I have lost friends to the sea. Deep-water fishing / ocean trawling is considered to be the single most dangerous occupation when looked at in terms of fatalities percentage of total employed. Serious injuries are also fairly common sometimes requiring the evacuation by air of a crew member from a small boat bobbing around in heavy seas. That’s a very tricky scenario for all concerned not least the poor chap on a rope trying to land on a rolling and pitching deck. 2 4 1

At one point male lead offers male support lemon drizzle cake in an attempt to deflect an argument. I thought of members here, various, and hoped there was enough to go around. Oh - the verdict? About a 7/10. Some delighfully understated sub-themes including unhappy marriages, the way archaeology treats women and more. Quite well written and acted although SWMBO suggests a couple of roles were miscast. Probably worth two hours to watch again some time. 14

Bits for trailer chosen on house of strong ladies, by the time I'd finished one item had gone up from £6.50 to £9.99, now have to check whether that's the cheapest for that item again. So if UK doesn't send EU vaccine then EU won't send us vaccine? Bear confused. No wonder we have global warming. . From what I can see the vaccine production has made no difference to the products we buy but I wouldn’t think it would as the vaccine production is likely to be a different division of any company involved with vaccine production. We’re more concerned about the effects of Brexit on supplies. May be issues with the supplies of other types of vaccines. Regarding vaccine export. Each country wants to edge its bets on which vaccine is going to be the most effective clinically and which ones are going to be available first. Another issue are contraindications, for example the Pfizer one is not suitable for people with food allergies. That’s why I offered you my Pfizer vaccine, as it’s not suitable for me as I have a nut allergy. Anyway second half of football just about start. RMweb Premium Popular Post J. S. Bach Posted January 30, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 30, 2021 A rousing good morning from the Piedmont. I had my six-month check-up Thursday and everything was fine; well, I am still viewing the grass from the green side so that must mean something. They took blood and urine samples; when I got home an hour or so later, the "P" results were already posted for my perusal on the Doctor's patient portal! The blood results showed up later that evening; amazingly fast service; but then, it is all done "in house". This morning I was able to schedule my two covid shots, 25feb and 18mar. One more thing out of the way. 20

Today saw Bear cleaning out all the leccy back-boxes of excess plaster dross etc. and sorting some of the threaded tabs used when securing the sockets/switches with screws - I'd noticed some were "iffy" and very tight some months ago, with tell-tale signs of despair of the screw threads. Bear can thoroughly recommend one of these gadgets - works a treat: https://www.screwfix.com/p/c-k-re-threading-tool-m3-5-x-0-6mm/59312?tc=UB4&ds_kid=92700055262507126&ds_rl=1244066&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIi7GJ6ovE7gIVjrrtCh25swW3EAQYASABEgJA6vD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Now the light switches are temporarily refitted, along with a couple of sockets. Bear lost the scrap of paper showing the 2-way light switch wiring connections, so sorting that kept me busy for a little while..... Buddy next door phoned - he'd made some Banana Cake and would I like some? Silly question..... Whilst transfer of said contra-band took place over the garden fence he then asked if I'd like some roast spuds and veg to go with whatever I bung with it for my din dins tomorrow? Does a duck float? RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted January 30, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 30, 2021 Evening all. Just had two conversations via Messenger. One - Former Neighbour (Upstairs) was sharing the news that she is having a movie day in bed with her man (via Face Time, as he is in the USA and she just along the road from the Hill of Strawberries). It seems that a long-distance and yet-to-meet-in-person "relationship" is heading in a good direction. She deserves a kind, loving, patient and understanding chap. She hasn't had a lot of luck in that department for the years I have known her. Two - Sister alerted me to the fact that Middle Nephew, who is a hospital porter, has had a positive later-flow test for the germ and is "feeling fluey". They get daily tests and this is the first one which has come back positive. A lab-test result is now awaited meanwhile the household has to isolate per government instructions which at least means Sister gets two additional weeks away from the classroom albeit she can still do some of her job from home. BiL works from home anyway. The sting in the tail? Nephew was the first in the family to be vaccinated a few days ago but possibly not quite in time - or it hasn't kicked in in time to prevent infection. The possible light in the tunnel is that these lateral-flow tests have a higher than lab-test rate of false-positives and suggestions have been made that they tend to give a false-positive when influenza is detected. We are not expecting anything other than confirmation of a positive result. SWMBO is making noises in the kitchen suggesting pots and pans are being used. I suspect cooking may be involved. I had better go and offer help because her definition of cooking always requires me to do at least half the work. 1

Not seen that one but I did see a piece this morning in the reputable press suggesting those of certain beliefs are refusing the vaccine until they are satisfied that it is Kosher, Halal, vegan or any one of several other requirements. Vaccination is not mandatory. I also read a piece suggesting that measles would have an R-number of 13 if unchecked by vaccination. Even today not everyone is vaccinated for what was once a routine, if nasty, childhood illness. Currently for the UK the Covid R-number is between 0.6 and 1.1 varying by region and with London at the lowest end of the range. It reached what? 2 or 3 at the peak of the first wave before we knew much about the critter. What ever the stats I am happy to take up my offer of vaccination as soon as it comes. Personally I would rather risk blue hair than illness, I have no need to consult the Rabbi or other spiritual leader and the only foods I don't eat are seafood and mouldy food*. But to each their own. * Certain intentionally-moulded cheeses and some fish dishes excepted. 20 1 1

My team managed to wrestle a draw out of the jaws of a win.. they really do need a new player who can kick that round object into the oppositions goal! My sister had her jab yesterday. She has not developed blue hair, green skin with yellow blotches etc but has a slightly saw arm. Good list of beers there @petethemole.. our Aldi is non walking distance and I reckoned the car park would be extra busy so no chance of enjoying some interesting beers. Still got some Saltaire Brewery beer to finish. Had a little eyelid inspection earlier.. now feeling tired so an early night may be in order. The use by date lottery turned up toad-in-the-hole for this evenings dinner, and some veg to go with it. An examination of the fridge contents also turned up an extra mature portion of Stilton cheese. The use by date was 2017! A further examination and into the bin it went. As for things stuck up posteriors the stick of dynamite seems like a bit of overkill as a cure for constipation. Sir TophamHatt
I have a 14-day pause period with the new car as insurance renews in 14 days (Valentines Day!). I'm a bit tight so didn't want to pay the £60 or whatever it was to change existing insurance to cover that car so It can sit on the drive for a couple of weeks. Free tax so not worried about renewing that early. Ironically the insurance renewal is with the same insurance company that covered my old car (only £20 more). But get this! Confused.com offers a free £20 "gift" when buying insurance so went through them when buying cover for old car for the year. Now I've cancelled that (as I won't need it for the old car) but Confused.com has already given me the code for the gift I chose (£20 at Dominos!). I may have inadvertently scammed them as I'll be able to claim a new £20 gift for setting up a new policy for new car, with old insurer! And both of those come with £32 cashback! That'll pay off a little of what I put on the credit card at least. / Day over! Edited January 30, 2021 by Sir TophamHatt 13 1
