Mooring Part two,

4 hours sleep then not a lot, some very intermittent dozing.. If it happens tonight I'm heading for the pink pills  to get more sleep.

And I'll probably have some Scottish Amber liquid first anyway..

 

Worrying news, Ingram Micro Services, have shut down for 10 days due to nearly 1/4 of their 800 staff having covid.. They are technically on the same industrial estate, but the other side of a major road half a mile away..

 

 Their business is repairing mobile phones, call centre / , industrial clothing, industrial food middle man.. generally a cheap labour company..

 

The heavy rain has had it's effects on the A149, the water is flowing out of a field across the main road the full width of the field gateway about an inch deep..

 

While awake, the Brain was going round and around the reduce weight in trailer and boat loop. Some Ideas have crept in, I'll do some scale drawings later to see if they work, during todays many sit and don't move while it settles periods.

 

Time to... find my drawing paper pad.

The contents of his Co-op shopping basket started me thinking about whether or not Mr P Bear is indeed an Ursus maritimus as he claims to be. Ursus maritimus is a hypercarnivore (diet consisting of > 70% meat),  but the self reported consumption of Mr P Bear definitely makes him an omnivore,  in fact the reported shopping basket contents suggest he derives up to 90% of his dietary food energy from vegetable matter.  Which, if typical of his diet, would make Mr P Bear an Ursus arctos.  In other words, Mr P Bear is a brown bear in a white coat!

As for your last point, here's hoping.  Those so-called twats, sorry vaccine deniers would be felling pretty sorry for themselves if the virus should mutate and have a far greater effect on the young 'uns.  On a similar note, Bear is mystified at the number who are refusing vaccine yet work in care homes Hopefully such employers will start to insist that if you want the job then you have the vaccine; naturally certain medical conditions may preclude this - in which case a change of role may be in order.  And the more companies that start to refuse customers with no valid excuse (Airlines, Cruise Ships etc etc.) then all the better in Bear's book.

Morning all from Estuary-Land. Just seen the weather forecast, the beast from the east is on its way and will apparently stay for a few days. I hope it doesn't affect my jab other than getting to the place about ten minutes earlier to allow time to remove a couple of extra layers of outer clothing. The access is via a narrow side street with lots of parked cars and highly unlikely to be gritted. Now time to run a bath, be back later.

Just had a phone call saying that all BT accounts will shortly be terminated unless I pressed button 1. A) I don't have a BT account and B) it's blatantly obvious its a scam. I checked with 1471 but its from a network that doesn't transmit callers numbers.

Good morning all,

Dry here after lottsa rain yesterday evening.  The sun is shining, the sky is clear and quite blue but there's a chance of showers later on.

Nothing to report really.  A couple of parcels are due, one for The Boss and prescription drugs from the chemist for me.  I might look out of the window shortly to observe next door's Tesco delivery!

A tad late for the party but back to Route 66.  I've managed to access some photos taken from the road.

First, half way up Cajon Pass, parked on the old eastbound carriageway a BNSF train can just be seen heading down the grade. I'd got up at 05.30to get the best of the daylight in early January.

By luck, I saw 5 trains in half an hour and you could still smell the overheated brake blocks 10 minutes later. Then a bit of  Route 66 between Victorville and Barstow.

The line parallels the road here and this had just passed, heading  west down to LA.

11 units in a power move from Barstow.  The digital camera made trainspotting easy. I just snapped each unit as it came past.

 

 

So that was route 66 for me, next stop Peggy Sue's diner for a decent breakfast and loads of Shelby cars.

Dull and wet this morning in North Somerset, and have already done something wrong. I put my washing on and then went to feed this fish (tropical) only to notice that the air bubbles were very weak on the pump outlet. 

 

I cleaned out the pipes and inspected the pump, put everything back in place only to find I seemed to have made the situation worse. A more thorough inspection will have to take place later this morning. Meanwhile the fish will have to be more frugal with their oxygen consumption. 

 

I am relying on the rain to clear by the time the washing needs to go outside on the line for a few hours.

 

Then I have to glue anti-wood pigeon spikes around my wild bird food tray. This will probably not be 100% successful, but it might deter the fatties from walking around the food inside the cage (which they can't get at) for hours on end.

Good morning everyone 

 

Another bright sunny start to the day here in England’s northwest with an outside temperature of 5C at the moment. I’ll shortly start my short walk to the butchers, which is just over a mile there and back, for our weekly meat rations and hopefully a pastie for dinner. After the rations have been packed away I shall head of to the Trafford Centre for the rest of the week’s comestibles. Once home and that lot have bee packed away, the rest of the day is mine. So I may well get the easel out again and continue to draw up plans for the layouts helix.

Morning all. It is gloriously sunny here in Sidcup, after heavy overnight rain.

 

I know it won't last but I will enjoy it coming in through the window.

 

As others have reported, the Beast from the East is on its way. We may even get snow here this time, which will make a change. Mind you, there has been so much rain that it will have to get quite cold for it to think about settling.

 

There was no Autosport available on the LDC and Autosport run, so I will try again later today. LDC was purchased to satisfy Younger Lurker's cravings! Have a good day all

When I made that post and read it back I was going to change it and then thought no, let's wait and see how long it takes for somebody to comment on it.  I even had a little bet with myself as to who that somebody would be.  I was surprised that it took someone so long and no , it wasn't you so I lost my bet.

Aditi telephoned the dentist at 9.30 this morning to ask advice about a sore gum. He said he would see her straightaway. So by 9.40 she was there. She is still there. He always sees patients who have dental pain. We do like him.

Perrins used his half of the Worcestershire Sauce fortune to endow the organic chemistry laboratory at Oxford but Lea, I'm told, spent his half on wine, women, and song - which is probably code for m***l r******s. Further risking the Awl, I've been disappointed to discover that although the factory is in Midland Road, it was never rail connected and the firm did not have coal delivered in their own wagons.

I had the same dentist for 30 odd years who I really liked and he was the same and always saw someone in pain.  When he retired about 3 years ago a new young guy took over and if anything he's even better.  Strangely though Chris didn't like him* and she goes to another dentist.
