Popular Post leopardml2341
Almost all mi objectives for today achieved except for summershed work; did some housework type stuff instead. Just watched a programme on C4 about something unmentionable in Scotland presented by Julie Walters, not 'special interest' per se but more of a sociological anthology of tales associated with the 'unmentionable' quite interesting and easy to watch. Might not check back later, so just in case, although it's early I'll wish you all a good and trouble free night. 14 1
RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted January 10, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 10, 2021 I can only have water after 10pm tonight as I am having a fasting blood test tomorrow morning. This doesn’t really bother me but Aditi is very sympathetic as missing breakfast would be a major upset for her. She always enjoys breakfast. Aditi’s brother rang today for some advice. I thought it would be about the new laptop he had got yesterday for his 8 year old but it wasn’t, it was about routers. He had pressed reset on their router and none of the 2.4GHz wireless devices connected anymore. I thought I did quite well talking him through connecting via Ethernet to the router control page for a router I knew nothing about. He is very good at following instructions. Everything seemed right but I suggested setting the 2.4 GHz channel to 11 instead of auto and everything worked. I have no idea why it worked. 20
Popular Post simontaylor484
I thinned down my book collection quite considerably the early part of 2019. Sone went via ziffit which payed via paypal which was then used to buy unmentionable products from eBay. A couple of boxes went to charity shops but i got the impression they didnt really want them. They were just fiction and gardening books and kiddies books. I have loads of stuff for a skip building up but that's a job for when im a bit better i do keep feeding some out in the bins every fortnight. With not been able to drive for medical reasons at the moment its hampering efforts to go to the tip never mind self shielding and lockdown 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted January 10, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 10, 2021 Half watched the Julie Waters thing, it was a repeat. I missed Anneka's thighs unfortunately! Mrs NHN just about calmed down after this morning's job issues, the outcome tomorrow morning when she speaks to HR will be unobserved as I'm having a photo taken of my hip down the cottage hospital. I will return gingerly.... We also have far too many books, railway and others, which we periodically try to prune down but it just results in a new pile of things to re-read. Any excess railway books go to Groudle Glen where they always seem to sell quite well, there are limited opportunities here to buy such things is perhaps the difference. 7
Popular Post Winslow Boy
May I pour some oil on the troubled waters viz a vie the mass vaccination centres as I have attended one and was very impressed with the efficiency of the entire operation. Ours was in a sports centre and from start to finish we were in for no more than half an hour. We weren't allowed in until we were masked and our temperatures taken. Our details were checked and everybody kept there distance. I can't speak more highly of the way it was organised compared to our surgery who basically closed and have managed to now make it impossible to contact them by deciding to upgrade their computer software- started on 10 Oct, supposed to finish on 26 th Oct but still not working, no contingency plan in place (answer phone message says its going very well, but very busy as everybody keeps ringing them up!!!!!!) 14 2 2

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted January 10, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 10, 2021 Evening all from Estuary-Land. If there's a pile of old books for sale I generally give them a look and from time I come across a gem about some obscure line that I never knew existed.

From his bunker at South Zeal on Dartmoor, Jim Causley has sent "Devonshire Roses", a set of 20 Devon songs of very mixed parentage. As an old Devonian, always interested in such lore but never heard of this artist. I know a few of the songs though, having heard them over the years but others are new to me. Thanks for the info. Popular Post Erichill16
Eventing all, Another day another disaster movie, tonight ‘Passengers’. Having said that, more of a thriller but nevertheless a plane crash was involved. Not done much today, only been outside to take the rubbish out. MY team was on tv at 1:30 which makes going for a decent walk difficult as we don’t get up early and it would be too dark after the match. Anyway my ankle is playing me up, too much use on uneven ground lately so SWMBO went while I watched ‘the big game’ . Team won so we’re in the bag for the next round. I need to get my finger out tomorrow, get the Vat sorted and I’ve a few ‘special interest’ societies that need memberships renewing. I could have done both these jobs weeks ago but just can’t find the enthusiasm. Enough for one night, Goodnight, Robert 6 2

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted January 11, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 11, 2021 Good evening everyone The weather has been very dull and wet all day, we’ve had drizzle on and off for the most part. This morning I altered all 15 circuit boards I built to delay the start up of my servo control boards, adding the power leads to them when I’d finished. Once that was done I moved all the stuff that I’d transferred to the cellar from the workshop a few weeks ago, back to the workshop. I managed to get this all done just in time for dinner. After dinner I looked into where I could fit a bypass switch in the turntable control circuit. Once I’d settled on where, I rigged one up temporarily so see if it worked. It worked well and so did the circuit that enables me to adjust the speed of the turntable bridge. After a few experiments, I settled on one revolution taking 1 minute 45 seconds. The slowest I got it to was 3 minutes 40 seconds, but that was far to slow. The quickest I got was just over 45 seconds, which was far to fast, for me and anything faster than 1 minute just didn’t look right. Once happy I then removed the temporary switch. I wasn’t sure whether to fit the switch on the fascia with all the other controls, or leave inside the panel, as it would only be used when setting the speed up is required. But on reflection, it might be more useful on the fascia, so that’s where it’s going to be fitted. So I made a start adding some permanent wiring, so far it’s about half complete, I’ll finish it off next weekend. 19

Popular Post chrisf
Greetings one and all The nice people who let me have a CT scan instead of a colonoscopy last month sent me one of those wretched 'how are we doing?' questionnaires to complete. Normally they go in the bin but on this occasion I had something positive to say and ticked the relevant boxes. With it came a window envelope. Could I find a return address to show through the window? I had to write the address on the outside of the envelope, which does rather negate the purpose of the window. I must remember to post it this morning when I take my quota of exercise and stroll to the convenience store to buy my lottery tickets. Apart from that, yesterday was almost uneventful. The leftover casserole should do me for two days. Yesterday's serving was accompanied by the bottle of London Pride that was left on my doorstep before Xmas. In the evening my phone pinged. It was Harry, who had finally got round to reading the messages left for him in decreasingly recent weeks. Amazon still keep him very busy. He says that he is enjoying it. I fear that he will burn himself out and told him as much. I can do no more except stop worrying, which is not that easy. I am still concerned about my aunt, no less so after a call from cousin 88C over the weekend. Neither of us knows all the details but it's not looking good. Best wishes to all Chris 1

Purely theoretically you understand (Big Awl n' all that...) but what method do you employ to stop such a circular mechanism at precisely the correct position? In other news: 1. The man from the met reckons on 7 degrees C in Bear Land, so a dust sheet is currently being washed in the forlorn hope that it might just stand a titchy chance of drying a little on the washing line.... 2. Wash Car. Yippee. Not. Assuming the hose isn't full of ice, that is. 3. Not sure what next - depends on the duration of Number 2. (That's Number 2 above, rather than a Number 2.....). 4. Din dins 5. If I'm feeling keen, fit some ply battens around the kitchen doorframe. Various visits to RMW may be encountered along the way..... Have fun.
