RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted January 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 8, 2021 A'noon. Went to the Pharmacy to get the latest round of Arthur Itis supressants, had to queue for 25 minutes to get in, then another 30 minutes outside waiting for it to be dispensed. It is 0c on Parliament Street. The car was miles away. Arthur is now twice as bad.....pah!

Reference the top paragraph I accept the bit about photographic gear (though I tend to shop much “higher end” than these ads imply) but it’s been many a long year since I ventured into purchasing frilly undies; so long ago in fact that online shopping wasn’t a thing - you either shopped in person or via a mail-order catalogue! 6 13
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted January 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 8, 2021 @BoD in 1963 I was 5 and walked to school... through the snow piles! I never felt cold but I remember how deep the snow was and how quickly it stopped being pristine white! In the North West Leeds Highlands it is very rare for snow to stay long. When the buses stop running.. then it is time to get the provisions/snow shoes/skis ready. Only happened twice in 34 years of living here. Popular Post The Lurker
Greetings all from Sidcuo where there is no snow and no prospect of it. I would quite like to see some for the rarity value; it's not as if I am going anywhere to get disrupted. I do remember when I was a student in Leeds the snow lay on the ground for the best part of six weeks one winter; it was cold and dry after the snow - I guess the Pennines rain shadow operating - from memory about 34 years ago..... after a few days, it was just grey icy patches. Mrs Lurker has completed a week at school and is shattered. They are experiencing a lot more children than the first lockdown and it is generally those children where there parents want rid of them from the house - yes i know your Mum works for Dominos and they are part of the food chain but really...? Yes I know your Dad works for a loo roll factory and that is vital but Mum is at home... Still apparently the boy that upended the desks three times yesterday was under Mrs Lurker's direct supervision all day today and her thumb tends to remain well pressed down. No desk were up ended. We are having a variant of bangers and jacket potatoes for tea; one of the two foot long pigs in blankets we bought for Christmas has been defrosted and placed in the oven with the the spuds. The smell is wafting up the stair from the kitchen and making me hungry! 18

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted January 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 8, 2021 Afternoon Awl, of course when trudging through to snow to primary school, the required clothing was grey shorts , socks , white shirt plus school tie, grey pullover. All covered in a black Mackintosh, plus wellies... Shoes, black leather, polished had to be carried. So you know where the snow went ...over the wellies, making your socks soggy for the rest of the day. Those optical illusion tops have been appearing on my view here, but I've never bought anything like it. You just need to mention something on here and something related turns up..like hippo bags.. Tes and Coe was visited on the way home 100% mask wearing except rug rats , even teenagers were wearing them, girls in pretty colours, boys, in black or football team. 21

The thing that I remember vividly was not walking through the snow, that was fun after all, but the real pain as the extremities started to thaw out once in the classroom. Probably something to do with the fact that the snow had piled in over my welly tops. That and the fact that it took so long to thaw out because the classroom itself wasn’t that much warmer, as evidenced by your milk bottle top being lifted an inch or so by the frozen milk. 15 9
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted January 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 8, 2021 Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Arthur Itis is keeping quiet at the moment and long may he do so. However the sore foot is trying to make up for it. One of the problems is that the part of the foot affected, on the side of the foot where it goes into the instep, I cannot see properly. I have purchased a mirror as an aid in applying the dressing and will be trying it out when I change the dressing shortly. 3 hours ago, Tony_S said: I think being next to the Thames Estuary may be partially responsible for our Mediterranean micro climate. Though cold wind from the Urals does make it quite chilly. The same when I lived in Burnham-on-Crouch but it was only a short distance before the effect was no longer felt. I lived midway between the railway station and the river and the micro climate stretched as far as the railway station. Beyond that it was full on winter and those country roads could be treacherous. I remember one very frosty morning seeing about a dozen accidents on the journey to work. There were four between Burnham and Wickford but the other eight were all on the A127 four on each carriageway and all opposite each other. One I did witness in front of me where two cars collided because the drivers were rubbernecking the accident in the other carriageway. I carefully drove round them and on my way. 2 hours ago, The White Rabbit said: Afternoon all, My father grew up in a pit village. Many of the miners' children went on to grammar school rather than secondary moderns because of parental attitudes (some might say bullying). Their fathers wanted something better for their children than working down the pit and knew education was key to that. Stay dry and warm everyone... At my secondary school a third of the teachers were Welsh and the majority were from South Wales. I was told that it was because of the preponderance of grammar schools in the valley's. 1 hour ago, simontaylor484 said: Still no snow But getting these as ads Shouldn't have stood in front of that cannon.

The winter I recall was that of 1981/82, going the 11 miles to work thru' the country lanes on my Suzuki TS50ER in the snow (there was a lot that winter). Had to stop half way and wrap my paws round the cylinder cos' all I could feel were pins and needles. That winter was the first (and hopefully last) time I ever fell off a motorbike - it was on thick ice, so all I did was slide - and fortunately nothing else hit me. About a minute after I'd moved me + bike off the road (fortunately only a bent brake pedal - not a scuff anywhere else) a van did a 360 spin where I'd been lying. I can still feel the pain as my paws used to warm up again when I got to work..... 2

Erichill16
Early evening, Day much as expected, work then trip to supermarket to stock up with Bavarian smoked cheese, breakfast cereals and beverages of the alcoholic variety. I was hoping to watch football tonight but the match isn’t on BBC, bu88er! SWMBO has asked me to go and help her with a jigsaw, bu88er that, I’m staying in bed and drinking some of the previously mentioned beverages. I may listen to the football on the radio but more likely I’ll fall asleep. In response to earlier posts, I’ve never used a slide rule, calculators were just coming in. Im generally good at maths but being mildly dyslexic mental arithmetic is ‘challenging’. I can only speak a small amount of German, not enough to read the magazine, but I learn quite a lot from the pictures and the train formation diagrams. It’s been snowing on and of all day but not settling. Back to the beer, may be back later. Robert 15 1
Popular Post Ian Abel
POETS... right, that's me done then Well, not quite but I'll cash it in early as I'm hearing nothing from the client at present! Not much new here - let's face it, after Wednesday, it's got to be something HUGE to make any impact for now - so we continue alone the narrow path. Shopped ourselves yesterday as the local place looked very empty, and indeed it was, better to be able to select various items yourself than rely on others. Should be set for the weekend Sh!t-for-brains Twitter account resurrected, and he made the STARTLING announcement that he won't attend the inauguration. That's a surprise - SAID NOBODY ANYWHERE! We're into week five of our murder mystery tonight and looks like it'll be hardest week so far, having reviewed the clues and latest data for hours last night, the Mrs and I are still in the dark as to who may be the next suspect we can eliminate. Hopefully our partners in crime solution, fared better investigating Finished this also; -9 first thing with a dusting of snow added to the current levels, -4 the high. Let's head for the weekend, stay safe. 18 3

The grey cold dampness has done nothing to improve Arthur I Tuss making for a most unpleasant morning at the House of Fun. Matters have been rectified by a goodly serve of ham and eggs for lunch and will be further improved by an hour a-snooze shortly. Dr. SWMBO is having a quietly reflective afternoon having learned of the sudden and unexpected demise of a good friend (of hers, not someone I knew) arising from Covid-affected sepsis. We shall raise glasses at Friday Drinks in his name and to wish his partner of very many years every strength through the days ahead. In other news we occasionally comment about the ads many of us are shown with this site. I believe I selected “relevant interest” or something similar in the options. Which does rather beg some questions here. Ladies undergarments AND cameras??? Popular Post simontaylor484
I have the problem of being proved right for once. About 3 years ago the council brought some agency workers in for our department to take some of our lads off for the bin wagons aka slave trains. Anyway we had this lad there was something not right about him at all be have you an uneasy feeling one of the lads thought he was one of Jamie Bulgers murderers he had that bad an aura if you like. He came out with some really strange statements such as he was saving for.an American muscle car but couldn't drive and that he had a Russian girlfriend in America that he sent money to each week. We brushed these comments off as b/s almost that he's was just starting a topic of conversation. Please bear in mind that We worked in town centre s in the early morning and near members of the public And in some cases children in parks and the like. Anyway one day out team leader was off and I ended up.driving the 5 tonne van. He got in the passenger seat with some roast chicken from a butchers shop holding the rest of us up from getting our break. Then he dropped this line whilst chomping on a chicken leg like.Henry the eighth. If they knew what they had done i wouldn't.be here. I had 2 witnesses when I dropped the lads off i rang my team.leader and reported it. He then reported this to the office who said they couldn't do.anything about it for data protection they kept him on for a few more weeks. According to the Wakefield express he has just been convicted of having kiddie porn on his computer over 300 class A images as as well as 300 b and c the result is he is also on sex offenders register he had a previous conviction for assault. Oh I forgot 300 hours community service. His ip address was flagged to police in 2018 2
