Don't worry Mr Hunt called in a couple favours from the rest of the family - not seen much action since this ruddy virus kicked in so they were only to happy to help, and I believe a submarine, hunter killer class is now proceeding up the River Severn. I'm told the cruise missiles can be launched whilst submerged so the goons won't know where the've come from. Baz can then finish off any pockets of resistance.

 

Give my regards to the captain, married to 2 nd cousin I believe. Only met him once and seemed nice enough chap despite drinking all the rum.

Sorry about this Mr Hunt but Memsab heard that you might be seeing the Captain- you see it's her side of family father said  salt and soil don't mix. Greetings all from Sidcup where it is a bit cloudy. Brand’s Hatch was cold and we came away early but the British GT racing was quite good; the stint by a 22 year old who until this year has only done e-racing was very impressive- he was more than 25 seconds clear when a safety car just before the end of his 62 minute stint cut that to almost nothing.

Evening all,

Not managed to post for a couple of days.  We have no 1 son and daughter in law staying with us for a week.  Today, we went for the longest walk I have managed since before lockdown.  We did the first few miles of the coast to coast walk over St Bees Head in largely sunny weather.  It was as busy as I have seen it along that route, but social distancing wasn’t a problem!  We were out for about 5 hours, which included a picnic lunch stop, so I am now pretty knackered!  We arrived home to find the live T20 on the TV, so managed to watch half of England’s successful run chase against Pakistan.

 

Tomorrow’s plan is currently another walk, this time in the “hidden valley” aka Miterdale in the West Lakes.  We have walked it many times and it is never busy.

Sorry to hear Dave's news - most disconcerting, but unfortunately, it does seem to be par for the course - joined up it isn't, and I can verify that from personal experience.  I was left in a bed while they to'd and fro'd tying to sort out my admission, until the pharmacy was closed, and I was left without all my prescription drugs (it was an emergency admission) or my insulin, and by the next morning, when 30747 was able to bring everything in, my blood sugar was about 18.5, and as a result, they wouldn't even consider my for surgery until it was a lot lower.

 

Otherwise, it is the usual generic greetings.

 

VIsited the A6 car boot with 30747's niece, then car got a very thorough wash, polish, and clean internally - almost four hours all told.

This is the RAF you are talking of.

 

He'd only get the answer phone on a weekend, and it's a bank holiday.

 

First available strike mission would be Tuesday, probably sometime after NAAFI break, if he's lucky.

Sorrty tp heart that Dave is still stuck in SalopLuft 1 - maybe there'd be time to build the glider after all.  Now the next thing you need to get right is not to be left on a trolley somewhere in the hospital - probably after the scan - and be told 'we'll be back in a few minutes to get you on your way'.  Last time that happened to me they forgot I was there and even went to the extent of returning the wrong Mike to Mrs Stationmaster who was awaiting my return in A&E and duly sent them off to find me.

 

As fir the online app I must be living in some sortt of bubble of NHS  efficiency.  apart from them ups*dding the password - solved by a single 'phone call to the surgery it has worked a treat for ordering prescriptions - which is just as well as come the lockdown the surgery, and the Tesco pharmacy, immediately banned paper prescriptions or (at Tesco) just giving them a note for the order.  all the local pharmacies were listed so no problem choosing the one we use (Tesco) and generally the system works well and is quicker than the previous system by, usually, one day but if Tesco aren't busy there have been a few occasions when the stuff was available for collection the day after ordering.  I don't use if for appointments but it is there if  I want to.  alas, as mentioned previously,   I think it all comes back to how good your GP surgery is and ours has been pretty good in recent months although it is now getting busy again as the time wasters(??) are starting to creep back out of hiding - full house for blood tests next week.

We have used the eat out scheme too.  However, while talking as we ate, we decided  that we didn’t really need the scheme and so donated what we saved to a food bank, hopefully benefiting those who aren’t even in a position to use the eat out scheme.  A win, win situation we felt.   We weren’t trying to be pious or superior, just thought it the right thing to do.

Evening all.

Like Mike (Stationmaster) our online GP apps and pharmacy seem to work well. All the local pharmacies seem to be available too. The GP surgery doesn’t do blood tests or x rays but they get the results next day from the local clinics (you can choose which one) . My heart clinic appointments appear on the apps too. My gastro treatment is from another NHS trust but both don’t seem to have any problem treating my conditions and being aware of the other ones.

I am due into the cardiac unit next week. Usually the procedure is day stay but I have already been told I really do need to bring an overnight bag and I should not expect to go out earlier than the following afternoon.

So in the midst of all this madness, I've worked out a time saving method in life.

 

I only wear black socks. It's been a habit to turn the tops together when putting them in the wash backer, then again when putting them away.

 

Why?

 

So I stopped doing it and just shove them in any old how. When getting some to wear, just grab any old two and I'm away.

 

Why I didn't think of this years ago, I'll never know!

the nHS is not coordinated Nationally and if, like me it is poorly set up in your area it is no longer fit for purpose. My surgery will not accept calls unless it is very urgent (ie the Marie Celeste ) and it took 6 weeks to contact me about my diabetic tests.

I had a phone call from the Leeds General Infirmary about something seen during an MRI scan.. nothing was written down so --"you must be ok".. from the Cardiac Unit clerical team... - the phone call was from the Cardiac admissions .. not mentioned on their list of important people

I have had similar problems getting my diabetes diagnosis from the drs. And then having to wait to start treatment (metformin tablets). Having worked in the public sector myself it's always a case of too many chiefs and not enough native Americans.
