RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted February 1, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 1, 2021 (edited) Mooring Awl, Inner Temple Hare, 5 hours plus 2 hours sleep was had which is good there was a long gap in the middle.. Ben the reluctant Collie was present this morning, he added to the slight precipitation, picked up a toy he had left in the garden last night and came back in.. Road mostly patchy wet, just a couple of really soggy areas.. Especially the car park to road area in Wroxham, which is under water now complete with warning signs... Normally I see inadequately illuminated persons running or cycling around in the morning,. This morning.... Some guy with a complete fluorescent white top, obviously brand new.. it was a running light house going by... To Chris F.. Is your projected journey completely necessary? Unlike the Bloke nicked this weekend on a North Norfolk beach, He claimed he'd come to walk his dogs...... From Bristol.. that's about 200 miles.. Me thinks there is a bit more behind that story.. During the long awake period I was considering trailers again, this time order of work.. I think next weekend, weather permitting , I'll start deconstructing the old Flat bed, while on the trailer. That will considerably reduce the weight of lumps to be moved around. About 1/3, will be removed to be used almost as is, and then two or three lengths of steel cut out to use as new support struts. Before the remain bed is removed to the might become useful pile. Actually I've just thought of a use for some of it on the other Boat trailer... I'm waiting for the arrival of this weeks major system, which I'm told will be about another hour and a half. Amazon delivered a box containing two items yesterday... Only there was only 1 item in the sealed box when I opened it, sorted via refund within half an hour via Amazon support services.. good service.. But the Item is no longer available at the price £29.. and now is only available at £45.. Alternatives found and ordered.. Just more work to fix into place.. The good news Almost one percent of the UK population vaccinated just yesterday.. Time to.. Update some standard values on the next systems spreadsheet. RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted February 1, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 1, 2021 Good morning all, Very dull and dismal here and it looks like it will be a cloudy and damp day. Temperatures may reach 6°C. Rugby watched and I thought that I was going to see Quins struggle at The Ricoh. Boy was I wrong. They came out of the blocks at 100mph and kept going. All the predictions were for are Wasps win but Quins confounded that and in a brilliant game the final score was 17-49. If only they could play like that every time. Dinner was a very tasty beef casserole, so tasty that I probably ate too much but never mind. Today will see the usual attempt at walking not very far, some domestic tasks need attention and replacement house insurance needs finalising. The decorating word has been mentioned but I think I've managed to kick that into touch for now. Have a good one, Bob. 19
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted February 1, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 1, 2021 Morning all from Estuary-Land. A bit grey this morning and a bit hazy earlier but that seems to have lifted. Dinner last night was a beef hot pot, very tasty. 3 hours ago, chrisf said: Later in the week it would be a good idea to find the vaccination centre and do a dry run so as to avoid a panic on the big day. It is in a recently developed area so may look unfamiliar on first inspection. Best wishs to all Chris Chris, if I'm going into unfamiliar territory and the maps don't give sufficient detail I look on Google Earth. Quite often its possible to virtually 'drive' the route to the destination. Time to get breakfast ready, be back later. 8
RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted February 1, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 1, 2021 Good morning everyone Well, it’s a long time since I’ve said this, it’s a bright sunny start to the day here in England’s northwest, but it’s cold, currently -3C out there with a slight frost! However, I’m not going outside today, we’ll not until I do the Sainsbury’s Grand Prix after tea anyway. I’ll be spending most of the day, we’ll most of the week actually, in the cellar moving stuff about so I can get at the last sections of wall to have the paint removed. Thankfully I only need to do the bottom 18 inches of the walls as they are adjoining walls, so any damp, if any will come from below, not behind. Hopefully by t(e end of the week I should have made a start on the final phase of paint removal, I can say in all honesty that I won’t miss this task at all. But it’s been one of those jobs that had to be done. Last week when I was tanking the walls, I had a small amount left over, there was a small section of floor just inside of the outer door that always got damp when it rained, it didn’t leak in from under the door, so I came to the conclusion that it was coming up ‘through‘ the floor, in-between the slight gap of the floor itself and the doorstep. The floor wasn’t quite Level there either, so I used the bit of left over tanking slurry and used it to level that bit of floor, hoping it would cure the damp. Since it was done last Tuesday we’ve had quite a bit of rain and so far there hasn’t been anymore damp, so it seems to have done the trick! Stay safe, stay sane, enjoy whatever you have planned for the day, back later. Brian 21
RMweb Gold Popular Post BoD Posted February 1, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 1, 2021 Morning all Sunny but cold and crisp here. I really must force myself to get out for a walk. This can so easily go by the board when we are not dog sitting. Stupid thing is that once I’ve actually made the effort to get ready and go out I really enjoy it, except that I get out of breath very easily since I had the lurgy.
Popular Post Erichill16
Morning All, Bright and sunny outside so better make the most of it. Pottering about outside, or walk and a visit to work are options on the agenda. All will be revealed later. Enjoy your day, Robert. 19

Popular Post The Lurker
Greetings all from Sidcup. Grey and cold here. The weekend passed by and so did 8 pages of ERs. No chance to catch up but I did spot that both Trisonic and Smiffy were back, great to see from both of them. Friday evening saw us eat the pasta and wild boar ragu that had been delivered; a mixed success. The pasta had been overchilled but the ragu was very nice - although younger Lurker was less keen. He was however very enthusiastic about the Mexican chilli chicken with red pepper and chilli salsa that I cooked on Sunday (it's a Jamie Oliver recipe). The rain meant that there was a puddle on the ground and lawn near our copper maple, but nowhere near as big as the puddle in next door's lawn. Our lawn gets and stays very wet from September onwards. I am always amazed that Tony S even considers mowing his. Work is plodding on and I suppose I had better get back to it 21

RMweb Gold Popular Post The Stationmaster Posted February 1, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 1, 2021 Morning all, Looks like RMweb will be on a go slow at around 12.00 as it has been announced that there will be an announcement from the Irish chaps - cue umpteen thousand irrelevant posts. Meanwhile the weather outside is cloudy and damp is in the air but no rain is being forecast - at the moment. No proposals have yet been made about shopping trips although the GD might well offer her support in that direction and the G word is currently on the back burner due to low temperatures (which are not as low as they were recently but still aren't encouraging outdoor pursuits). Not sure about lunch as there is a mushroom famine in the fridge but there is cold roast beef left over from last night and plenty of chutney in stock. The latter being more than could be said of horseradish sauce last night where the lad and I were literally scraping the last little bits out of the jar. Thinking of pH's question the same could in fact be said of the bottom of the horseradish sauce jar and even teacups as well as most mugs. So there must be a reason for it and i've just checked the empty Bisto jar and it's the same. i wonder if it is something to do with the outside thickness at that point and not wasting material on the inside or is it to help filling and accommodating the quantity on commercial products? Now for something completely different. I have a liking for online jisgaws which come in all sorts of sizes and varieties although on the ones with more than c.200 pieces it is often difficult to organise them around the outside of the jigsaw you are building due to limited screen size. I came across this lot yesterday evening which might be interest to some here, you can also navigate to numerous other subjects - https://www.jigsawplanet.com/macayran/train Have a good day one and all and stay safe. 18 3

The handle is so you can hold a hot mug comfortably. 11 3 1 6
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted February 1, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 1, 2021 Hello again, the postman called about half an hour ago. With the post came one of the errant packages from Hong Kong. These days when they come out of dishwashers they still have some water on the bases that you have to tip out carefully. Popular Post jonny777
Hello from a cold and cloudy North Somerset. Temperature now 3C and yesterday's snow has gone - not that a great deal settled anyway and it only snowed for a couple of hours - but quite a pleasant change while it was coming down. The air ambulance was hovering around yesterday a few hundred yards away, but have no idea why. Nothing so far on the local news. I had a strange dream about driving a large coach, but couldn't park it. What amazed me (when I woke up and thought about it) was every time I pressed the brakes, the coach made a short hiss noise as with air brakes. I dare not think how my brain conjured that up.

Coombe Barton
Mug bottoms "The mug bottom is often not flat, but either concave or has an extra rim, to reduce the thermal contact with the surface on which a mug is placed. These features often leave a characteristic circular stain on the surface. Finally, the handle of a mug keeps the hand away from the hot sides of a mug. The small cross section of the handle reduces heat flow between the liquid and the hand." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mug 3 1

Bear's guess would be either something to do with the firing process, or perhaps to minimise the risk of sticking when being manufactured. Bear had din dins passed over the back fence from buddy next door yesterday evening: Roast spuds, yorkshire puds, broccoli, carrots, peas, cabbage, parsnip.... Michelin star awarded. Pud was the last slice of banana cake .....from buddy next door. Sure as hell beat a ding dinner, cornflakes, soup or toast which is Bear's current diet since the cooker is still disconnected - though that may well change this afternoon. Today saw the completion of plumbing tasks in the kitchen - for now at least; once the new kitchen is fitted I'll have to sort the sink plumbing and also the dishwasher. It it anything to do with stability, the outside definitely doesn’t want to be convex. 8

I was told about it by a friend who works at the factory. It worked a treat on the cieling of our lounge in France 5 years ago and hasn't shown any signs of discolouration since. Perhaps it helps that we don't smoke. If you are interested I'll dig a tin out and try and find a stock code. Jamie
