Whacking plaster off the walls is pretty much completed - today saw the plaster around the kitchen door frame (on the front room - sorry, lounge side) of the wall removed. There's a few cracks that need correcting so it makes sense to sort both sides at once. Only Bear should've moved everything under the sun upstairs, but didn't . RMweb Premium J. S. Bach Posted August 29, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 29, 2020 A few days ago, I threatened said that I would mow the lawn; well due to a severe (almost terminal) attack of the lazies, that did not happen! Today was a different story, I did harvest the hay mow the lawn but it was so tall/heavy that I stalled out the mower several times; that takes a little doing with a 26hp Kawasaki prime mover! Note that I always wear , a mask for the dust, and a face shield to keep things out of my eyes. Should probably wear the same outfit when I go to Walmart! 8 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted August 29, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted August 29, 2020 Well there went a day and a half - thanks to Andy forgetting things back, presumably they use the same providers that the isle of Man Telecom do as we had an almost total island-wide interweb blackout this week. (Shh - Nokia). My thoughts stray to Rick, a difficult situation and my fervent wishes that matters resolve well, and to Dave's health - good news there at least. Boring here really, a day spent painting the outside of the garage and house window lintels today, a lot of masonry paint spread about. The house it white spar dashed so needs no effort but the built-later garage has to 'approximately match' in planning, so is painted render as white spar was soooo expensive. Thus every five years or so needs painting, a tiresome task. Tomorrow we're gardening the 'public open space' in the circle we live in, as the commissioners (council) will only pay to mow the grass, and the flaxes and shrubs get a bit wild, so a few neighbours have a field day on them occasionally. Planners again - we have to have these shrubbery things, but no-one will then take responsibility to maintain them. I also made some coal loads for,er, those 16 tonner things. 21
RMweb Premium Popular Post AndyB Posted August 29, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted August 29, 2020 Good to hear from Dave, although it sounds like whatever he had will have been a World Record score in Scrabble. Dave can you let us know if Tom, Dick or Harry is heading down the Belle Vue Road as the sight of you popping up at dawn in the MiL's conservatory might finish her off. About half way along on the RHS would do it...you'd need a decent jemmy....let me know if you need me to bake one into a cake. Meanwhile, it may be best if you give back the white coat and stethoscope before they twig that you're a patient! Cheers. Andy 19
tigerburnie
I don't recall ever seeing a double headed train on the old Great Central, not even when it was deviously passed over to the Midland region with their wheezy locos(though I do recall when one of Staniers Pacifics turned up on a special they had a V2 on standby in case it failed)................................... Quiet day today, socially distanced visit in the garden from friends from Montrose and a fair bit of the "G" word took place as it was not precipitating it down for a change. 11 1

And whilst I don’t live on the forum, I do dip into it now and again during the day (a bit like dipping into a choice box of assorted handmade pralines and without the risk of coming across items that have already been “hippo tested“), so its absence was very notable. Not only RMW but the Hornby forum was , and still is, off! So I checked out FB as I never had before. Hornby and RMW will be enough for me, as there is a life after all! Erichill16
Evening, hope things are a bit less stained at Ricks today and hope that things can been seen through a clearer window. Glad to see a posting fromDave. I suppose in these times if you have to go to hospital you may as well go in with a few ailments and get it over with in one fowle swoop. Sorry if I’ve missed anyone’s miseries out but not read every posting. Sympathies to ChrisF and Flávio with their respective travel arrangements. I too was planning to visit Switzerland in October but due to the current circumstances hadn’t done anything yet. Last October it’s was a special birthday for SWMBO but through (my) inaction we didn’t go anywhere and she wasn’t a happy bunny. This year I was going to make up for it with a trip to Switzerland but I’m not sure what to do now. I originally looked at travelling by train but I think the cost is prohibitive but the number of flights from Manchester to Zurich and Geneva has been reduced dramatically. I think we need to do something as we’re both needing a break. Channel Island? Neither of us have ever been. Sorry for going on so Goodnight Everyone.
