So it must be a mobility scooter, or a private ambulance, or a firkin of bitter.  But it might, just might, be a Father Christmas outfit -'tis the season an' all that ...

edit:  After having just read a certain post on a certain other thread, Bear feels this needs to be a solo mission by someone white and furry.  Consider yourself sh*tcanned....

 

A bit of easy kitchen work this morning, including a bit of research & messaging a couple of plasterers for site visits and quotes.  The cooker is now connected again.

 

Bear weighed himself this morning: 70Kg However.....

Bear was around 83Kg around March time, and had been pretty steady at that weight for a mighty long time (more's the pity) - though I could get it to dip just below 80 if I put my mind to it.  Gym? Filthy word.  Exercise? Went for a walk round the village a few times, the last being back in Oct (or was it Sept?).  I do walk to the Co-op maybe once a week when cake is low - does that count?

Bear put this miracle of slimming down to sorting the garden and then the kitchen refurb, but after seeing the needle on 70 I decided I'd better flag this up to the vet this morning.  So after a telephone questions & answers session this morning she decided that she'd quite like to see me at 2pm.....

Bear ended  up having a bit of an MOT, involving certain unspeakable aspects (I'll say no more....).  "I've never done this to a Polybear, she remarked".  At least the Gods were smiling on me, as she was young and rather foxy.

I've had a fair few blood tests in recent months, none of which flagged any issues.  However, it seems she's decided to talk to the head vet later today and decide what to do.  It does look like I'm in for some scans though.

I was rather hoping that she'd diagnose the problem as a lack of cake, and prescribe much more cake as a cure.  Sadly not.

 

And to cap it all, I went into the Co-op and discovered that one variant of their super-dooper sticky yummy looking cakes was on special offer.  Which one:

Coffee and Walnut.....

Just one word......PAH!

Uneventful yesterday <yawn>

 

Today, we have Whitney here as Jemma and Brendan are off to Grand Forks to pick up their apartment keys - no real reason for doing it other than "it's something to do". They start flight instructing at UND in January and already have the apartment secured/rented.

Also today, another exciting event... grocery delivery, oh wow, such fun! We also get to drive to the pharmacy and pick up our prescriptions curbside.

 

Who could imagine a more exciting fun filled day

Well it seems Bear is being lined up for a scan of everything except all four legs and head - supposedly I should hear within the next 2 weeks.  And a test which involves the use of a corkscrew. Hmmmm.....

Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Apparently invites are going out for the Corvid-19 test. Its the quick test and will only be for those who have no other symptoms. Though I live in one of the post codes mentioned my own ward is not as badly affected as the ward(s) that share the same postcode.

Feeling a bit better now, having eaten (no cake) and had a walk. Blood 4.3, BP 117/76, so not croaking just yet.

 

I reckon GDB has bought a stonking great 4x4, sticking two fingers (not the ones Poly refers to) up at the electric cars crowd.  Plenty deals available at the moment, they're desperate.

Might be a Tesla though, they do make some very fast models.

Having ridden in one set to 'launch' mode - you wouldn't believe it!  Smashed back into the seat, and that's from a bike rider used to fast vehicles.  So much torque and grip, stunning.  Hated it though.....no soul. But oh so fast.

Our nephew actually owns a Tesla dealership in Hampshire and has tried to persuade me to buy one but I haven’t got that sort of money!

Its only a matter of time before the owner stacks it, he makes a habit of it.  Lets say money is no object to him.  They're not cheap, that's for sure, and TBH I wasn't impressed with the build quality, but boy does it go.

TB did you not see my earlier post about a mishap on a motorised bicycle, well actually tricycle as it was a BSA 500cc Gold Star combination. 

It belonged to my best mate Vic in I think about 1969 and we were outside my parent's house and he said "Do you want to gave it a go?"  "Oh yes" says your resident idiot.  "Be gentle with the throttle and (I thought) watch it as it pulls to the left. "  Aforesaid idiot climbs aboard, starts it and pulls away fairly gently but applying a bit of extra right hand down a bit.  Gave it a little bit more throttle but it pulled to the right and all of a sudden I've shot across the road, caught the OS footrest on the back of a 1960s Ford Anglia's back bumper, spun around the back of it, up the pavement and into a neighbour's drive through their wrought iron gates which were closed at the time. I somersaulted over the handlebars and landed on my back in the roses.  Luckily no serious damage done but I swore then I would never get on a motor bike again...and haven't!  Stuck to 4 wheels ever since and the only other road accident I've ever been involved in was somebody running into the back of me.  Fingers crossed that my luck continues to hold.

 

 

 

P.S.  Vic is still my best mate, we first met when we were 15 so that's not bad going.

My Dad had something called an Autocycle to ride to work when I was a toddler. He and Mum were saving for a motor cycle and sidecar but I suspect my younger brother’s arrival hindered that plan. We moved to Somerset and the job Dad got came with a house so they had enough money for a Ford Anglia (1948 version I think). His next motorbike was a BSA Bantam he had when he was about 60 to go to work. I have just remembered he had a Triumph T10 scooter to commute to work in Birmingham on too.

I heard the father of one of the babies talking on the news - the story involved the use of an air ambulance.  To say it was a complete fustercluck would be a total understatement.  Beyond belief.
