RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted November 13, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 13, 2020 A'noon. Bike ride and brunch successfully completed, venue for next week agreed, which could be a record. Didn't get wet other than a few puddles and things, so a result all in all. I'm still laughing at Tony's old college backing up to head cleaning tapes. Right up Andrew's street of profanity I imagine. 13

Tony Reminds me of the time that I went for a meal with some friends. Having chosen what we wanted and had it delivered we noticed that one of the assembled was carefully fishing out the ham from his pea & ham soup. When he was asked why he said that he didn't like the ham. He then explained that he knew he wouldn't like pea & ham soup but as there wasn't anything else he liked he felt obliged to order it. Suffice to say ever since we have dined together again he is reminded of this, particularly if pea & ham soup is on the menu. 6
Popular Post Ian Abel
Andy - be careful out there, my kids would refer to your mishap as "geezer down" as they do when I manage some sort of whoopsie! We need the ERs to stay safe out there. POETS, and another one where I'll likely take advantage. Since Wednesday I've been on hold waiting for confirmation (or otherwise) that the changes we made frantically at the beginning of the week are correct/what's currently required. Took a half-day already yesterday to bake for the evening with Jemma and Brendan. Excellent and most enjoyable time with them, dessert a success COVID ravaging the US now with alarming increases and record levels every day it seems, scary and we're limiting exposure now - not that we were going to raves and parties anyway!! . Little planned for the weekend except the "wiring" in the garage that keeps getting pushed to one side every time I try and accomplish it. There can't POSSIBLY be anything to stop progress this weekend, as best I can tell at the moment anyway - I'm sure "something" will be given a higher priority by the "local planner"!!! Blqqdy cold -11 getting the newspaper this morning, but sunny and forecast to be +1 for the high. Heading for the weekend... stay safe everyone! 7 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted November 13, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 13, 2020 Happy Friday all, And I sincerely trust that it is. Interesting weather-fest this morning at the House of Fun which saw pleasant (if cool) sunny bits followed by an all-enveloping blackness. Out of that came the most intense ten minutes of rain I have witnessed here in quite some time. Visibility reduced from "clear" to about 200 metres very quickly. And then it cleared again with intermittent sun returning but somewhat colder and breezier. Ah well. It is Novembrrrrrrrr. News from the Hill of Strawberries is that Neighbours (Next Door) are departing earlier than they had planned for their seasonal holidays. Exams have been brought forward by two weeks but then at zero notice by another week to accommodate the Gummint's directive on student travel. Directives are one thing but throwing the entire university into chaos - which seems to be all that this has achieved - is quite another. Some students are isolating, some have tested positive and none of those can therefore take the exams early nor leave their front doors. Others have had study plans torn up and thrown out of window twice in as many weeks and are now protesting that they have insufficient time to prepare for rescheduled exams which may affect their performance. My hammer was borrowed a couple of days ago and was returned today; I expressed the hope that it had only been used for its intended purpose and not as part of any out-taking of frustration on anyone else! I hope those waiting to book supermarket delivery slots are successful. I am on Ocado's priority list and was offered a Christmas slot a couple of weeks back so we are all booked in there; all that's needed is the final edit to the order a couple of days beforehand and a stand-by plan in case anything critical is out of stock. We are staying put throughout the upcoming season; it isn't sensible nor viable to consider any other option this year. I had also been twitching about the more immediate future as we have today's and next week's deliveries booked but beyond that there has been no availability. Until yesterday when I received a promotional email including the words "Shop Now". So I tried the link and found I could get a slot two Friday's hence meaning we are fine now for the next three weeks. BIN day has come and gone. The new wheelie bins are proving their worth as we no longer have any sciurine, avian nor vulpine incursions and our student neighbours have managed to learn how to balance bags of waste on top without opening the lids!!! Remaining tasks for the day include sorting images for a long-overdue project and having some time with SWMBO a bedroom project which involves furtling in the Waddlemarsh At 17 o'clock it will be time for Friday Drinks. There is plenty of choice. 20

Tony Valerie has just started a pan of 'proper stand yer stottie up in' broth. It is something we only tend to do in the winter months as it is both warming and filling. I have just returned from under the baseboard after some minor tweaks to the wiring. I will leave you, dear reader, to wonder whether or not I did a Grandad B. RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted November 13, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 13, 2020 Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Been bright and sunny most of today. Nipped down to Tess Coes and met my friend down there. His younger daughter, the one that is in care has been given a place in a converted house where young people like her are taught 'independent living', not that in her case she is ever likely to be completely independent. She will have her own room or rooms and is allowed her own furniture hence my friend has to move her bed from South Benfleet to Pitsea. Luckily I know a couple of people who have vans for when moving day comes.

RMweb Premium Popular Post NGT6 1315 Posted November 13, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 13, 2020 Cheers everyone. Been checking off a couple of items from our domestic to-do list as the weather was mostly dry, so, apologies. Bedtime‘s up, so I’d just like to leave you with a home improvement suggestion I saw on the German TÜV’s FB page and somehow can’t help finding worthwhile... RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted November 13, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 13, 2020 Evening all from Estuary-Land. I thought that the scrote on the scooter was out of it but earlier this evening there was another one about. But not for long though as he's been nabbed and apparently this one will be prosecuted. 18 2

No surprise that it split from top to bottom. He got his children to tie wrap it back together. We now have a bin that looks more like a laced-up football! There's a fair chance that a call to the council will result in a new bin FOC - there's a good chance the bin men may refuse to lift it one day as unsafe. 8 hours ago, simontaylor484 said: There is also a SWL on the bin lift on the back of the wagon that will cut out if overloaded. I'm truly stunned I've never triggered that. Must try harder...... I see that the Ripper has snuffed it, and not before time. If only he'd done it forty years ago he would've saved the tax payer a packet. RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted November 14, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 14, 2020 Good evening everyone Well the weather has been glorious today, lots of sunshine, but the wind picked up a little bit this afternoon, but nothing that would cause us anything to worry about. This made the walk to the butchers this morning was very enjoyable, the only downside was that once again, there were no pasties, so today I had a pork (gold medal winning) pie instead. The Trafford Centre was very quiet, so quiet in fact I was only out for about 50 minutes, including the travelling time there and back! The afternoon was spent reading on the the magazines that dropped through the door last week. The evening was spent catching up on some recorded TV, we also started watching a French drama series. When it comes to compacting the country contents of my garden waste bin, I’ve never been tempted to jump in it, instead I generally cut large branches etc up very small pieces, or I use my spade, not only does it squash it down, it also chops it up as well, works a treat. Goodnight all. 15 1 1

RMweb Premium BR60103 Posted November 14, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 14, 2020 (edited) They are preparing for the big move tomorrow. I won't be going to see it as they don't want crowds. The big bathtub has been ballasted and track laid. Not sure if they've glued it down. The move will be on farcebook (Guelph Museums) but I don't patronize that outfit. In the last photo, the loco is currently beyond the right side of the bridge in the background. It's being move so they can add tracks or a platform for more commuter service. The bridge was built double track size at the bottom but only a single track was laid across it.
