides to do is her own business, but trying to push her own minority beliefs on to others is out of order. Texts between her and bil are getting nasty and she’s trying to get SWMBO involved. Thank goodness she hasn’t got my number as I’d tell her where to stick the pseudoscience.

Bitingly cold easterly wind outside, certainly fitting the Beast from the East moniker! Gritters are en route across the city and our own snow plough is standing by in Paunsdorf. Snowfall is apparently expected to start earnestly after midnight. I’ll try to keep you apprised.

possibly because Scotland thoroughly deserved their win.  SWMBO early on said that I've never heard you be so rubbishing of England so early on.  She was right.  She also said that I get so het up watching England that I should stop doing it forthwith, she has a point. Elder kids can enjoy either way if they so wish.

 

Townsend was calm at half time when England were 31 up last time and has definitely justified being kept on after the World Cup and boy was he smiling - justifiably.

I completely agree.  Scotland played very well, but should have buried England earlier.  England never managed to even threaten to score a try.  They are a completely one dimensional side with a power game linked to kicking for territory and when that doesn’t work, they have no alternative.  the kicking today was woeful and just gave Scotland all the time in the world to return the kicks, which Scotland did so much better than England.  The only thing that will change the complete emphasis on power and kicking is if they get rid of Eddie Jones as coach and Owen Farrell as stand-off.  Farrell has been a good servant to England, but is totally lacking in creativity.

That just reminded me that Essex County Council have a live map app for their gritters. We don’t have  a named gritter lorry in Benfleet tonight but Gritty McGritface is working in Chelmsford. Not sure where Gritney Spears is tonight.

Mention of Stafford Ex earlier. This time last year was DL's last outing. I quite miss the buzz of an exhibition weekend. Next one *may* be Warley 2021.

 

 

 

3 years ago, Family NB were in Key West the same weekend. (On Junior's 21st birthday trip)

 

 

 

And the watching Superbowl LII in the local bar, seeing the Eagles beat the Patriots.

 

We shall endeavour to recreate some of that holiday by watching LV tomorrow night.

 

There is a lie-in planned for Sunday am.

Ah, tomorrow is Stupid Super Bowl Sunday! Which I will definitely NOT watch! I am not even sure what teams are playing although I know that it is being played in Tampa, FL. If the Baltimore Ravens were playing I might just have a modicum of interest, though just a small modicum.
