RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted December 10, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 10, 2020 Evening all from Estuary-Land. The new road layout fiasco goes on. Another head on collision tonight near the railway station. What idiot thought it was a good idea to put the new layout into use before the signs are in place? I intend to venture into the town on Sunday and I intend to make a detour to avoid the road in question. 4

Popular Post chrisf
Greetings one and all I had some good news yesterday. It came in the form of a phone call from the hospital telling me that the CT scan of my bowel had found nothing of concern. I have one more interface with the sh!t kit, in two years' time, and that's it. As the human body is by nature biodegradable I am sure that there will be other health scares for me to face but sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof! Today I am to have the Zoladex injection which is the cornerstone of my treatment for prostate cancer. I recall just how devastated I was at the diagnosis and know only too well that it has the capacity to turn round and bite me. Until it does I carry on regardless. Talking of which - the news broke overnight that Dame Barbara Windsor has died. What a long and varied career she had, and how cruel is the wretched Alzheimers that took her. She will be fondly remembered by so many. Best wishes to all Chris 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted December 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 11, 2020 Good moaning from the Charente. So we are still guessing about GDB's purchase. My money is on a combine harvester. You could leave the cutter bar on and it could recycle cockwombles as you drove to the supermarket. Anyway, we now have a newly tiled floor in the bathroom but no toilet as yet. Hopefully the tile cement will have dried enough today. Today we are off to Niort for Beth to see the diabetologue. Ms Laurent is quite nice to see so I will just have to be there to help translate. Pah. Apart from that not a lot on the agenda. Regards to all. RMweb Gold Popular Post roundhouse Posted December 11, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 11, 2020 (edited) Good news ChrisF. I am getting adverts on here for Hippo Bags, might be useful for a particular ER A great evening in our local brewery. The friend I was with was getting a bit chilly so they let us move to another outside table that had a heater right next to it. The food took ages and the dessert even longer. No complaints from us as that meant more beer. One small pub nearby the brewery has now reopened but a larger one has now closed. Today we will visit one pub in the City that is open but I notice that Google is showing a lot more as closed. We may just visit one pub as the meals are more expensive in the City, so it just wont be worth it wasting money on food that we probably wont be able to keep eating. Been in the shed already this morning to test and install a decoder. All working fine. Edited December 11, 2020 by roundhouse 13

RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted December 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 11, 2020 Morning, a rather damp one externally, as it is hoying it down. Pleased to see the good news from Chris, and Gwiwer is posting on FB OK, but a but down I think. We're here, mate. Bike club morning, won't be any bikes ride in today I don't think. Sidecar Racer would be pleased to know one of our number is an ex-sidecar racer, good enough to have a TT Replica, he's a great laugh talking about all his experiences. He nearly won a TT, broke down on the last lap, about 3 miles from the finish.....the ultimate frustration. Bloody two-strokes.....seized. Not really sure what was bothering me yesterday, but I was quite out of sorts until late on, when a salty snack suddenly just energised me - I wonder if I was low on salt, as I follow a low salt diet due to blood pressure. We used to have to take salt tablets at sea, as the salt loss due to sweating is considerable. Temperatures in a ships engine spaces in hot climates are off the clock, well in to the 50's often. Centigrade that is..... 3

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted December 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 11, 2020 Mooring Awl, inner Temple hare, 1 hours sleep, woke up placed book on bedside table, turned light off, 4.5 hours sleep, then a couple of hours occasionally dozing.. Ben the Alarm Clock Collie didn't this morning he was still snoring in his bed.. He finally got up, as I started waking the stove up to produce more heat.. Slightly warmer than the last few days but chuckitdarn, so dark and cloudy I couldn't see the lights of GY , and Bacton gas works were barely visible. Ben decided to have just a short patrol luckily.. Roads were awash locally, but were down to merely wet by the time I was at Effin Clown town. Came alongside a big rubbish collection Vehicle at the NDR Roundabout.. a 4-4, 2 front and two rear axles. He correctly turned onto the roundabout then proceeded to straight line it with me between him and the 'bout itself.. A blast of the horn brought a course correction, he obviously hadn't seen me down below.. After researching back belts especially Tigerburnie's recommendation and spending hours wading round the net, I got it down to three. One the "as issued by the NHS" which looked like the one Dad has, uncomfortable and huge.. Tigerburnies selection, The third being "as recommended by" the " National Back Pain Association UK". Smaller, lighter, using modern materials, £27. Then I noticed something, another advert for an Identical belt £22.. So again I went into research mode again and found it at dozens of prices all with different name tags on.. Eventually I found it at £11, inc 24 hour delivery from the house of strong ladies. I tried it last night between getting home and bed time , it definitely keeps the lower back warm which is a bonus, and seemed to give some relief from the pain.. I've now got it on at work, as sitting hunched over a hot computer and then lugging 20Kg + electronic units on and off equipment trolleys can not be good for the back.. Of those I had to do that this morning, having found a dead calibrator in a rack of equipment I needed to use.. I was not happy when I found they knew about it several days ago and didn't do anything about it.. So this unit had to be heaved out onto a trolley, a replacement borrowed and inserted and the broken one taken to repair and booked in.. As it is I have the first of next weeks systems now running as they aren't using it today, so that will reduce next weeks overload of work.. Meanwhile I reckon GDB has an armoured exoskeleton arriving... he needs it.. Time to wander down to next weeks system, as there is another cable change and button press due.. 16

It came in the form of a phone call from the hospital telling me that the CT scan of my bowel had found nothing of concern. Good news Chris. I'm sure I'm not alone on ER in not appreciating the effect that such tests can have until you're facing one personally. I woke up at 3am and my brain started working, and I've not got a scan date yet - or know of all the possible scenarios for things that may, or may not be revealed. However, being of the family ursidae (that's a Bear, according to Wikipaedia - who comes up with such cr@p?) such scenarios always seem to err on the sh1tty end of the stick. Better crack on with the kitchen today - I've some paint stripping to do; why is it that painters get as much gloss on the plaster as they do on skirting? Whilst it's on a wall that's going to be plastered I'd rather the new stuff was stuck to plaster and not to paint. Also a couple of pipes to do, as they'll need some compression fittings soon, and again I'd rather they weren't on top of paint (which would probably stop getting the olive on anyway). Now where's the nitromors? Finally, the two Plasterers that I messaged for quotes yesterday have yet to contact me..... 1
Popular Post jonny777
A dull and damp morning in North Somerset. Oh well, I don't have much to do anyway. Bought some pheasant breasts from the organic farm shop. I might poach those in cider with a little cream later and have them with rice. I think all presents are now sorted, although wrapping is still to be done and I may have to brave the postoffice queue with a parcel to dad's care home. I'm having doubts about table food for the birds, as it goes so quickly that I'm wondering if I am inadvertently feeding rats after dark. I might just put a little out in the next few minutes and monitor how quickly it vanishes due to the starlings swarming in from their roost on the church tower. I've not seen any vermin in the garden for months, but I always have that uneasy feeling they are never far away. RMweb Premium The White Rabbit Posted December 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 11, 2020 Mornin' awl... A rather patchy attendance through the week for me again, like many, it's been both good news and bad. I hope to catch up tonight once duties are done. Meanwhile, a Friday riddle: Many people know Friday as POETS day, but for me it's BALLADS day. If 'S' is the first letter of my forename, what's that acronym stand for? (The clean version only please!) A clue - it dates from when I worked in retail, selling books & model r*******. 2 7

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted December 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 11, 2020 Good morning everyone It’s raining, it wasn’t when I sat down to eat my breakfast, I might get wet on my walk to the butchers, so I might delay my visit until it eases off a little. After that it’ll be a quick muggertea and then a visit to the Trafford Centre. There are no firm plans for the afternoon, but that could always change. I also like Liverpool (yes I know I’m from Manchester), quite a lot of my former work mates were from Liverpool, so we used to alternate where the annual Christmas ‘do’ between Liverpool and Manchester. Some of the best ones were in Liverpool, the pub atmosphere was far more relaxed. Chris, good news regarding your scan results. Stay safe, stay sane, enjoy whatever you have planned for the day, back later. Brian 14
RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted December 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 11, 2020 Having endured 3 years of being edumocated furtherly in Liverpool, it's fair to say I hated the place for the first year, and accepted it in the second, and came to terms with enjoying what I could there in the third. But I never actually liked it! I wasn't sorry to leave. Like anywhere I suppose when it is your home then you have an attachment to it, but it wasn't and isn't a city I enjoy/ed. Conversely I expected to hate Paris, and resisted going there for some years, when SWMBO utilised the MBO bit and finally got me there I loved it! OK, orf to the club, full Manx on the cards. 7
