RMweb Premium southern42 Posted October 25, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 25, 2020 I forgot to mention, this morning, that we had a thunderstorm during the night. I thought nothing of it when I got up, took the breakfast bowls out of the dishwasher and found them with flakes of oats still on them and washed them clean. Going back into the dishwater, a little later, to empty it, I discovered a layer of water in the bottom and some other items coated with bits of food. Something gone wrong? Sort after breakfast... Then it twigged. The clocks on the oven and microwave oven were flashing when I arrived in the kitchen... Aha! A power cut...? Dishwasher reset and it is fine. 9
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted October 25, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 25, 2020 Afternoon All Mucho skipping has had to happen - so as usual these days, many posts have not been read - generic greetings are the best I can offer. Main reason for this is that the D word has been uttered again - this time the kitchen, which needed several walls painted, ceiling ditto, gloss work redone as it was allegedly tatty, then the most awkward wallpaper was hung - it has an 80cm repeat, and would not match unless jut about all of the 80cm was used, so there's only one roll left where there should have been two - but it was only £8 for five rolls at the car boot. Back sometime next week Regards to All Stewart 6

Bear is somewhat mystified It seems that 14 days is the quarantine time for C-19. But now some joker is suggesting that this could be dropped to 10 or even 7 days, as "there is a better chance of people actually sticking to it". But won't that mean that people come out of isolation still potentially with the lurgy? Confused..... In other news: Bear has at long last filled the gap between sub-doorframe and wall - which took a morning of bvggering about; the mortar gun behaved faultlessly...at first.....then on the second fill of mortar it started playing up. Squeezing the trigger achieved not a lot...so squeeze harder, until......a mortar tu*d shot out of the end of the nozzle, straight thru' the gap behind the frame and across the lounge and landed in....Bear's slippers.... No laughter allowed now.... 2 10

As a front row forward you rely on the guys behind you to bind well. If they don't, you get lifted out of the scrum and penalised - both by the referee and the displaced rib cartilage. 1 2 7

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted October 25, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 25, 2020 Afternoon awl, First school was athletics and football then we got a new person teacher... Yep another Welshman, and suddenly we had to do rugby and cricket.. He wasn't impressed we hadn't got a clue, it's wasn't a rugby area.. Then came cricket, he got most upset we didn't turn up in whites, a country council school.. He was lucky if we had pt kit... The second secondary school, PT, was a kick around on a pitch with burn running across it at 45degrees. Third secondary school football, shinty, and cricket.. Foot ball I played goalie, saved all that running around, shinty I got rid of the ball as quickly as possible, it's safer that way, cricket somewhere in the out field, very little running about. The conservatory repairs took longer than I thought, I suspect rats, have been chewing away in some places, and at the putty... Lots of filler, and gue to seal it all after clearing away the loose stuff. I then went to the garage, to assess where to put the wiring, so I looked up.. and..... Another hole, so I got the ladder out, went up there and sealed that, then found another one.... Looked for the roll of flashing tape it'd gone... The wind has taken it off the roof down the back. As there were 3 holes under the corrugated roof I took a expanding foam tin. On its use, after the second hole the can, leaked at the top, not through the nozzle, but the rubber next to it, foam everywhere, I did manage to fill the third hole. My hands covered in sticky foam. Taking the can to the bin I left trail of foam. Then back to the roof, I checked, and sealed anything looking doubtful. The roof, is now near pure white, when I cleared it, it was dirty brown. Just I was packing up SWMBO appeared with the phone.. It was my sailing compatriot... He's finally had the meccano in his thigh replaced, it's now much more stable and after a couple weeks he's already able to take a couple of steps unaided. Something he's not done for 14 months.. I finally got the stuff off the roof at sunset. 1

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted October 25, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 25, 2020 Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Arthur Itis has started banging away again so a couple paracetamols have been taken. Watching Countryfile at the moment but when that finishes a switch over to the GP highlights, if previous programs are anything to go by I should do so a few minutes before the start of the race.
tigerburnie
Evening all, a pleasant if somewhat windy walk with the family stayed dry and although short, the walk recharged our batteries, nice to see the grandsons, pity our sons family live so far away, no idea when we will see them, thankfully video calls help. Might try and get some muddling done in the coming week. 14

RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted October 25, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 25, 2020 Evening orl. Ah, games. Not something I could really be associated with, although I was pretty OK at hockey, and later in life demon at table tennis. My skills in footie and rugger are down there with my knowledge of Russian literature. Nil. Lurker, when you were looking at that statue of Churchill, you were observing the work of Mrs NHN's grandfather, who was the stone mason who made the plinth. The day after delivering half a tonne of leaves to the tip seemed to revolve around coffee houses of Fraggle Rock, as I ate at one where Mrs NHN didn't fancy anything, then another vice versa. Plus a coffee afterwards! GP was quite good, rounded off the evening. 20

That I can fully understand, having a range of mature sycamores at the bottom of the garden and an abandoned orchard over the back of that! None of which we can cut down...... Another coffee was had at the Point of Ayre (like John O'Groats), where the resident of the lighthouse has set up a little coffee stall - which the local commissioners (council) are trying to shut down as 'someone complained' about it. This is a regular spot for loads of people to visit and walk and very popular - so why not? If she gets stopped I bet someone 'of influence' sets up a franchise there a week later.....grrr. The lighthouse, looking south, Snaefell in the distance. Chateau NHN is over the right about two miles.

The horse was busy trimming the adjacent grass. Adrian

I have to say that the worst experiences I ever had on that score was when i played for a team where we had an all Welsh front row - sometimes the noise was deafening and I hated it when we tried keeping the ball in and making ground. About 5 years ago a horse was found in the back yard of a flat on Carlton street in Castleford the yard was tiny and you had to go round the back of the Argos delivery bay to find it. It was a flat above a shop in the town centre that backed on to the shopping centre and it was a large horse (not the type of big horse Swmbo asked for) 11
