RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted January 11, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 11, 2021 Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Went to Tess Coes today. As well as the groceries I had to buy a new hose and head for the shower, should be a simple job to do. Managed to forget a couple of items but they were not essentials so no worries. Tea is poured so I'll be back later. 20

RMweb Gold Popular Post Dunsignalling Posted January 11, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 11, 2021 Busy day. Tesco at 07.20 - fewer than one customer per aisle! Second time recently that I've gone on Monday; it seems much quieter than Thursday which is my habitual day. Yeti getting sluggish to start as it's only got out of town once since Xmas! Home for breakfast then Mum's new TV delivered by DPD. Helpful driver put it straight in the car for me. Timed arrival at Mum's for noon to ensure her home help had finished and left. Set up was a doddle and on my way home by 13.00. Visited bank on way back to pay in cheque and home for a late snack lunch. Hopefully the battery now has a decent charge. Put the snooker on at three, but I must confess I only saw bits of it! John 23

RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted January 11, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 11, 2021 Good evening all. Hopefully this post will see me back on the site. All day I have been unable to clear the editor of a previous post on the iPhone and have had a black screen on the desktop. Let’s see what this does. I would cross my fingers but Alf Rytus makes that uncomfortable. 1

If the teacher had provided the information on a worksheet perhaps it was an unfortunate cut and paste error. However if it was in a discussion I do wonder too. 8
RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted January 11, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 11, 2021 (edited) Evenin' each, Went for a walk but only for just about a mile around the local rec. That's enough for my undercarriage at the moment. Still didn't get to The Shed, maybe tomorrow. Just spent an enjoyable hour "zooming" with old schoolmates. One caught Covid from his sons just after Christmas but seems OK now. It certainly hasn't affected his ability to talk! Another, who only lives a couple of miles away, has invited me to join his pub quiz team (when we can visit pubs again.) As said pub is within (my) walking distance I have accepted. I'm just waiting for The Boss to finish watching a couple of her interminable soaps and will then dig out a film to watch. RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted January 11, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 11, 2021 Evening all from Estuary-Land. Had a test fit of the new shower hose, everything OK except the new shower head that I also bought. The problem is that the old shower head is a completely different shape. It came with its own wall fixture that is fixed to the wall about four feet above the bath. The new shower head will not fit in the fixture, its too wide at the base. Tomorrow I will have to refit the old shower head which at present is soaking in limescale remover. Its now persisting down outside and more than a bit breezy but the forecast says it will be gone by morning. Time to put the kettle on, be back later. 2
RMweb Premium Chris116 Posted January 11, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 11, 2021 Sometime ago I am sure that there was another thread along the lines of ER but which allowed talk about modelling. I think it was called "Night Mail" or something similar. I started following it along with Early Risers but realised about a month ago that I had not had it come up on the list of threads that I follow and had messages that I had not read. After trying various searches I cannot find the thread! Can anyone tell me if it has been taken down for some reason or what the correct name is so I can find it once more? Thanks in advance. 6

In attempting to avoid that, this is what you have to go through when you land here, if you are allowed in. https://edition.cnn.com/travel/article/australia-quarantine-travel-ban/index.html On the plus side, you do get a police/military escort to your hotel., like you're in The Beatles in 1964. Actually, you'd need to be in The Beatles to afford the airfare. With numbers reduced further to 3000 nationally a week, capped at 80 per flight, airlines are recouping losses by invoking supply and demand and charging everyone business class airfares. Consequently,, those who have been here recently might be interested to know that a one way ticket from London to Sydney will now cost you 7500 pounds, from LA its nearly 12000 pounds if you want to secure a place. There is currently a 12 month waiting list of expats and those wanting to escape the rest of the world, but for many people this is in practice indefinite as they find the place they've booked months ago suddenly getting bumped in favour of someone else with deeper pockets. 3 10 2

Its still there, I only discovered it myself a couple of weeks ago. It appears on my listing as I've set it up for threads that I've posted in. To find it again I would suggest going into topics/wheeltappers where it will be listed. When you get in just make sure that you click the 'follow' button. 5 1 3

Popular Post Simon G
Evening all, A busy and varied day. the bathroom door had to be removed as it was catching on the floor tiles. While removing the door, I realised that the problem was due to the door hinges suffering from wear so that the door had dropped about 1-2 mm from where it should be. New hinges required next time I am in town. This afternoon, the rain relented, so we had a brief walk out. I can’t say that it was too pleasant, but at least it was fresh air and exercise! On the topic of exercise, Cumbria Police reported over 550 breaches of the lockdown regulations, with people coming from as far as Sheffield and Northampton! Out of those, only about 60 were issued with fixed penalty notices, so it seems the Police were quite lenient! Yesterday I made a start on layout ballasting, and just did a short test section. On checking it today, I could still see some parts of the blue underlay, so realised that I hadn’t put enough ballast down. Message to self - only ballast with lots of decent light! I will try some more tomorrow and see if I can do a bit better. 7

Fortunately there was no much in the way of a queue. 3 hours ago, Dunsignalling said: Visited bank on way back to pay in cheque and home for a late snack lunch. Bit of a coincidence here as I also went to pay a cheque in - the first for a very long time. In fact I had been waiting for this one for a very long time as it represented a manufacturer's cashback offer for a new caravan we ordered at the NEC show in February (spent the small inheritance for my Dad). The caravan was due to be manufactured in March with delivery in April but of course lockdown put a stop to that and the van was eventually built at the end of July and collected by us mid August. The cashback offer was about £500 and was to come direct from the manufacturer so we gave the dealer all of our details and waited - and waited - and waited. A few phone call reminders were made and then they went into lockdown again so we waited until I got a bit cross and emailed the sales director at the dealers at Christmas. He contacted the manufacturer after the holiday to discover that it was his salesman who had not sent in the right paperwork. Corrected immediately and a cheque arrived the next day. I was then out of town at a funeral so I tried to pay the cheque in on Friday - to discover the bank now closed at 2.00pm (Why ?) Now no longer open Saturday so today was first opportunity. I also discovered that they don't change any money without it going into an account - I had a few bags of various coins - all in the correct denominations so they could be weighed but they wouldn't give me a couple of notes in exchange. It had to be paid into the account and then drawn out again - why as this created a lot more work? Mike 5
