In other news, and especially for those who worship the very thought of a mince pie or ten (those covered in white fur fit into this category, believing that such delicacies should be freely and easily available all year round as they form one of the "five a day" requirements) will no doubt find the following of great interest: https://metro.co.uk/2020/10/28/sainsburys-launches-mince-pie-cereal-for-a-christmas-morning-every-day-13493821/ Don't worry, the orange one has got it all in hand.
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted October 29, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 29, 2020 G'day all, Happy birthday Jamie, trust you will have an enjoyable day. (maybe some trainspotting while M. Macron still allows you out?). Hope the day will go well for Dave. And I hope Chrisf's alternative Christmas will work out well - at least you won't have too far to travel Here we have rain off and on - currently on - and it looks set to plague us for the remains of the day so it will again be motorised conveyance to the chiropractor's establishment. Where I sincerely hope I won't be told that my appointment was yesterday and why am I 24 hours late? No other news of any significance here so have a good day one and all and take care to try to stay safe. 14 2

And also wished likewise from here. What a rainy day. It's sadder than a bag of wet mice out there. I was accused of being a "bright spark in the gloom" more than once at the House of Fun. Honestly I'm not sure why. I'm sure all this precipitation will cease sooner or later. Meantime I'm off to investigate the fridge wherein I hope lunch resides. 19 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted October 29, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 29, 2020 (edited) Good afternoon from the Charente. The sun actually got up this morning to show me that I'd completed another circuit. Thanks to everyone for the good wishes. We really know how to celebrate here. Fish and chips tonight from the van. However, as well as several cards, a bottle of Knockando appeared and will be sampled tonight. Even better Emily sent me a painting. That and a card did make me feel that there was something in my eyes. I will be video calling her later. I the went out to buy two slightly smaller endcaps for the pipes at the back of the shower. The pipes are now capped and the remaining panels will be taken to the trailer this afternoon. Lunch is to be had shortly. I hope to hear good news from Tony and Dave after their procedures. The Nice thing is bad. One part of me wonders whether the Gendarmes need eye tests, only wounding him with 6 or 7 shots. The other part of me wonders if a long term of imprisonment will actually be a harsher punishment for the offender. Anyway 4 weeks of lock down now beckons. Regards to all. Ah yes, I used to be a pension consultant to Paten Hotels, who owned the Swan, way back then - ah must be 35 or more years ago now. I used to dine there after the annual trustees meeting of their scheme, and one of the others was the Rev Richard Paten, who was more interested in his Nene Valley activities than his trusteeship, and his directorship of the hotel chain - and it didn't take long between the two of us once the business was over and lunch was served to get onto the more interesting topic of railways. Afternoon All Sorry I've been AWOL, but more and even more decorating, doll's house fettling - managed to get the lights (well almost all) working, and some loose woodwork glued up, and general lack of mojo have all contributed to my not being here for a few days - I really hope all is well with everybody, as I've skipped so many pages. Part of 30747's work has been closed and the staff all laid off for a fortnight, due to one of the children (a baby) testing positive for Covid19. Meantime it's been absolutely chuckinitdarn all day hereabouts, and there is quite a lot of disruption on the trains through here. Snap. You and me both. This thing is taking a toll on a lot of us. It is noticeable that the return to restricted life, dark evenings and cool damp days has coincided with an abrupt and almost complete silence from most people (here excepted) I call friends. It would be really good to have a yarn over a coffee or a beer with another human. Outdoors if needs be. 2

RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted October 29, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 29, 2020 I have less excuse Rick, in that we're covid free in the community here so life here is normal bar the restrictions of our borders being closed, but......bleah. Missing our trips away I think, we usually go to the Lakes in the van in Sept/Oct and that is hurting. Her ladyship is having a few heath problems too, which hang on the mind. I kicked my own backside down to the garage for a while and wore my fingerprints off doing a good clean on one of the bikes, that probably won't go out until spring now, but my heart wasn't really in it. The pleutation has finally stopped, there's only 10mm in the rain gauge, but I suspect it doesn't catch much when the rain is horizontal. It wouldn't pass Q's calibration tests I fear as it owes more to Woolworths than the NPL. 7

The harshest punishment would be for the offender to know that he would be buried in a mound of pig entrails. 3
