It was developed by Bosch in the 1980s and in production in the 1990s. It was a very good idea for vehicles in the 1990s and 2000s and I believe it is the most widely used automotive networking bus. It's extensively used for on-board diagnostics. LIN is also used for very low bandwidth applications (like door locks, windows, mirrors, etc). CAN is a serial bus and without additional encryption layers has low security. New ADAS appliances stress the bandwidth of traditional, serial, in-vehicle networks like CAN. While automotive manufactures suffer terribly from "NIH"* (second only to aerospace manufacturers) in-vehicle network standards are widely adopted. While they help reduce signal wiring mass they don't solve the exploding cost of software and electronic content. * not invented here 9 1

Near enough to London to get London in its name. However it was too radioactive due to all the trimphones dumped there. The glow in the dark feature was responsible. IIRC it was Disney but they went to Paris instead. I don't think that it was anything to do with trimphones, more to do with red tape. In fact Basildon's twin town in France, Ville de Meaux is right next to Euro Disney. 7 9

Still experiencing random balance problems though, referral to a new specialist in place. Hope you continue OK. My scan is next week, which is quick. The tablets seem to be working already. I did something out of character today and looked them up on the interwenby thing. It turns out that the effect of stopping dizziness was discovered by accident with mice in 1957, but no one has a clue why they work to this day. The other plus side of the scan is that it might discover if I actually have a brain. Several people over the years have suggested that I don't. Goodnight all. When wevlooked at it we were already using the 1553 data bus for other system in Armoured Fighting vehicles to reduce cable weight and also to get better plug and play facilities in the systems we were designing. Sir! I'm here Sir! * Far too much life getting in the way today. A new trainee was entrusted to my gentle coaching care at the House of Fun; if anyone showed less interest in a job they might be mistaken for a shop mannequin. That made the morning harder than it needed to be. Trying to engage, never mind enthuse, someone who clearly wasn't interested was demanding. Quite how and why this person managed to get through interviews and assessments escapes me. Not least given the fact that we currently have many more applicants for most external-entry vacancies than we can manage. Were all the rest even worse? Or what? Which part of "Watch the train" suggests that the person is required to turn their back, walk away from me (and the train) and gaze into space? And in what universe is the answer to the question "Which colour of signal must not be passed by a moving train?" ...... wait for it ...... "White???" Hopefully new starters are employed with a probationary period? Bear has been babysitting the plasterer again - he should be finished by lunchtime tomorrow. I spent the morning researching cooker extractor hoods (though mine will need to work in recirculating mode as an external vent isn't possible) - I never realised that such things could be so complication. Decisions, decisions. I also signed up to a month's trial of Which? Magazine for a fiver, as this will help no end with test reports for products for the new kitchen (hood, hob, oven.......). I'll cancel after a month, once I've downloaded as much useful info as possible..... Bear's Thought for the Day: How come wet plaster is capable of covering the house in a fine layer of dust?? I do seem to have minimised (or even escaped) any transfer upstairs though, or into the conservatory. Mystified... 1

I don’t know if it is different now but a lot of the hoods looked similar. The filters for ours also fit a few other makes. There is quite a lot of badge engineering going on. We bought an Elica who seem to make them for a lot of other manufacturers. Ours fits into the unit above the hob. We chose it as you could mount the controls remotely. Aditi wouldn’t be able to reach the switches otherwise. Being able to wash the grease filters in the dishwasher is nice. RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted January 28, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 28, 2021 Good evening everyone A fairly relaxed day, spent mostly in the cellar and a little more progress has been made. I was surprised at how quickly this section of wall has dried. It’s not fully dry, but it’s drying a lot quicker than the last section I did. I could possibly move some stuff about tomorrow, if it’s completely dry, but I’m going to wait until next week, just to make sure. So far today’s tasks include; Floors swept - check. Floors mopped - check. Tools and equipment put away - check. This now means I’m not leaving ‘grey dusty’ footprints about the place. Once that lot was done, I found time to alter the font for the turntable decals. I’ve found one that’s almost, but not quite identical to one of the SR type fonts. A suitable colour was then chosen and a test print (on ordinary paper) out done. These will be cut out and placed on the control panel at the weekend to see how they look in position.

Popular Post chrisf
Greetings one and all When my street was built, in the 1880s, no-one could have foreseen the proliferation of horseless carriages 140 years later, still less the behaviour of those who would drive them. Yesterday a Land Rover pulled up outside my house. It was towing a chipper for lopped tree branches. Car parking spaces are always at a premium where I live and there was not enough room for the landy and chipper without encroaching on the pavement. Such was the angle at which the combination came to rest that it blocked access to my front gate from both directions! How was I supposed to get out? I put this question to the occupants of the landy. They had come to perform surgery on a hedge and a tree in Mrs Electric-Chair’s garden next door. They uncoupled the chipper and asked me if I would move my car to allow room to manoeuvre. Grudgingly I agreed, for when the arboreal work was completed the landy and chipper would depart and I could move my car smartly into the space vacated. Four hours later all was as it should be. It is not always that easy! Best wishes to all Chris 12
RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted January 28, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 28, 2021 Good moaning from a damp part of the world. The tablets seem to be working but the boss has decreed a day of doing not a lot. I have been allowed one job, namely to cook a stew for tea. I am going to enjoy that. I might even finish an article off and do a bit of reading. Not a lot else to report. Regards to all. Jamie 20
