RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted December 3, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 3, 2020 Good evening everyone Well I don’t think it’s stopped raining all day, it’s never been heavy rain, more a little drizzle, but it’s been at it all day and it’s still falling now. Ta da, that’s it, it’s done, I’m now leaving the wall to dry off before I mix up some tanking slurry and apply the first coat, that’ll probably be on Monday. I can’t say I’m sorry to see the back of this job, it’s been a hard slog. Today’s task, the part of the wall that meets the floor and the corner, have been the most difficult and my back and knees were protesting a little when I packed up for the day, but thankfully, all seems well now. Mind you, that isn’t the end of this task completely, I have another wall, 13ft long and the same height as today’s to do, plus the bottom 18in (approximately 20ft) of the all adjoining walls and the area around the fireplace as well in the not too distant future. However, tomorrow is a day off and the plan for the weekend is to spend most of Saturday and Sunday in the workshop. Here are a couple of photos of today’s work and the area next to the outer door.

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted December 4, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 4, 2020 Ok then I'll type this again, 6.5 hours sleep so far I'll try for more shortly, Rain is hammering on the windows, Ben is a Snoring Collie at the moment. Professor Jonathan Stafford Nguyen Van-Tam MBE, has an impressive CV and his family history is quite interesting as well. He certainly has emphasised the need for both injections in government briefings , also I've seen reported side effects on British TV as well. It appears that the Bear has access to Santa's inside information,, if he has access to Santa's sleigh as well, no one's cake is safe in the world. Plans for today, Pipe work, Minor wood cutting, Plan further fitting out of the workshop, Dodge the rain. But first. Time for sleep part 2. 13 1 1 3

CoViD-19 fatalities in the US are about 84 per 100,000. In he UK this rate is 90 fatalities per 100,000. Popular Post chrisf
Greetings one and all So it’s official. Santa Claus will be first in the queue for the vaccine. Professor Van-Tam said so on TV so it must be true. My dad would have smiled. For many years towards the end of his life he was much in demand to play Santa at kids’ parties. Though not quite as portly as the real Santa, he made a jolly good job of it. To this day he is fondly recalled by many in Godmanchester. He did other good civic-minded things as well: secretary and then life president of the community association, mace bearer to the town Mayor and volunteer at a local primary school where he helped the kids with their reading. A little over three years ago a new road was named after him. I think he would have smiled then too. Tony S, thank you so much for sharing the story of Daphne, the koala in the Christmas tree. It is perhaps as well that she was not sitting at the top in the place normally reserved for the fairy! The story deserves to go viral, for surely the world needs a dose of happiness at this time. I discovered koalas last year when “Lewis” was rescued from the bushfires by the heroic action of a grandmother. I find them both cute and fascinating, and sometimes very funny. It appears that many contributors to YouTube agree with me. Rick and Lurker, I do try to be positive, honest, but far more often than I succeed. Sadly I am not a very good liar. Best wishes to all Chris 4
RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted December 4, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 4, 2020 Good morning all. Good weather it is not. Wet, cold, breezy. Welcome to the House of Fun. We are promised it will be less wet later. I was woken at 1.30am by loud shouting and some screaming outside. Most unusual for such a quiet area. And currently with not much reason for anyone to be out and about at such an hour. Waking the brain wakes the waterworks too so as I was then up anyway I was able to discreetly check outside (with the lights off) but saw no-one. The sounds faded into the night and I can only assume that two people were walking past and were in disagreement with each other. Let’s hope all ended well. Avagoodun. The weekend is almost upon us. 3 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted December 4, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 4, 2020 Some more sleep was had but not a lot, We've had a couple of short power failures, which means as everything goes on and off there are all sorts of beeps etc from the equipment in the house. Ben the scaredy Collie does not approve and there's a crash as he hides in his safety cage where he's hiding now. I took him on patrol during the second failure, its darn cold out there, large lumps of rain, as we squelched down the garden, but we don't have snow, though the ghostly box reports some south of here. Time to think of breakfast, I predict that will bring a Collie out of his cage, to sit in the doorway of the kitchen as the bacon starts cooking. 3

Then I woke up..tarnation!! It is wet here and I need to go off to post a parcel..buggritt. however more no suhgar lemon drizzle cake can be used as a reward..yummy! It would appear that senior "leaders" across the world can all act as spoilt brats..and can clutch at straws.. If we have the best scientist in the world why do we have such a high death rate? RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted December 4, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 4, 2020 Good moaning from Crabtree land. A quiet evening was had watching the gogglebox,. However before tea I managed to clean another tile spaces. Well over half way there now. More to come today and less aching in my shoulders from wielding a lump hammer. A phone call to BrittanybFerries and rearranged our ferry tickets from December to late February. Beth now has a target to aim for. We just hope that the vaccination programme works. Today there will be more banging at tiles and recalcitrant tile cement but there will also be a trip to the post office to send some boxes to the UK. The contents will hopefully bring some smiles to some faces. Regards to all. Jamie 23

Incidentally, Ryanair has just placed an order for another 75 of them, taking their total order to 210. There is mention of a "modest discount". They'll be coming to an airport near you quite soon. I suspect that after their history and having the spotlight shone on them good and proper they may well turn out to be one of the safer aircraft now - let's hope so. 4 hours ago, monkeysarefun said: .......for some reason that escapes me but seems to have something or other to do with them not saying loudly enough that the election was rigged is the wierdest example of political persuasion I've seen lately! It would be interesting to add the figures for population per square acre into the equation, as no doubt the UK population is rather more scrunched up than that of the US. I wonder how the effects of the US Thanksgiving exodus may affect numbers? 8 minutes ago, Barry O said: Watched some kickball last night. 90 % of the 2000 fans watching Arsenal were well behaved.. the rest can't wear face masks properly. I'm still seething at waking up just as Linda Lusardi arrives with a Lemon Drizzle Cake..... In other news: A cr@p night, waking at about 4am and not being able to get back to sleep; if my mind starts (often with destructive (but mostly imaginary thoughts) then I'm doomed. I did consider getting up there and then and cracking on with the kitchen, but felt it may not have gone down well with the neighbours if I'd disturbed them (unlikely though). As it is Bear is feeling v. slightly dizzy this morning, so will have to tread a bit more carefully today. 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post Dave Hunt Posted December 4, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 4, 2020 Yesterday was one of electrical interruption in the neighbourhood of Hunt Towers and I got fed up of resetting the clocks on various bits of electrical equipment. Why do manufacturers make it so complicated to do this? Different combinations of buttons are required to access the simple matter of changing a few numbers and I sometimes yearn for the days when analogue clocks with knobs that turned the fingers were the norm. Added to that that we suffered a plague of lightbulb failures - not connected with the power failures - and no fewer than five of them decided that yesterday was time to quit. We have an almost bewildering variety of fittings for bulbs - Edison screw, small Edison screw, bayonet, small bayonet, flat clips etc. in a range of luminosities and sizes so our stocks are similarly varied. Guess which of all the types were not in stock? Hence one of today's tasks is sourcing the ones needed. It has also been announced in daily orders that Christmas card writing and despatch are on the agenda. Path! (or should that be bah as in humbug?). And the weather's cr*p. As may be apparent, I am lacking in happy bunniness this morning. I hope that other ERs are in better moods and that those suffering from genuine troubles and not just grumpiness like me get over them. RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted December 4, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 4, 2020 Good morning everyone It’s been raining overnight but it isn’t at the moment. Friday, means a walk to the butchers for the weekly meat rations and hopefully a pastie for my dinner, this has already taken place and the pastie sits beside the microwave. I’ll shortly head off to the Trafford Centre for the few items that I can’t get at Sainsbury’s, on my way I’ll drop Sheila off at the surgery as she is due for a blood pressure check. There are no firm plans for the afternoon, but that could always change. Stay safe, stay sane, enjoy whatever you have planned for the day, back later. I had got down to a couple of items last year but need a small sack now! RMweb Gold Popular Post BoD Posted December 4, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 4, 2020 Morning all BT Mini hub arrived by courier yesterday morning and once charged proved to be not noticeably slower than the broadband even to the extent that I could stream live sport on my iPad last night. I had to disable the ethernet adapter on the main PC before the wireless adapter would connect to the temporary hub but now that that has been done I can venture into the world of online food shopping. Oh joy. I can echo other's grumpiness bought on by the dull wet weather outside and not being able to go out anyway. Apart from that there is no other news which, in itself, is good news. Have a good day folks. 2
