RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted November 2, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 2, 2020 Aditi had just had an awkward phone call. Her uncle from California rang to let her know that Aditi’s aunt in India has tested positively for Covid and is unwell and other members of the same household are waiting for test results though some have already exhibited symptoms. He said he had told MiL. So Aditi rang her Mum just to have a chat and check she was ok as she expected her to be anxious. So after a brief conversation it was clearly obvious that MiL hadn’t understood the phone call from her brother and hadn’t taken in how unwell her sister was. I suspect poor MiL hadn’t had her hearing aid in. Tony
RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted November 2, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 2, 2020 Evening. A day off for Mrs NHN still in a bit of recovery, so no computer time! Sorry about the various covid infection reports, still none current in the community here (lockdown DOES work if you behave - we got rid of it) thankfully but seven cases now from folk that have been allowed to come back but are in isolation. This increase is of course in line with the UK infection levels. After Stewart posted those 'Foxes and Fossils' clips I had been thinking about other female voices I really have enjoyed, and shortlisted....in no particular order, Annie Haslam, Mary Black and Corrine Drewery. Feel free to discuss! Miserable weather here today, frequent torrential showers, mostly between venues required to be visited by Mrs NHN (meaning - shops :-( ) my trousers were soaked through, I looked like an 'accident' had occurred. 1

RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted November 2, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 2, 2020 (edited) Evenin' each, Missed visiting earlier as I had to go out for a few hours and have since been busy with various mundane tasks. I believe a Labradoodle was mentioned earlier. Here's our friend's dog Benji making friends with The Boss (who as you can probably tell is a bit worried about it, she's always been frightened of dogs since being bitten as a child) ) but he's a lovely, lively friendly chap who does shed one hell of a lot of hair. Salad is on the menu all the year round here as well Mike and tonight it was accompanied by a generous slab of Melton Mowbray Pork Pie , some creamy mashed potato and a couple of glasses of Malbec. The Boss made an apple cake earlier (don't tell the hippo or the bear ) so I might have some of that later. I've had one piece already and it's definitely worth another go! Popular Post Ian Abel
Bah! Very late check-in for Moanday, it's almost Apocalypse day already! Weekend was a mixed bag, some annoyingly typical! Started out Saturday with some garage wiring tasks - well, I WOULD HAVE, if the blqqdy car had started so I could move it out of aforementioned garage Much time spent getting AAA (AA/RAC equivalent) out, who gave it a jump after messing some and recommended a new battery ASAP. Dutifully got vehicle up to the local place and they said they'd probably not get time to look at it until Monday!. Back home, much time wasted in the day - putzed some, then a call, the car was fixed, they'd had some free time to look at it. Picking it up finished off Saturday. Sunday, basically did what was supposed to happen Saturday <sigh>. Did receive and set up a heated bird bath though, feathered friends should appreciate that in the coming weeks and months. Daft client still hasn't responded with how the hell I'm supposed to connect to their system - another day today thumb-twiddling at their expense... Warmer here, -3 to start but up to 13 for a high. Think of us tomorrow as the excrement hits the twirling blades - it's sure to be a flustercuck no matter how it goes down. Sh!tstain-in-chief continues to rumor about doing things exactly wrong and ignoring the precedents, policies and laws it looks like, what a surprise there... Tally ho - actually we're probably going to bunker down!

Popular Post Erichill16
Evening, Ah,puppy dogs, can we have one, can we have one. I’ll promise to be good! Took Sydney for a good walk then off to Fox valley shopping centre to do more grocery shopping. As we had Syd I sat in the car while SWMBO (and Mil) did the shopping. Problem for me is there’s no ‘full line’ supermarket there, Aldi, Iceland etc so not many GF products available but got some cider and new ‘fish and chip’ flavored crisps. Not tried them yet bu I’ll report later but recon it will be a cross between salt and vinegar and prawn cocktail. We also came away with pickled onions but I’ve told SWMBO on several occasions only get Hayward’s sweet pickled ones. When I unpacked the shopping they were a nondescript brand and not sweet ones and to add salt to the wound it’s a giant bottle, but according to SWMBO they were cheap. No sh!t. Really need to go to M and S to get some decent bread, cereals, pies and (don’t read any further Flavio) ready meals. Had chicken stir fry tonight, usually one of my favorites but SWMBO had to use sweat and sour source instead of teryaki and we didn’t have any water Chesnuts so it was a little disappointing. I did add a few pistachios to give it a bit of crunch. That’s about as far as my culinary skills stretch. No, I tell a lie I can make toast but often burn it. Other than that a reasonable day, so goodnight, Robert 1

We're hearing he's already getting lined up for legal challenges in case he loses. Tw@t In other news: Bear has started the boxing in of pipework, with the worst bit going smoother than expected (if a little time consuming) - more to do tomorrow. Sitting here listening to the Fire Angel smoke alarm "peeping", indicating a low battery even though it's a ten-year jobbie that's nowhere ten years old. I've lost count of the number of times I've had to phone them for a replacement due to the same problem (I have ten of theirs) - in fairness they've never quibbled. At this rate I'll have smoke alarms for life, though I'm just waiting for the day when they suddenly say "Our records show that you've claimed quite a few off us, Mr. Bear...you ain't 'avin any more...." How many ER'ers overhear others saying things along the lines of "I'm not staying indoors for a month - they're not telling me what I can and can't do"? I overheard one of the Tesco staff on a mild rant this morning to that effect. Jeez, give me strength.... 1

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted November 2, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 2, 2020 Good evening everyone Well despite my best intentions, I never actually got any real gardening done today, but I did fix the fascia on the dining room skylight, which we heard flapping about last night. By the time I’d done that it was starting to rain, so I packed up and went to the workshop. Whilst in there I decided to re-sharpened my set of chisels (5 in total) and the blade from my wood plane. They weren’t really blunt, they were just a little dull. However, they are now very sharp indeed and the whole exercise only took about 45 minutes in total. In between the showers I did manage to pick about 18 of the apples off the tree, there are now about 6 left, which aren’t quite ready. As I was drying the apples for storage, I noticed that 3 had been pecked at by birds, so these had a piece of wire pushed through them and are now hanging from the bird feeder. This evening I completed the Sainsbury’s Grand Prix, it was surprisingly quiet and believe it or not, the shelves were well stocked too! We’d spoken to Vickie earlier this afternoon and she asked me to pick up a few items whilst I was there, so I dropped that off at Vickie’s before heading home. There wasn’t a great deal of shopping, only 1 small bag, but it’ll keep them going for now. Goodnight all 18
