Popular Post Andrew P
Morning all, Yes, 2am. well the Good Lady was in pain, and couldn't sleep. I couldn't settle as I was worried about her. She was in the chair in the lounge, so I crept in to check on her, woke her up startled, she yelled with fright, I yelled with fright at her sudden yell, and so here we are, now both wide awake, on our devices and having a milky coffee and tea cake. Night all. Edited September 2, 2020 by Andrew P 1 1
RMweb Premium BR60103 Posted September 2, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 2, 2020 The Gas Company we dealt with is one of Canada's largest and even has controversial pipelines in the U.S. We now have a working vacuum cleaner again. Last week the central unit refused to shut off. It was taken away, had a circuit board replaced and was returned late this afternoon. At 6:00 there was a performance rehearsal by The Lady and the Gramps -- our local Dixieland group. Thunderstorm held off but I hear it's going through the north part f the county.
Popular Post chrisf
Greetings one and all, with a special welcome home to Dave. My neighbour Mrs Electric-Chair did me a huge favour yesterday. She put a note through my door asking if I could possibly lend her my green bin. Unlike me, she is a keen and assiduous gardener and keeps on top of the task of removing surplus vegetation. Her bin was overflowing and the job far from done. Despite my own good intentions, it became clear a few days ago that the jungling would not get done before Thursday when the bins are due to be emptied. It was, therefore, no hardship to help her out. Long term I have stored up problems for myself, but short-term I have saved myself some aches and pains and lent a bin, and a helping hand, to a good neighbour - a good outcome, methinks. A couple of days ago I asked what the connection was between “Dancing in the Street” by Martha and the Vandellas and “Amazing Grace” by the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. Sadly no-one has even ventured a guess, much less submitted an answer. The answer that I sought was Alan Freeman, who perceived rightly that both tracks should have been released as singles and played them on the radio week after week until the record companies capitulated. Both enjoyed notable chart success. Old Fluff sure knew his stuff. Best wishes to all Chris 11 1 10
RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted September 2, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted September 2, 2020 Good morning everyone It’s a long time since I’ve been up THIS early to be heading off somewhere and that’s for sure! Alas it isn’t for something that I really want to do, for once I’ve finished my muggertea I’ll be heading off to The Christie for a CT scan. Luckily I won’t be there as long as I was last week when I was there almost 5 hours. Today’s procedure takes just over 2 hours, most of which is waiting around! I should be home in,entry of time for dinner, so there’s no need for a packed dinner today. Once back home, the plan is to do bu99er all, something I can manage to do quite well. I’m hoping at this time of the day the roads are quite and that the carpark isn’t as busy as it usually is. Last week I used the overspill carpark and managed to secure the last place. A few weeks ago I ended up once again securing the last place on the top floor and there are 12 floors, that’s a lot of stairs. Of course I could use the lift, but using the stairs is healthier so they say. Stay safe, stay sane, enjoy whatever you have planned for the day, back later. RMweb Gold Popular Post roundhouse Posted September 2, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted September 2, 2020 (edited) In the last few days I have been doing gardening in three different places and today might make it four when I visit Mums. My other halfs mums place the brambles are as big as some of the trees. Last year I chopped a lot down and found the greenhouse again. With lock down, last Saturday was the first chance that I have had since to have another go so it had started to become quite overgrown again but now most brambles have been cut back. Next doors garden is also now getting more under control and I have now put grass seed down where some bushes have been removed along with any shoots reappearing after digging the bushes out. Our neihgbour now needs to replace the rotten fence but has to wait till probate has been sorted since her husband died in July. Once his car has been sold she intends to also re-do her kitchen. With the recent rain our garden is now looking green again and with the garden lights along with those on the shed its looking quite good at dusk. Yesterday I managed ot repaint most of the fascia and soffit board to the rear of our house and started on the fascia to the garage at the front. I also cleaned down the neighbours fascia at the front plus unblocked the gutter outlet / downpipe that was overflowing each time it rained. Today after visting Mum with the food shopping and tending to her garden I am hoping to comlpete painting the rest of the rear fascai and soffit and as I will do this form the neighbours side so I can reach past our conservatory I will also clean her fascia etc. Its good to be busy but its reducing my modelling time. RMweb Premium TheQ Posted September 2, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 2, 2020 (edited) Mooring Awl, Inner temple hare, 7 hours sleep with just two wake up and roll overs Yeah!!! Local head lines.. Man scraped off scalp against bridge in Boating accident, fell to floor..!!!!!! Translation... Stood up too soon, hit his head on the bridge, sat down rapidly, needed a few stitches. Wife bravely took over control and managed to bring motorboat into moorings !!!... She's an experienced Motorboater,, it was no problem, a boat yard was 50ft away.... Inshore rescue boat crew called out!! why? they were moored up by a boatyard, but at least they helped with first aid, till the ambulance turned up... from half the distance, the lifeboat travelled (by road). oh and the paper got his age wrong.. Moral of the story,, don't believe everything you read.. Wife comments on the forum.. I'll let a certain dingbat tell the story. How do I know this? he, the casualty, is a regular contributor to a Broads forum, now very embarrassed, was able to continue his holiday later that day.. Meanwhile 7 miles north by river , from site of the accident (Ludham Bridge), It's really hit the fan about the closure of Wayford bridge, 2nd November for 3 solid weeks for bridge repairs. The A149 is a major road, everyone is complaining about the closure.. The official diversions will be for miles. So from the wrong side of the bridge to the road to North walsham it's a 20 mile round trip to do 400 yards in distance.., Though locals will use some single track roads it's still going to be a major problem. I'm waiting to see what the newspapers can get wrong about the closure.. In other news.. Very cool the forecast for Norwich was 5 C and being out in the countryside it's chillier. Scattered light cloud, a beautiful pink colour, lit by the sun hidden behind the sand dunes as I left for work.. Next door neighbour can't cope with her new camera, so I've printed out the full manual, just the English version, from a down load... 113 pages!!! I see they are trumpeting the schools are back.. Not everywhere they aren't, Norfolk don't go back till next week, except for a those joining a new school, who may go in Thursday and or Friday.. I do look forward to it though, Effin clown town was packed, the boat yard car parks full, traffic jams both ways as cockwombles keep stopping the let the effin clowns cross the road, when there is a pedestrian crossing to use 100 foot away.. Big orange shed on the way home, tile cement and some wood paint of the fence variety required.. This has taken an hour ish to type between current measurements, about 2 more hours to go on that.. Time for another one... Edited September 2, 2020 by TheQ 17
RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted September 2, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted September 2, 2020 Good moaning to all. It's sunny here and not a cloud in the sky. First of all good news that Dave is back home. Whether he survives seeing his Midland engines having been painted green remains to be seen. I do wonder how they are going to remove the tank from Crewe, it won't fit the UK loading gauge. The news about the sub in the upper Severn seems to have escaped the mainstream media. Perhaps a D notice has been issued. My old Volvo got it's annual service yesterday it's now nearly run in at 180,000 miles. Today I need to go and move a piece of furniture that's in the sun where it is, apart from that not a lot is on the agenda. I may well make a start on putting up a gatepost and do a bit more scanning. I'm now up to 2002 with the negatives and have managed to date a few more using events such as a wedding, a masonic dinner with my brother in law pictured, and seeing my uniform cap on a coat hook in the background of one of them. That dated it precisely to Millennium eve when we were all scared of the Millennium bug. We survived that so perhaps there is hope for us all yet. Brian, I hope that your scan goes well and that the results are good news Regards to all. Jamie 18
Popular Post AndrewC
Greetings from the boring borough. Bright and sunny at the moment. Some bloke called Hank Marvin knocking on my stomach. Getting used to such a lack of calories takes a few days and I'm suffering a bit. Congratulations Dave on making an escape. Hopefully you will be back to 100% sooner than you would have in the horse's piddle. Mr, Roundhouse. Show them the picture of your disco balls. SWMBO is still on furlough. We really aren't sure or convinced that she'll ever go back. Although some of the other company offices have reopened, the little one she works in hasn't yet. Most likely it will get merged with one of the others et voila, P45. On the other side of the coin, no rest for me. Several new projects that had been stalled are looking for quick starts now. I should be fully occupied until this time next year. With the employer this means a lot of begging and grovelling to get any scheduled leave. I should probably get some coffee and work done. Although today, I feel like just sitting outside and emulating the plant life. Enjoy the day. 3 1

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted September 2, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 2, 2020 Morning all from Estuary-Land. Happy birthday Tony, I'll give you a wave when you go to the hospital if it wasn't for a few houses in the way so here's one. iL Dottore
Good Morning All, That's a lovely garden, roundhouse, 'tis a pity that so-and-so Beeching got his hands on it. It very much looks like, on the left of the picture, that there is a small country station with all the tracks torn up! On the positive side, you could sell the defunct station to some gnomes or field mice who want a trendy "des res". On the the subject of quiz type questions. Here's a few: Other than being authors, what do A.J. Cronin and Arthur Conan-Doyle have in common? Who is the odd one out: Thomas Addison, J.S. Haldane, Charles Darwin, A.J. Cronin, Erasmus Darwin? If you were offered C2H5OH & dihydrogen monoxide with a little 2-hydroxypropane-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid and a splash of (5-ethenyl-1-azabicyclo[2.2.2]octan-2-yl)-(6-methoxyquinolin-4-yl)methanol, would you drink it? If yes, what would you be drinking? Finally Which metal is not used to treat malignancies: Gold, Platinum, Silver? Have fun! iD p.s. RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted September 2, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted September 2, 2020 Eldest lad had a trial in a butchers again yesterday and after 3 hours got a call to come and collect him, feared the worst but he said it went well, then got a call from the college and the butchers have agreed to take him on as an apprentice, he was sent home as the days work he was given to do, mincing and making burgers etc he did in the 3 hours he was there! hes made up obviously as are we but the butchers is in kelsall near Chester which is a 12 mile trip each way which with me being on shifts and my wife having to get the younger one up for school means we won’t be able to take him there everyday, it’s not on a direct bus route from Crewe, he would have to get 2 buses at almost 2 hours or a train to Chester and bus back to kelsall at an hour and a quarter but it’s the cost of that 4 days a week that’s prohibitive My wife and I had discussed a few months back getting him his CBT so he could get a moped/motorbike If he got his work placement a distance away so we have gone down that route, only being 16 he is limited to 50cc/30mph which is a bit of a worry as the road to kelsall on the non 30/40 bits can be very heavy, id have preferred him to be able to have a 125/60mph machine to keep up with the traffic flow but so be it, nothing I can do to change the law! we've seen a few Decent 50s though, looking about £1100 for a brand new one on the road with 5 yr warrantee, he has the money to buy it himself When he finds the one he likes, then of course he has to insure it, buy wet weather gear, fuel, helmet etc! 6

Big news.. I'm back in my little lab, getting cold,, it's only 23.18 C in here, it was pushing the upper limits of 23.5C down where I was temporarily.. (it would get a lot warmer when they ran the next equipment on 100A). Not quite fully in, I have to rescue my radio to keep me company, I'm a lot happier though... No possible covid cases walking past me, No one walking past and upsetting the readings.. No one chatting about football near me.... There will be a few hours off in the future, when the replace the broken casing of the outside unit.. 17

At 1970 feet, it isn’t officially a mountain by 30 feet, but it is still a good walk. We made a circular walk out of it, which meant about 4 hours walking in total, and about 2500 total feet of ascent. My level of knackeredness considerably exceeded yesterday’s! On the way home, we tried to buy some Cumberland Sausage from Woodall’s in Waberthwaite, who arguably produce some of the best sausage in the county, but sadly they had closed when we got there. I shall have to go to a local butcher instead for dinner tomorrow! And going back a hundred years... 15 1

That whole block of city names was reused on a batch of Experiments built in Jan-Feb 1906, so I suppose No. 565 was also named after the liner rather than the city. 12
