If you need it in a hurry, then the insurance companies know that they have you by the short and curlies and charge accordingly. Indeed! Apparently 23 / 24 days before insurance finishes is the sweet spot. Go too early and it'll be more. Too close to the time and it'll be more expensive too! I wasn't planning on getting a new car but the right one came along. Been pipped at the post when waiting to buy a new one before. But then I'm a bit... well, happy to wait as it gives me time to go through every setting possible (there's a lot compared with my old car!), transfer stuff from the old car to the new - no rush. Plus, the second week of February I have off so while it may seem dull not to drive it, it also affords me the time to get the garden a little more into shape! The manual was quite entertaining although I do get sad when I scroll past all the features that aren't in my particular vehicle. One day I'm gonna buy a new car and add every feature going! Had a bit of a problem getting into my e-mails earlier but it seems to be OK now. Even better as some links that seemed to be not working properly now are. Now to check that the sell by date lottery has decided whats for dinner this evening. 12

If you have the new car uninsured on your drive do have to register it as SORN to avoid the continuous insurance rule? 2

Popular Post leopardml2341
Evenin' all. Summershed doors fettled and trial fitted ok. Sanded down and now ready for painting (indoors) then final hanging and glazing next weekend; the interior will follow that. It felt slightly warmer today, maybe I was just moving around more, cos the beeb weather reckoned it was colder. Hope all are well, I won't likely be back here later, so a rather early goodnight even though I'm not turning in for some time yet. 19
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted January 31, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 31, 2021 Evening all from Estuary-Land. Still having e-mail problems. Every time I click renew it becomes unavailable but if I open it on a new tab it comes up OK although the existing tab its still shown as unavailable, but at least closing it doesn't affect the new tab. Problem is that Virgins call centre is closed due to covid and they're warning of a three hour wait. Kettle is boiling, be back later. 1

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted January 31, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 31, 2021 Good evening everyone Another dry day here in England’s northwest. The sun tried its best to shine throughout the day, but it never quite managed it. Although it’s stayed dry, it’s never really got warm, 3C was the highest temperature today, so technically it’s been colder than it was yesterday! Today I fixed the last piece of track to the turntable baseboard, I’ve left about a 4mm overhang on this piece, so that I can trim it flush with the board end once the glue has dried. I then turned my attention to powering the track, so a DCC bus was installed underneath the baseboard. For this I’ve used some self adhesive copper tape to which I’ve soldered the droppers to. Inevitably the droppers needed to cross the tape in a couple of places, so I covered these areas with some insulation tape. I then installed a 2 pole, polarised socket, so that power can be connected/dis-connected very quickly and safely, with the assurance of never being able to get the polarity wrong. I then added a connection to the bridge rails, so they are also connected to the DCC bus, the whole board will have a feed that will come from a separate reversing unit. Once done, everything was checked to ensure continuity and polarity was correct. 16 1

pH
A question - why do most cups and mugs not have flat bottoms? Most have a raised rim round the base. We have one with ‘pebbles’ on a flat base. The only one of our cups with a flat base is made of glass. Edited February 1, 2021 by pH 6 5
Popular Post chrisf
Greetings one and all Yesterday: the lamb shank was delicious and the roast potatoes nice and crisp, just like last week. Some correspondence proved to be a lengthy and difficult drafting job, the film "The Train" was a good way of spending the afternoon and the ironing still awaits attention. Today: venture out to buy the lottery tickets and post a letter, cook a nice beef casserole - with dumplings, naturally - and face up to the ironing. Later in the week it would be a good idea to find the vaccination centre and do a dry run so as to avoid a panic on the big day. It is in a recently developed area so may look unfamiliar on first inspection. Best wishs to all Chris 18
RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted February 1, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 1, 2021 Good moaning to all and Sundry. It's still windy and probably wet round here. We had an excellent meal at a friends yesterday then did not a lot when we got back. The step dragon in law rang to say that shevus finally moving to Bedford in about 12 days time, so Chrisf is going to have a new neighbour. That means that Beth's family home has been sold so some mixed emotions are around. We were supposed to have some furniture items from the house delivered by now but the B word has mucked things up. They may arrive by the end of the month. Sister Drac is due to appear about 8.30 to extract precious liquid from both of us. After that I suspect that the ironing will need attention. Regards to all.
