RMweb Premium Popular Post Dave Hunt Posted December 24, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 24, 2020 We've just had our Christmas dinner as tomorrow we are driving to Chesterfield and back to drop off presents for the grandchildren. We were going to go there yesterday as that was No. 1 son's 50th birthday but since they are now in tier 3 that was a non-starter and tomorrow is now the only day we can legally make it. Not that we are staying, though, so Christmas Day for me will consist of four hours driving with a distanced hello in the middle and, if I'm lucky, a bacon butty. Here's wishing all ERs the very best Christmas possible and that ailments, worries and problems will soon be but memories. Dave 2

RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted December 24, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 24, 2020 It's certainly strange this Christmas but there have been compensations. We found a new cake stall on the market, then called at some friends and were given a ready iced Christmas cake. Then I gotva lovely email from a distant cousin in Chicago. Tomorrow we hope to video call all the kids then go to some friends for dinner and then drinks and chat. We are staying over to avoid curfew problems. Rick, very sorry to hear about your ailment, i hope it clears up and congratulations to Dr Gwiwer. A Happy and peaceful Christmas to you all. BokStein
Well, it's almost here. 1X01 on the WTT although I doubt many will see it whizz by. 3 hours ago, The Stationmaster said: Alas The North Pole (pub of that name) is no more as it closed back in 2012. The ground floor is now a Tesco Express Congratulations to Dr Mrs Gwiwer and commiserations to Mr Gwiwer - alas all too easy to pick up stomach bugs even with plenty of distancing from less careful humans. Mike, the last time I drove past there was before 1997 so I'm not surprised but they still sell assorted alcoholic beverages so the possibility's still there! May I be cheeky and echo your message to the family Gwiwer, please? Seasonal Greetings to all, in whatever and however form you wish to celebrate. 18

RMweb Premium Popular Post NGT6 1315 Posted December 24, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 24, 2020 Well, a silent night it is indeed outside. Was drizzling when I went on the porch for a breath of fresh air (© Air Canada way back), so that will have come atop COVID, I suppose. Dinner was goose soup with vegs and a round of cold cuts. Roast goose à la FiL‘s tomorrow, for which I prepared the red cabbage. And Annika got her first round of toys for this Christmas, which kept her well busy! I think I’ll call it a day now. See ya 'round... 21 1

Popular Post Ian Abel
Commiserations to Rick, as we've been saying here... it's 2020... Congratulations to Dr Mrs Gwiwer Evening draws in and the temp is now down to -15 already <brrrr> As is our tradition - usually after the church service which the choir sing at - we'll be getting a Chinese take-away tonight. In keeping with the season tradition, we've been pleased by all our friends and family that usually join us for an after service dinner here, reporting in via text etc., that they are also following the tradition, even though we'll all be sharing it separately I'll be on the lookout for the fat bearded bloke, never know if you might catch him overhead! Aditi, Ok but he had to repair the lavatory. MiL Why? Aditi, it wouldn’t flush. MiL was it caused by constipation? Aditi, No the pan wasn’t blocked. The cistern wouldn’t empty. Popular Post andyram
Things have been so busy recently that I have not had chance to venture onto RMWeb. The black dog has made several appearances since I last dropped by, but I will not bore you with the details. However, I could not allow the festive season to pass without dropping in. I know 2020 has been dreadful for us all, and even more so for many. I know that Christmas will be different but I want to wish each and everyone of you a Merry Christmas. Let’s make the best of it where we can. I also wish Rick (Gwiwer) a speedy recovery and pass on my congratulations to his good lady.
