RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted October 2, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 2, 2020 Very strange it came up with text in the entry box from several days ago... Evening Awl, So far Alex has made no real Impression here, a little breeze and some rain. Just back from the MRC where they are still drying out the carpets at the entrance from our unnamed storm last week. It also turns out the roof panels we heard sliding on our roof last week before crashing into the ground, were from an adjoining building. One problem at the MRC, I needed my tool box and the tool box is in the landrover which is at the garage.. So my planned work did not go ahead, but with the help of club tools and a few of my own I did manage to keep myself occupied.. Mostly fencing again. I was again generously gifted more muddling stuff mostly with metal wheels, relevant to my area of interest, along with a bag of nuts...walnuts, they have a walnut tree in their garden. It's noticeable trees are dropping their leaves or going brown very rapidly, it's almost as if they thought after last weeks storm, we'd better lose them now before the next gale. As for the land rover it's now passed its MOT, which with repairs and service cost £600. The repairs were a new wiper motor, and a UJ on the steering. I'll pick it up Monday, as a little family run business they don't work weekends.. They go play with their own landrovers.. In a very muddy sort of way.. Time for bed said Zebedee, goodnight Awl..

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted October 2, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 2, 2020 Good evening everyone Whilst I was in the butchers, my cousin came in, it’s been exactly 4 weeks since I last saw her and that was also whine I was at the butchers! The trip to the Trafford Centre was uneventful, the amount of people not wearing masks seems to be getting less as time progresses, so some improvement there I think. Once I’d returned home and packed away all the shopping I went to Vickie and Ian’s to drop off there anniversary present, it’s a day early but at least they’ve got it in time. After dinner I set up the old laptop and did a few amendments to some drawings, there weren’t many to do so it didn’t take long. Once that was done I then made a large batch (10 servings) of celeriac soup, we had a bowl each for tea, the rest were frozen once they’d cooled down. Goodnight all 18

RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted October 3, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 3, 2020 (edited) 7 hours ago, Ozexpatriate said: A week ago I had decided to spend a couple of days at the coast. We've had mostly delightful weather but I picked the first major rainstorm of the Autumn/Winter seasons and the drive over was horrendous with very limited visibility at times. A couple of ERs are familiar with the Pelican on the beach at Pacific City. Open but a strange experience in these CoViD days. Simply crossing the street from the pub after dinner, the right side of my trousers were saturated. The rain was almost horizontal. Ian @roundhouse might like to know that their Märzenbier (Bronze God) was very good (bottled six packs were also locally available), as was the "Turkey bird" a red/amber ale aged in Wild Turkey whiskey barrels. We should have been visiting Pacific City back in July but fingers crossed for next year although not holding my breath. We have been to the coast in brilliant sunshine and also very heavy rain. Thats one of their brews that I have yet to try. Also we have yet to visit Pelicans tow other more recent establishments in Tillamook and Canon City. However just planning a road trip around the UK is not that easy these days due to loco lockdowns popping up around the country. We have booked a trip on the Churnet Valley railway with breakfast for £20 each which isnt bad considering that some preserved railways are charging £75 for a compartment - good value for a family but for just two of us its quite pricey especially if you are not allowed to wander around the stations at each end. All hotels booked so far can be cancelled at last minute just incase the local area stops people form travelling in and out. Strangley, Thornbridge Brewery tap in Bakewell doent allow groups (max 6 of course) from different households but I am not aware of the area having such a lockdown. If we do visit the brewery, it will just be the two of us but accomodation isnt cheap in that town. Today we are down on the coast for haircut and see other halfs Mum. So some overgrowth cutting in her Mums garden and maybe a quick pint opposite but then will have to rush back to collect the other car from the garage. Popular Post chrisf
Greetings one and all I was put off the fodder run yesterday by heavy rain but it can wait no longer and whatever the elements are this morning I must brave them. The task is best tackled early to leave the rest of the day for more enjoyable things. Who am I kidding? A full load of ironing awaits! Whatever else happens, there will be a short interlude at about 10.30 while I watch a clip from a bygone Keith Floyd cookery programme on "Saturday Kitchen Live". That man had style and no mistake. What else awaits me? I am part way through writing the next instalment of the Class 116 saga and I really ought to check out one of my spare tool boxes to see whether it is suitable to accommodate my tools in such a way that I do not have to empty out the box just to find a needle file or something equally small. There is also the prospect, which alternates between tantalising and daunting, of making progress on one or more m*d*ll*ng projects. Ahead of what I expect to happen in about three weeks' time, I might start making contingency plans for my first UK C*****mas since 2004. I might, but how on earth do I plan for what that ruddy virus will do next? A few weeks ago my e-friend Harry had a short break near Cardiff, narrowly missing the lockdown now in force. I'm not scared of the virus but as long as so many people are and use it as an excuse for not doing something there will be difficulties everywhere. Best wishes to all, in spite of everything! RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted October 3, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 3, 2020 Good moaning. It's not raining at the moment which means that it probably will be soon. However the morning will soon be brightened by a video chat with Emily and her Mum's. We almost brikecopen a bottle of champers yesterday as after 2 hours of effort Beth managed to submit her online application for a French driving licence. That is a real result. In the afternoon another result was achieved. For several months I've been trying to log onto the Orange website to check our phone and internet bills. I tookthe bull by the horns and rang the French speaking helpline. 45 minutes later and after 2 call backs from Irange thecproblem was sorted. I do however need to access the site from mynlaptop using Firefox but I got another result. In the evening I even managed some time in the shed with various small tools and bits of metal in my hands. i got another result as a scuffling noise was heard and mynold truncheon was used to despstch a mouse that was then put out to be recycled by the owls. Result 3. After the video call this morning I'm off shopping for a cordless drill, my first ever. On the Covid front my eldest's future brother in law has been admitted to Telford Hospital with The dreaded lurgi. He, his wife and daughter all tested positive after a holiday in Turkey. We are hoping for a good outcome. Regards to all. Jamie
RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted October 3, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted October 3, 2020 Good morning all, Dull, dismal and damp drenched here. It may (or may not) brighten up later. Happy Anniversary to Peter and Mrs BB and I hope you manage to enjoy your weekend. No rugby to watch today so The Boss has suggested that I spend the day "in that large expensive shed you had built at the end of the garden." She has some good ideas sometimes. Nothing else to report at the moment so I bid you farewell for now, Have a good one, Bob. 20
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted October 3, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 3, 2020 Ey up! Post attempt 2. Chuckinitdarn here this morning. This weekend should have been spent eating pies, drinking beer and creating chaos on a near scale representation of Chapel-en-le-Frith (Central). But wigan show was cancelled so I may have to find other things to do. Pah!!! The day will probably consist of cutting and pasting the family tree together ..just wish I had an A0 printer!! Enjoy your day whatever you do! Baz 16
RMweb Premium TheQ Posted October 3, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 3, 2020 Mooring Awl, part 2, Not much further sleep was had, Ben the I want out Collie had other ideas, he immediately charged down the garden, I didn't see what it was, but we have seen a muntjac and fawn in the garden a few times recently. The garden looks like its winter, many trees shrubs, plants are going rapidly brown, battered by last weeks storm, leaves dropping everywhere. Today's planned work, weather permitting, Jack /hoist up the boat, insert more support blocks, lower boat, Get ladder to the telephone attachment to house, the cable is OK, but the support tensioner seems to be adrift. Make the missing piece for the entrance plywood wall to the alleyway. Its an odd shape, and will need lots of measurements. Time permitting after that, start cutting cladding to fit over the plywood, it will use lots of the shorter bits left over from the BBQ cladding.

RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted October 3, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 3, 2020 Morning. The reply box was empty this morning, last night it had stuff from weeks ago in it. Grey and 11c out, grey and warmer inside. Mrs H off to Pilates soon, when I have a walk and a brew but after a very poor night's sleep it may not be much of a walk. Then some minor shopping and lunch maybe in Laxey, at that veggie/vegan/still hungry restaurant maybe. If not there than maybe the Pavillion up the glen. Rainfall radar show the pleut is on its way, maybe by lunchtime. The northeast looks like it is having red rain currently. 2

Popular Post Erichill16
Morning All, I used to have one large modelling toolbox that I kept everything in, Everyday tools, specialist tool and bits and bobs that had fallen of models and I’d not got around to fixing. I’d taken it to my pharmacy along with my diy toolbox just in case there was something in it that may need for a DIY session at work. Whilst loading up after doing the work someone sneaked into the van and stole both of them. I was devastated. Since then i leave the specialist tools at home in a separate box and don’t leave bits of models lying in any toolbox. Lesson learned. Anyway enjoy the day as much as the weather will allow. After a really good soaking last night, we now have that very fine drizzle that seeps into your clothes and soul when out walking. I shall remain inside and do home Pilates. The advantages of home Pilates are: 1. You don't have to pay for the lessons. 2. You can just talk about doing it. I should emulate GDB and go to my large expensive shed and do some work, although in my case it will be to see whether our neighbour's electric steam iron is repairable. 17
