RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted January 3, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 3, 2021 Evening all from Estuary-Land. Must remember its BIN day tomorrow and put the bags out. Same next Saturday, then Friday then Thursday as usual. There has always been ethnic minorities in Britain. The only difference is that in past times they have been limited geographically, usually around port areas and many were descendants of slaves as we had slaves too before 1807 when it was abolished. On the cake front, I haven't been able to find bargain stollen or for that matter any sort of stollen, at least it gives my BG a chance to get back to normal.

Popular Post Erichill16
Evening All, Another day of which there is little to report. Highlight was a phone call to a 91years old friend that I meet up with a couple of times a year. He’s doing ok and going for his 2nd Covid-19 shot on Tuesday, good for him. Watched a few clips on YouTube which depressed me so SWMBO made me come and help with a jigsaw but couldn’t get any pieces to fit so I’ve come to bed. I was going to do some paperwork but couldn’t be bothered after all it is the weekend but I’ll have to crack on with it next week. Don’t know what’s on the agenda for tomorrow but I think we need to make use of our freedom in tier three before the inevitable happens. Poly Bear, sorry I’ve only just seen your response regarding Sydney and bil. It’s not that bil is tight, in fact he tells me he’s got pet insurance, it’s more a case he doesn’t believe what he doesn’t see. You have to be watching to see the problem and when Syds at our house he is the centre of attention but not so when he’s at home. I’ll explain more when it’s sorted. You are right though, he is very cute and some people call him ‘Teddy Bear’. I assume though that with other insurance policies there is a ....... can’t think of the word, but you have to pay the first X number of £s. Probably had too much of the raspberry flavored vodka that I got fo Christmas. Anyway Goodnight All. Robert. 1 1

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted January 4, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 4, 2021 Good evening everyone Like yesterday, it’s never really got much warmer than it was first thing this morning, the highest temperature it got today was 3C, a little bit warmer than yesterday, but only just, however, the sun did shine quite a bit. I’m expecting another overnight frost again tonight. I’ve had a much better day today than yesterday, adding the 0v line that I mentioned this morning, to all the switches and LEDs seems to have done the trick, everything now works as it should. However, the downside is that it has highlighted the need for a larger 5v supply. My homemade 1.5A 12v - 5v step down module overheats after a few minutes, despite having a large heatsink fitted to it, so that’s the next thing I need to sort out. Luckily I have a 5A one in stock, so all I need to do is fit a socket and wire that directly to the PtP (Point to Point) modules and LED control boards and that should do the trick. But as I’m planning on making a new integral 3v power supply and removing the external one, I’ll be able to utilise the hole for the new 5v power supply, I’ll just change the socket to match the plug on the 5v lead. I’ve been on a bit of a learning curve whilst I built this panel and with what I’ve learned, I’ll definitely be building the next 2 panels very differently. The boards will be oriented differently (turned through 90 degrees) and the grouping will also be different, as will the method of routing the wiring between the base and the lid. 5 1

Popular Post chrisf
Greetings one and all The chicken that formed the basis of lunch yesterday did not give its life in vain. The carcass has been reduced to its component parts and will form the basis of several meals. The first will be a risotto, probably tomorrow. I should have done this for my substitute Christmas dinner and I will know better next time. Some time was spent fruitlessly searching for a recipe for potato cakes. There are several on the internet but the one I sought was Welsh in origin. I have one Welsh cookbook but it's not in there. One day the solution to the mystery will emerge and take me by surprise. Today I must stride purposefully into town and collect my prescription from the pharmacy. There is a bank statement to be printed off once I have undergone the inquisition at the entrance to the bank branch and there are lottery tickets to be bought. Then I will allow myself the luxury of a bus ride home. I have had an idiotic e-mail from Booking.com urging me to plan ahead for my holiday! How, pray, are we supposed to do that when there is no clue as to how long the country/continent/world will be in the grip of the virus? I had too many trips to unscramble last year to fall for that one. Best wishes to all Chris Edited January 4, 2021 by chrisf Removing unwanted strikethrough 2 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted January 4, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 4, 2021 Ey up! Woken by something going on outside .. our new neighbours are being quiet but they must have remembered to put their bin out at 6am this morning. I have some crust earning to do today. It may take some time to complete but hey ho it keeps me busy! No frost overnight here but it is only just above freezing. Now I remember why we go for holidays at this time of year somewhere warm. Pah! Have as god a day as you can. Positive thoughts to all ERs. I hope our "missing" ones are ok. TTFN. Baz Ps @Erichill16 have a look for the Hunslet works thread on building a real location.. fascinating engineering.. perhaps he can also build a bit of Qualts in Barnsley. 20 1
Popular Post Robert
Morning All, I am back at work this morning after an extended Christmas and New Year break. It was a quiet time - Mum wasn't able to travel (for obvious reasons) and Thomas stayed with his Mum. There was still quite a lot to do around the house, but with everywhere being closed not a lot got done. Strange times! Have a good day everyone... 5
RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted January 4, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 4, 2021 (edited) Mooring Awl, Inner Temple hare, 699/437 Still normal service with sleeping, 3.75 hours + 3 hours.. You can tell by the days to go numbers above I too am back at work, in about 10 minutes it'll be time to head for the lab.. Using two heaters in the workshop did the trick, the resin set in an hour. Note one is a claimed 2kW the other a claimed 1.6 kW, both being cheap Chinese, we all know their kW are larger than anyone elses, So I suspect less than that. The Two heaters heated the whole workshop to above 15C so the resin on the keel all set at the same time rather than me having to am a heater just at the one area at a time.. It probably used less power overall. It's extremely bright in here as over the break they have completed changing all the lights to LED. Time to ... go deleting, there are pages and pages of company spam to delete.. including one from Mastercarrd... Ooh got to wear masks at work unless you are in your own little area on your own.. I note they they say you've got to wear them from entry to the building.. pity they didn't put the notice on the door then.. RMweb Premium Popular Post polybear Posted January 4, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 4, 2021 Bear's here..... I see the Orange One has been making an even bigger pr!ck of himself, amazingly. Talk about desperation mode. Bear achieved the stripping of paint on the kitchen sub-doorframe yesterday, but further kitchen progress wasn't achieved. Today's plan is to disconnect the sink unit from the plumbing and the wall, along with the adjacent washing machine. This will allow me to (hopefully) install a couple of full-bore isolation valves to the hot & cold water feeds to the sink & washing machine; the hot feed to the washing machine has never been used and Google tells me that very few if any machines need such a thing now, so that'll be removed and capped off too. Nurse Covid phoned yesterday to arrange yet another routine test for 10am today, which should earn me another token towards the new kitchen oven - the purchase of which feels like a long way off at the moment.....

RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted January 4, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 4, 2021 Good morning from a rather cool Charente, white grass outside atvleastvno rain and mud though so we are relatively safe from hippos. Lots of tiles got polished yesterday, after freshly baked cheese scones had been consumed on the way vack from the market. The butter just melts into them when they are warm. The bathroom is looking better. I even scrubbed the floor of the shower and got rid of any grit to make sure thectrap works. After those exertions I even managed an hour in the shed and completed something for the layout. The builder has now arrived to sort some snags out, first off is the leak under the bath. I have got variouscthings that might or might not get done if I get round to them. Painting a but of the shed floor can wait till this afternoon when the temperature is positive rather than negative. Regards to all. Jamie

I'm led to believe that the quality of service can be, shall we say 'variable' based on the things she sees in a supervisory role. RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted January 4, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 4, 2021 (edited) Good morning all, Dull, dismal, damp and more rain expected. Cloudy chilly day with a brisk nor' easterly wind and maximum temperatures of 4°C forecast. First bin lorry of three has been and I'm glad to say that I remembered to put them out last night. Some neighbours appear to have forgotten judging by the panic stricken noises heard earlier. Rugby watched and enjoyed yesterday although I suspect TB probably enjoyed the result more than me. After that I made a flying visit to the kitchen and came away with some rather tasty fillet steak which was accompanied by a very acceptable Argentinian Malbec. Mojo has partially returned so I paid a brief visit to The Shed to try and determine what to do next. First job decided and that is to re-site the controlling apparatus so that is my intention today. Have a good one, Bob. Edited January 4, 2021 by grandadbob Missing "o"
RMweb Gold Dunsignalling Posted January 4, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 4, 2021 Got back from rescheduled provisioning run to Tesco at 07.55. Much quieter than my usual Thursday visit. Breakfast beckons, then a constitutional while the weather holds. Got some indoor DIY to do later, installing some more storage for the under-development railway room. Needed some Csk M6 bolts which arrived courtesy of the big A yesterday and the drill-driver is on charge. John 18
RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted January 4, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 4, 2021 Morning. The world (Rock, Fraggle version) has turned white, not with snow but hoar frost. The various thermyometeroids around the building all show 2c, surprised things are so white out. The drive to Ramsey (4.5 miles) to drop mrs NHN at the bus station was slippery to say the least. No salt or grit here, in the mere outlying villages as 'it's not needed'. Yeah right. Just like how things in the UK are London-centric, things here are Douglas-centric. Same effect, smaller scale. Pah. A domestic duties day calls, I was informed earlier. Pah again! 18
