Yes it did as Sainsbury's delivered early, bin men collected and boiler man serviced the appliance and all went OK. 7 hours ago, Erichill16 said: I’m sure GDB would manage to get his X...s decorations somewhere and manage without set of new towels. You can switch back on, rant over. Not quite sure why I get a mention in your rant Robert? I've got plenty of Christmas decorations and towels thanks. As for online shopping I do a lot of it at the moment including Amazon. I don't particularly like their tax avoidance either but I'm not that principled I won't use them if I can get something easily for a decent price. P.S. And avoid going to the shops at the moment! Popular Post Andrew P
It's been a funny old day. Started off with another ride in a Big Yellow Box down to the local Hospital, YES, another HA scare, . I knew I'd over done things last week, when I started trying to convert the Loft for my Seven Mills Sidings Layout, and over did it a bit. Dee said I shouldn't be climbing around in Lofts, and carrying big sheets of timber up there on my own at my age. Anyway. It all went a bit Peet Tong this morning when I collapsed and Dee had to call 999. After many test, and checks I was declared as being almost alive, and so sent home late afternoon. The chest pains were as a result of me straining last week in the Loft. The collapse as a result of me using my Heart puffer when I was already feelin faint, so low BP, although it was 140/88 before my walk. The Paramedics were well impressed that I could show them the last weeks readings, but it was down to about 96 over something silly when they arrived and Heart Rate was about 35, so a little low. Anyway. Great treatment at the Queen Alexandra Hospital Portsmouth and by the Paramedics, NHS, second to none, THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN.

RMweb Premium Popular Post polybear Posted November 12, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 12, 2020 This afternoon my buddy next door asked me over the back fence: "Would you like a lump of Banana Cake?" Does a duck float? In a fit of madness I decided to remove the last remaining wall cupboard and move it into the lounge, resting on top of one of the base units shifted a few days ago. The wall unit was only held by four screws - but they'd been there thirty years, were tightened by a gorilla, were three inches long and one of the heads chewed off so the head had to be drilled off. 'Steward.... I've just phoned my mate over the road to see how he was - yesterday morning he went to check up on one of his mates at the bottom of the road that he hadn't heard from in a few days - he's had a drink problem for more years than I can remember and has been on a gradual self-destruct mission, despite all attempts to help him - in particular from my mate. My mate has a key and let himself in, only to discover his mate dead at the top of the stairs - he'd probably been there several days. As you can guess it's affected my mate quite a lot, especially as it's not that long ago that his mum died.

RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted November 12, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 12, 2020 Do be careful, Andy. HB wishes passed to Ian elsewhere, but it doesn't hurt to do so again! A lazy day really, although I did have another walk, in Royal Ramsey. Blowing a hoolie again outside now, but foreguessed to be OK tomorrow after a front passes overnight. Artur Itis isn't so bad today, I had a rough day yesterday with it. I have recently changed Pharmacies, mainly due to the franchised LLoyds branch that is the nearest one mis-dispensing three time, to a family owned independent one in Kirk Michael, 15 miles but I often go that way, Harry ex-employee lives there and he has three layouts......no, four, he has a garden railway too! 19

RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted November 12, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 12, 2020 Evening all, A nice sunny morning although it c;ouded over a bit later. Mrs Stationmaster attended her appointment at our local (almost) hospital - despite the fact that they had written her four letters about changing the time and date of her appointment - in every case from a date other than the one for which it had actually been arranged -what they failed to do was explaining the anti-Covid measures the have in place for getting into the building. She did get in but then went to the wrong place because nobody could direct her to the right place until she finally started knocking on doors until she found someone to ask. The appointment went reasonably well but it was in any case only about clearing ear wax ready for an audiologist appointment (which will take place by 'phone ). The next part of her day involved visiting Waitrose and judging by the shopping she had when i collected her that had gone well. And traffic wasn't too bad apart from cockwombles of the lowest order of cockwombleness who clearly believe that a double yellow line means 'park here' especially if doing so causes an obstruction, A further 5 32 toilet rolls at reduced price were added to the reserve collection - all of which has been purchased at reduced price. The town here has a weird selection of shops with basically not much in the way of proper local shops except an over-priced butcher and lots of equally over-priced clothing shops which are of no use whatsoever to 'man (or woman) at Cotton Traders'. We have a considerable number of chemists and pharmacies although one of the latter, Boots second branch which was small but right next to the Doctors' surgeries, closed a while back. The last local one has long been part of some chain and has a pharmacy about a hairs breadth removed from totally useless; Boots pharmacy is better but always busy and inconvenient as it means walking to or trying to park in the town centre; However Tesco pharmacy is excellent and bags of parking outside so we use that one. There is also a branch of Superdrug. Lots of restaurants and most of what used to be pubs that have survived seem to major on doing meals - I'm not sure if the lockdown will do for some of them? But online/mail or 'phone order shopping is unavoidable for lots of things once we get beyond food and basic household things so white vans are a common sight. Parking in town isn't too expensive but there are normally insufficient spaces and the shopping centre is really nowhere near as attractive or wide ranging in variety as Marlow's for some reason. andy please take care - no muddle railway is worth another trip to A&E. Enjoy the rest of your day folks.

Popular Post simontaylor484
Glad to hear you are ok Andy, My brother did some of his RAF medical training at the QA hospital in the late 90s. I thonk they came in useful on a Saturday night in casualty to subdue some of the more shall we say boisterous clientele. Back to other news i have been e mailed a Christmas present list from the youngest (10yo) top of his list a cross cut shredder and a new desk oh and some roadworks signs. In previous years we have had to buy trsffic cones and wet floor signs. He even has one like a banana. He is autistic btw and doesnt bother with toys apart from a harry potter themed item that runs on parallel lengths of metal. I would say most high street units are leasehold a lot of leases will be held by pension funds. Some years back, a mate of mine used to have a high street shop (albeit at the low rent end of the high street). Turned out that the landlord was one of the Oxford colleges. Some amusement when the shop next door was briefly taken over by some ladies offering "personal services". Was a college being funded by immoral earnings ? RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted November 12, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 12, 2020 Evening all from Estuary-Land. Andrew P, looks as if you'll have to do what you are told for the foreseeable future. Just found out that the local sorting office has staffing problems due to Covid 19 with many staff out self-isolating etc. The result is deliveries are delayed, I'm not expecting anything urgent anyway. The area affected also covers South Benfleet so I hope Tony isn't waiting for anything urgent either. 11 1
