RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted November 17, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 17, 2020 Evening all from Estuary-Land. Had a phone chat with my niece earlier this evening. And I broached the subject of the family having a Zoom meeting. She said that she might be able to twist her dads (my brother) arm into joining in. Be great if we can but it won't be on C*******s day favourite is the Sunday before or after Christmas. Spent a bit of time talking to my niece so now got to catch up. 7

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted November 17, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 17, 2020 Good evening everyone I managed to get quite a bit of paint f the wall this morning and I was pleased and surprised to find the area that I thought was damp, was actually a dark coloured paint. It would seem that the bottom 18” of wall were originally painted a dark colour, possibly grey or brown, whilst the rest of the wall white. It was painted similarly in the small room, but that was yellow over green. Once the paint was off the bare brickwork (term used loosely as there are still some traces of paint still to remove) looked ok. I’m still going to repoint the inside section and also the bit outside that I missed. After dinner I started stripping the paint off an old Victorian cast iron fireplace that will eventually become a feature in the back garden. It was leaning against the wall next to the door and I’d be constantly moving it. I’ve been putting off the task for the last couple of years now, so I’ve bitten the bullet and started the job. I’ve done about 30% of it so far and it’s surprising the detail that has been uncovered. 19

It is seen as a major threat to honey bees which it decapitates and can easily destroy whole hive populations. Love the biohazard suits and the vacuum capsule to remove the hornets. They removed the tree and took it to a chilled room before cutting it open. They discovered something like 76 queens almost ready to break out. They found the nest by trapping hornets and attaching radio trackers to them.

Popular Post chrisf
Greetings one and all Once again the camaraderie of ERs has swung into action. It really is a comfort to know that you are there and that so many of you have experiences and advice to share. When I went to the GP a little over five years ago it was because of rectal bleeding, leading me to fear that it was bowel cancer. It wasn’t, but I was referred to colo-rectal and this was how I came to have the colonoscopy that went wrong. Flavio, your wisdom is welcome, as always. Ideally, one of my closest friends, who has survived bowel cancer, will be able to take on the life support role required by the colonoscopy, should I decide to have it, but I must not and do not take him for granted. If he cannot or will not help it will be a case of getting to know the neighbours a bit better! I rather like the idea of a CT scan instead and thank Twosugars for it. I have been in touch with the bowel screening team, asked the question and await a response but I’m not overly optimistic. One reason for my declining the colonoscopy was to buy myself some time. Gentle readers may recall that I became a victim of crime a couple of months ago. The perpetrator has now pleaded Not Guilty so I am to be a witness in the Crown Court. My next appointment with the Prof is due in April and anything else will have to fit round the date chosen for the trial. Later today there will be ironing and later still a virtual Area Group meeting. Show and tell is not altogether straightforward with Zoom but I’m sure we will try to make it work. Best wishes to all Chris
RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted November 18, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 18, 2020 (edited) Mooring Awl, Inner Temple Hare, 746 / 466. 3.5 hours solid sleep lying straight out for a change, only to be disturbed by SWMBO having a bad night... After that I was wide awake for 2 hours as brain locked onto a problem .. Namely I'm putting a ceiling in to keep the heat in the workshop / garage.. But if I do that I'll not be able to use the roof beams for lifting things and we are all getting older so increasingly it may be needed,... So in that 2 hours Brain worked out a ceiling hatch will hide two beams which are over the main work bench and the area in front of it. I'll put a steel rod across between the two, thick enough to support anything that won't crush the bench. The rod will be nutted either side of each beam with cross wooden beams either side, to make sure the main beams are not pulled together.. The roof hatch will have PIR foam insulation on it, which I have is stock for some reason , whereas the rest of the ceiling will be fibreglass insulation. I should add the roof beams are substantial, one thing Cowboys R Us didn't get wrong in the building of the garage.. Post lifting tackle design, I got 2 hours of mostly awake intermittent dozing. Ben the not so sure Collie went out this morning but didn't venture beyond the end of the house lighting. Came up behind a car with L plates on this morning.. Don't see many of them these days, to my surprise it was driving unusually carefully at junctions, and had 2 people on board.. Most odd at 06:15.. You lot are not nice, after all your discussions yesterday, I ended up having several visits to a small room, I think you all put the frighteners on my internals... The delayed Cal is going well, I should finish the Cal part in a couple of hours, then there will be an hour or so analysing the results to produce a new correction file, before setting the thing off on a cross check run. Time, I think, to check the company Spam... A thought.. just how many cards for an event in about 36 days, will show a man in red and his muilti pronged animal friends all wearing light blue masks.... Chris Chris: Perhaps the wisdom (?) of Bear may help disperse those clouds a little - I hope so. Does the "life support role" entail much inconvenience to the person giving support - I suspect not, in reality; the application of "a little common sense" to whatever rules the hospital lay down (who are trying to cover their ar*es as well as provide care) post-procedure may well be in order. As for the court case, it's not worth the risk delaying necessary medical treatment for a scrote - if you're not available at their chosen date for good reason then there's little they can do about it (I doubt they'll order sending you to virtual witness box via Zoom mid-procedure ) then they'll just have to postpone/adjourn the case until you are (let him sweat a bit...). The last thing you want is to be looking back and thinking to yourself "If only I didn't have the court case then the outcome might've been better". Especially if the defence social workers portray the accused as having had a deprived upbringing etc etc and the punishment becomes a "bound over to keep the peace, fifty quid fine and a holiday in Torremolinos to get over the ordeal of having been prosecuted" (you may suspect that Bear has little faith in today's British Justice). 13

It may be painful but its no where near as bad as if you don't have it done and then....... Time to ..drink my mugatea and get on with Wednesday!! Stay safe and well! RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted November 18, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 18, 2020 Morning, not a very nice one at all. Howling wind here, foreguessed to get worse, then....worserer. UK cut off again, not that it is particularly accessible at the moment anyway. But to anyone wondering if lockdown works - yes it does, if your populace behaves..... problem.....but it worked here and continues to do so. The few cases here are all people who have come from the UK as returning residents or patients from treatment, and as such have been in self isolation anyway, so no community cases. Life therefore is pretty much normal here, no restrictions at all bar returning from travel 'away'. Friend's visit yesterday was rather two pronged - great to hear how well a hip replacement has gone, doing great....only for him to tell me he's got a skin C. Not a nice one either. Talk about kicking someone when they're down. Cr*p.

Chris, When I had my perforated diverticula trouble a couple of months ago the initial diagnosis was via a CT scan but in order to confirm that it had healed properly as well as 'to rule out any more sinister underlying issues' I had to have a colonoscopy six weeks later. When I asked the consultant if another CT scan would do the job she said that it wouldn't be as informative and detailed as a colonoscopy. Like you I have had trouble in the past with the cleansing process but this last one seemed better and I believe that the recipe for the gloop juice (sorry about the technical terminology) has altered somewhat. RMweb Premium Popular Post AndyB Posted November 18, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 18, 2020 Morning all. Been tasked with assembling a desk for #2 child. Unusually for me all the components have been laid out in order and identified. More excitingly the desk came with some useful polystyrene packing pieces which are already on the layout. Whilst clearing out the parental house I came across numerous acrylic clip-top containers from Lakeland. These were originally intended to store sufficient food to withstand a nuclear winter. I've repurposed them to store granular granular and fibrous material associated with a certain hobby involving toy trains. I may need to put a shelf up to keep them tidy.

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted November 18, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 18, 2020 Good morning everyone It’s another dull start to the day, no overnight rain but the forecast is for some heavy rain later. Breakfast is now consumed and before I head downstairs to continue stripping the old fireplace I’m going to set of a ‘Steak and Ale’ stew, I’ll then shove it in the oven on a very low heat until tea time. Sheila will have some lovely aromas filling the kitchen as she’s doing the ironing. Stay safe, stay sane, enjoy whatever you have planned for the day, back later. RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted November 18, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 18, 2020 Good morning all, Sunny here at the moment but some rain due later. Christmas tree is up and decorated. More stuff going up today. Hollyhocks to anyone else criticising - my little sister has already done so. She even asked if we've wrapped up all the presents. I said "Not quite, we've still got next year's to do but we're going to wait a bit before we cook the turkey and the sprouts." Have a good one, Bob. 3 18
