Early Risers.

Good moaning from the Charente and day 4 of lockdown.  The builder came yesterday and gave us an acceptable  quote for the bathroom refurb. We then spent time in the garden, pruning bushes and fruit trees. I now have a better view out of the lounge window as the pomegranate bushbhas got 3 feet lower.

 

Notva lot got done in the afternoon apart from eyelid inspection. Then some friends who have just been to the UK called and made a socially distanced delivery. Mafaeking has been relieved, ECCLES CAKES were included in the red cross food parcel. Later I had a productive  hour in the shed.

 

5 years ago today we bought this house. How time flies.  We've now lived here fot two and a half years and are very settled.  

 

Anyway, there is not a lot on the agenda for today apart from a trip to the chemist and the hole in the wall.

Monring. Its been wet and windy here so not slept much since 1am. The impending lockdown has also been on my mind.

 

A busy few days as today I am visiting another property on behalf of my brother in HK. This one has an indoor swimming pool and a games room. If it was for me I would be measuring up these two rooms for layouts and cover over the pool - too much maintenance. I am not sure that I would want 7 acres to maintain either.

 

After that I hope to collect the last paving slabs required for the proposed outside bar area by the shed and I may also see if I can fit some of the timber in the car. I also must chase up to see if the old Probe has had the welding done yet so we can collect it and swap over with the layout mover thats currently at Mums.

 

Tomorrow is last meet up with friends and head to IOW before lockdown.

 

Wednesday mighit be more timber purchasing so that I can start the new bar area during lockdown, then head for our last Spoons breakfast and maybe to Guildford to purchase the turnouts for the N scale circuit on the shed High Line. The track has already been ordered but unfortunately no longer possible from Fraggle Rock. Then it will be for our last pub visits. Luckily our local brewery that we visited yesterday has now decided to open each day  till lockdown as normally its only open  Thursdays to Sundays. They are hoping that they can still do take out beer as they are a brewery as pubs wont be allowed to this time around.

 

Haircuts were booked for two weeks time but that wont happen now and I wont be surprised if our hairdresser closes for good as he was loosing money  not even covering the bills.

Morning all from Estuary-Land. I was going to have a haircut but its not so bad that it can't wait a while, depends on if there's a rush before the lockdown comes into force. Only shopping for bread and milk today, still blowing a hooley outside so not much can be done in the garden. Hopefully the middle of the week forecast is better for the G word. Time to run a bath, be back later.

Morning, calm is restored in the frozen NE of Sconny Botland, there's some high cloud, but it looks like a day for a walk somewhere with the camera, take care all and stay safe.

Bear has been for a trawl round the local Tesco Metro at half seven this morning, prior to having the "missing" blood test done at eight.  Stocked up on cereal mainly, plus sultanas (= DIY sultana bran), bananas, bread, milk, strawberry jam and a couple of packets of salted peanuts for chr*mbo.  It's only when trying to store this lot (not made any easier when half the kitchen cupboards are flat packet in the garden, waiting for dumping) that I realise I'm already pretty well stocked anyway.  Still, It'll all get used eventually.  That's me ready for lockdown

I really ought to do some more kitchen today (starting the boxing in of pipework) but my tigger bounce isn't very high at the moment.  Hopefully it'll improve once I start.....

Good morning everyone 

 

The wind and rain that were making them selves heard last night have abated and all now seems calm, if a little damp and grey. Now that breakfast is but a distant memory I will head outside and do a bit more leaf clearing, there aren’t many to do in the garden, so it won’t take too long to do. However it is a task that will probably go on for the next few weeks, until all the leaves have fallen from the trees. Once thats done I shall gather the last few apples from the tree, there are a couple of dozen left so I will need to store them, probably in the cellar. After that there are no firm plans, but there are plenty of jobs that I can tackle. 

 

I am probably among the ER’s who think that those in charge of the country, are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

Morning all,

 

Good to hear that Baz managed a successful encounter with the laser - apparently without feeling the need to redesign it (is that a first for an engineer?).

 

The sun is now beginning to shine as anticipated by the seaweed harvested from the estuary of the Exe.  But it follows quite a bit of wind and one or two bouts of seriously heavy, and noisy, rain.  The recently arrived little machine in an allegedly improved version of green runs very nicely although at least the bloke who came up with the colour didn't try improving the proper shade of green used on the superior railway.

 

Yesterday evening's roast chicken wasn't too bad at all - still not proper job but much better than many offerings.  Some of the remainder will be consumed cold with salad this evening - yes folks - salad in November.  But then we also have salad as a part of the overall Christmas menu as the cold meats are consumed so nothing really odd about salad at this time of year.

 

The local Tesco wasn't suffering too much in the way of a locust invasion yesterday but one or two essentials - such as Yorkshire Tea  - were out of stock although supplies are expected today.  Our toilet roll mountain has continued to benefit from current special offers and will no doubt be added to if the offers locally continue.  We normally only buy the stuff when it is on special offer as we do with quite a number of other household essentials such a s cleaning materials etc.

 

Currently the hero fox chasing mum cat is craving my attention adoration, a regular requirement with her.  But strangely she is not a lap cat and is not at all keen on settling herself down to sleep on a human although her son does that sometimes.  Total contrast with the previous pair who the instant they saw a recumbent human leapt aboard and made them selves comfy before going to sleep,  and one of them, the smaller one, also liked chasing foxes and seeing them off his premises.  And these two don't like being picked up or dried off with a towel when they come in soaking wet from rain whereas Henry, who preceded the previous two, would not only come in and be towelled dry but would immediately go back out again in order to get wet so that he could again be towelled dry.  Nobody owns a cat - we are their servants, and they know it.

 

 Incidentally I found out this morning that our chiropractor will not be closing during the upcoming lockdown although they did last time round - a careful interpretation of the new regulations on their part I suspect.  And this morning I made an appointment with the surgery for a blood test in two weeks time so they are definitely carrying on as normal as they are expected to do.

@The Stationmaster I could do a big improvement job on the laser.. very inefficient layout...  but we can leave that!

 

Been out for a walk - still breezy but quite mild.

 

Trying to book a meal out this week before Lockdown.. which, for Leeds, cannot happen soon enough.. Out move into Tier 3 has been cancelled until lockdown on Thursday. Hopefully though in this lockdown the availability of test kits etc will be OK here unlike the first lockdown where London needed them most... bless!

Morning all.

It is quite windy but must be coming from a direction that doesn’t blow the garden chairs about. We have had a few drops of rain. I suppose  I should be starting my daily walk routine again. My leg has healed really quickly and I don’t use my wrist for locomotion and to be honest I have had blood tests that leave more bruising than the wrist catheter site. The weather shouldn’t stop me as I still have all the outdoor clothing I used when I went out with the dog. Those who have read this thread for some years will recall that Robbie the Spaniel was an all weather dog. As other dog owners used to say “what do you expect, he’s a spaniel”. I have been teasing Aditi about getting one of the pups that our neighbour’s family in Wales have “acquired”. They have a Labrador. They thought she was no longer in season and went to visit some friends who live in an even more remote location than they do. Her dog and their dog, a Pyrenean Mountain dog went off for a run into their fields. The eight puppies are really cute .

Morning All

 

For once, all posts have been read and rated and I can honestly offer the most generous of generic greetings.

 

Been researching dolls house lighting, and I think that I have managed to get all the non working items replaced via the good offices of Ebay - and also some miniature rush matting for the floors - so starting to look good there.  Johnstones visited, also Home Bargains to stock up on a few household items, and another three bags of coal also obtained in same visit.

 

Lily now needs a walk, so back tomorrow, hopefully.

Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Had a long soak in the bath this morning so nuffink got done. A couple of parcels arrived from Hong Kong as well this morning. Both die-cast lorry models (I think I may be addicted to them) and both earlier than expected.

I know people cross labradors with poodles to try and produce something with the working characteristics of Labs but without the massive fur shedding.  We met a woman once who had one (a rescue I think). Hers shed masses of curly hair!
