Oh, and these. Happy? Pleased? I should potato!! I think the bit in the interview when she mentioned to the Director of Transport that she could drive a steam loco and used to do so at a passenger carrying miniature railway may have clinched it. First administrator to be able to do so apparently. Whoop! Congratulations! Once she has got known and liked within the department her first task is to convince all in the department that reopening the Peel line is essential to the economy of the island and once that is done she can do the same for the Ramsey line. I WISH! Edited January 15, 2021 by Chris116 11 5 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted January 15, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 15, 2021 (edited) Well done Mrs NHN she must be.. well chuffed! If you look at my snow view photo of earlier today you may notice a stone milepost lurking on the other side of the road.. well a man was driving up the road far too fast (it is a 40mph limit) when he decided to flatten said post.. His BMW is now resting on said milepost and looks like it may be a front end right off.. as no one other person was involved.. no police presence and I think he may have been taking some falling down juice to get through the day. Either that or he was on the phone.. Car is still there with its warning lights on.. and now it is freezing again.. It is sticking out into the road.. this will end badly I think. Has Mrs NHN had the pleasure of telling her existing bosses where to wedge it yet? In other news: Bear has been setting up his new Router...the man at Plusnet has managed to talk me into going for fibre broadband, as it'll only cost me another three quid a month. So far the BT speed test tells me it's....exactly the same as the old bog standard cheapo broadband I was on......hmmm.... Hopefully it'll get significantly faster as time goes on and it learns what's what. Otherwise I'll be making a phone call.... 2 6

Upgrading to FTC (fibre to nearest green cabinet) it is usually 65Mbps. That is with BT. The BT router according to the literature takes a while to settle to a stable speed, I have no idea what Plusnet supply. I don’t think fibre to the house is available here yet. 7 1 6
RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted January 15, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 15, 2021 Poly, her immediate boss is fine, he's a nice lad and VERY competent (and also looking for a new post, but he is pencilled in for something due to a big reorganisation under way). It's HIS boss that is the issue, she has however been 'informed' that a replacement is required. Peace is currently holding, but it is suspected Monday morning may bring....a reality check. Snigger. Someone else that has been stirring it is going to get a BIG shock then too. 19 1 2

Ian Abel
Question for ERs, partly because I'm bored and have about a 1/2 hour of snoozing in place before I can POETS, with the client now gone quiet for the day; Why, oh WHY, is the travel ban taking effect on Monday and not immediately? Surely if you need the ban to secure against the new strains, giving it another 48 hours seems a bit pointless, isn't it? RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted January 15, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 15, 2021 Evening all from Estuary-Land. Time seems to have evaporated today, or I'm getting a lot slower. Probably the latter. No sign of any snow yet so with any luck it will give us a miss. If we do get it it shouldn't last very long anyway. 1
Popular Post Erichill16
Evening All, Congratulations to Mrs NHN, I hope she enjoys the job better than the last one which by the sound of it won’t be too hard. Usual sort of day, bit of paperwork, a few domestic chores, tea, a large bottle of pironi and a couple of films. Only difference today was I had a migraine straight after dinner (lunch to some) so that knocked me back a bit, it effects my sight and balance but no headaches, so didn’t go for a walk. Pity really as it was a nice sunny day and it looked beautiful outside with all the snow around. Reminded me of the holiday in Switzerland I may have been having now except for the ruddy virus. Ive had no phone calls from work so I’m assuming things are ok. Last night I phoned and told the manager I’d be happy(ish!) to come in and help out. Snow still quite thick out here and wearing my wellies for any length of time makes my ankles ache and sliding around on the ice/snow doesn’t help my balance. Anyway I’m happy with the work I’ve got done and subscribed to one of my special interest societies. Two down, two to go. GDB mentioned cruising, we’ve got a cruise booked for May but I’m not sure it’s going to happen or if it does whether we’ll be on it. It’s a trip from Southampton visiting the Atlantic coast of France and northern Spain. Enough rambling for one night, goodnight, Robert, 2

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted January 16, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 16, 2021 Good evening everyone It never really warmed up today, it was -3C this morning as I was eating breakfast by dinner time it had risen to -2C, by early evening it had risen further to the heady heights of 0C, it’s now 1C. Anyway, this morning’s trip to the butchers was successful, their cooked meat slicer was back in action so a weeks supply of roast beef and roast ham now sits in the fridge. Unfortunately there were no pasties today, so I had to make do with one of their (gold medal winning) pork pies, it’s a hard life. Once back home I made and drank my second muggertea then I set off to the Trafford Centre. However, at this point I deviated from my original plan and drove past Costco to see what the queue to get in was like, surprisingly it was non-existent, so I called there first, got all the necessaries and then went on to the Trafford Centre. Everything on the lists I had was acquired and I was still able to get home for 12:30. I assume that the cold weather put people off! Once everything had been packed away we had dinner, I had the previously mentioned pork pie, whilst Sheila had a bowl of soup. Then, for a bit of a change, we spent the afternoon on the sofa where we watched the latest film in t(e ‘Fantastic Beasts’ franchise. It wasn’t bad, it was well acted but it isn’t really my thing, still, Sheila enjoyed it and it does free up a bit of space on our digi-recorder. Neil. Congratulations to Deb's on her new job. 23

Popular Post andyram
Evening all and a congrats to Mrs NHN on the new job. I hope today finds you all well and safe. Today (well yesterday technically) was another which followed the same pattern. A struggle to emerge from bed and kick start the body into life, was followed by a morning of supervising Amber’s home schooling whilst trying to also do my own work. That is never easy and can be fraught. Amber did not sleep well last night so was tired and emotional to add to the issues. In the afternoon I was out to the Post Office to dispatch more orders followed by a drive to the shop to collect yet more stock for orders. There was a detour to drop off my niece’s birthday present. A brief, socially distanced, doorstep visit. In the evening I spent time unpacking the Bachmann delivery so I am now the (hopefully) temporary owner of some EFE Class 58’s, Motorail GUV’s and Thomas rolling stock to name but some. The new fencing range will be unpacked tomorrow and added to the website. Amber has slept better tonight so I have managed to actually switch off for an all too brief spell. Much needed all round. I note the subject of holidays has appeared on these pages. We have made no plans yet. Usually we aim to get away at the of end July / beginning of August. We hope by then it may be possible but have not thought it through yet. Even the possible locations have not been muted. Last year we did manage a last minute break in Whitby after our planned holiday let, in the same location, went bust and cancelled on us. After the difficulties of the foster placement we definitely needed the time away despite the fact we had been there the year before. I would happily return again and, as many of you know, I would move there given the chance. I somehow think the girls may fancy a change of scenery so we may look at locations down south. Time will tell. Stay safe. Andy Edited January 16, 2021 by andyram 2 1
