Popular Post Erichill16
Evening All, Busy day today, mainly due to work so I haven’t been able to read all posts but I do know that Keith has had a lucky escape and Sir T is having bother at work so I really do hope he gets that sorted. cant offer any advice on kitchen appliances as its not my department but our induction hob looks nice. I think SWMBO would have preferred a gas one but it wouldn’t look as sleek as this! Anyway Night All, Robert x

Erichill16
Back again. Sorry to here about your domestic predicament Rick, I hope you get it sorted sooner rather than later. I hope I’ve not missed anything else, if so I apologise and hope it’s remedied ASAP. Peckers up. Robert 16
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted November 10, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 10, 2020 Evening all from Estuary-Land. My freestanding electric cooker is now about 30 years old. Its lasted so long because the oven is only used once or twice a year though the grill and a couple of the hot rings get used more often. I only use gas for the heating and hot water, the standpipe for a gas cooker is no longer connected anyway as the gas supply has been re-routed to the attic where the boiler now resides.

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted November 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 11, 2020 Good evening everyone Well we didn’t get any rain at all today, despite it looking decidedly dodgy first thing. In fact, the sun came out not long after this morning’s post and it warmed too, up enough for me to be able to sit on the bench outside the workshop and drink my mid morning muggertea! However, before I sat down to have my drink, I’d cleaned the patio, the path leading to the cellar, the cellar steps and the area in front of the cellar door and they all look a whole lot better for it. I also cleaned the decked area in front of the workshop, the bench and the paved area around the shed and they too look a whole lot better. Once I’d finished and cleaned down the pressure washer then had the drink mentioned above. I then moved into the workshop and made a start glueing the brick paper to the turntable well. I needed 4 pieces, each was 3/4 inch high and just short of 10 inches long to complete the job, that’s almost 40 inches in total! If the weather is fine tomorrow, the plan is to clean the front paving etc, then carry on with the turntable. Goodnight all 20

RMweb Premium BR60103 Posted November 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 11, 2020 We always had electric until we moved to this house. I don't think I've cooked anything on the gas. We also have a microwave and an electric oven (I think). We've had gas in the motorhomes plus microwaves. We never used the gas as we didn't trust the cats to stay away from it. Woke up one night to the gas detector alarm. Looked like one of the cats had stood on a knob on the stove and turned it on without the ignition. I took the knobs off it the next day.
Popular Post chrisf
Greetings one and all For PhilJW and anyone else who is interested, last night’s Zoomfest was a slide show by Jeremy Harrison of pre First World War images from the Ken Nunn collection, shared with all watching using the aptly named Share Screen facility. About 40 viewers joined at some point during the evening but not many from the host branch. We were asked to mute ourselves for the duration and unmute only when raising a point germane to the talk. One society whose meetings I attend regularly, when there are any, is plagued by members of the congregation rudely burbling to each other all evening and apparently paying the speaker no heed. Last night we had an e-burbler, who made prolific if not necessarily welcome use of the chat facility: “oh no it isn’t” was one of his more intellectual contributions. The RCTS tradition of a mid-evening break for a drink was maintained, though I should admit that I had been sipping from a can of Thatchers Gold all evening. What else to report? The fodder run was accomplished efficiently. I was in and out of Tesco well before 9 am. A split breakfast is quite an incentive to get it done quickly – cereal before going out, fry-up on return. I was grateful to the lady restocking the magazine racks for breaking her routine and fishing out the latest Radio Times for me. Sadly I will need the C*****mas double issue this year. Best wishes to all Chris 2 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted November 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 11, 2020 Mooring Awl Inner Temple hare, 753 /471 A poor night sleep, thought I hadn't slept for the first 3 hours but at one point SWMBO suddenly appeared in the bed... where did she come from.. must have teleported in.. the 2 hours solid, then 2.5 hours on the sofa.. once I had evicted Ben the toy fanatic Collie's collection.. We are on tanked gas that restricts the amount of cooking machinery that is available, and the supply in the kitchen is capped requiring some work to bring it back into use.. So we went with electricity. The original cooker we had brought with us died some years ago and was replaced by a built in and hob.. Both fairly cheap types as we had not a lot of money at the time.. We have only just lost a one ring, so we've had our moneys worth out of it.. Ben the reluctant Colllie refused to go out this morning , unlike yesterday when I got home, I got out of the car and started unloading he got in and refused to get out even with temptation of his favourite chew... in the end I had to pull on his collar and then he decided to come out.. The weather womble said the wind would blow the fog away... ERR no .. No wind. Heavier than yesterday for the first 5 Miles, then it abruptly changed fatchy pog. I finished one major system yesterday, shortly I'll go check the cross check results.. Then it's onto a set of current shunts, Then another Temperature meter.. This a meter That's not been back for cal before, and it's set to the French language... When leaving yesterday I notice the main temperature lab was recharging their liquid nitrogen system, I suspect there may be a demand for probes that can measure -80C. We would be able to store vaccines at below -80C but not much, as the tanks are only designed to hold a few probes at a time.. Time to.. wander down to the lab.. 20

RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted November 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 11, 2020 Good moaning from the Charente where fist and mog has appeared. We had some rain yesterday but I still got another segment of the jungle cleared. Freshly made cheese scones were the reward with a moggacoffee. Rick, i do hope that you get the hot water sorted. Maybe you shouldboffer free nosepegs to your neighbours. Sir T, I do hope that you get your workplace problems sorted. Here no agenda has been set for today but having seen what the seaweed twirlers have told us this morning may well be when the junglevis attacked. Today is acpublic holiday in France and normally we have a procession from the Marie to the Cenotaph and cemetery, then back to the Marie for drinks and nibbles. Thst's been cancelled but we might well walk down at 11.00. Jamie 3 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post Dave Hunt Posted November 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 11, 2020 (edited) Dull and miserable today and the weather's not much better. We're back to getting supplies delivered as far as possible so I've been phoning the market traders who will oblige and will shortly be trying to get a supermarket slot. Oh, frabjous day. So far no further daily orders have been issued although I know that feeding the birds, cleaning the bird bath and weeding the driveway will feature but first another muggocoffee. RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted November 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 11, 2020 Good morning everyone Another dull start to the day, but no overnight rain has fallen. The plans for the day are pretty much those mentioned last night, I will clean the front drive, if I haven’t finished for 11 o’clock, I’ll stop for the 2 minutes silence, before carrying on. After that I will decamp to the workshop and continue working on the turntable. Stay safe, stay sane, enjoy whatever you have planned for the day, back later. RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted November 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 11, 2020 Morning. Hard to tell looking out, dark, windy, wet and thoroughly miserable. I'm just two from four. Lunch out again today with another of Deb's ex-work colleagues, a really nice lady but whose husband is a complete bore. Hope he doesn't come too, but suspect he will. He recently started attending the same archery club as Deb, he was offering her advice from his 'vast experience' of almost three shoots - all the gear, no idea sort of bloke. He went all quiet when she won the bronze medal with almost double his score in the all-comers competition. 21 1 2

Best wishes to all Chris Thanks for that Chris. Quite a few useful tips in there especially the one about asking everyone to mute themselves though in our case the audience is usually respectful to our talkers when we have 'live' presentations. As for the e-burbler I think whoever is in charge can mute such individuals but perhaps they didn't want to cause any ill feeling. 2 hours ago, polybear said: That's done it.
