RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted August 27, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 27, 2020 Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Been persisting down here since about three o'clock. Arthur Itis keeps telling me there's more to come. So does the weather forecast, wet, windy and cold, typical late summer bank holiday weather, now its just started hailing. Time for dinner, be back later.
pH
How much do 'workplace' law and 'workplace' regulations apply to home offices? Do employers have any right to enter homes where work is being done by their employees, possibly using the employers' physical resources? What (if anything) can home workers claim as expenses from employers? Etc ... Our union asked those kind of questions when people were being allowed/encouraged to work from home during a transport strike here. There were never any answers given, as far as I know. To me, there are similarities with self-serve checkouts. The company saves costs, which do not appear to be passed on to those doing the saving. I admit I may be biased. We had to provide 24 hour support to computer systems, initially by driving in to work if it could not be handled over the phone, but later by direct access from home. Continual arguments with management over interpretation of the union agreement, loss of allowances, second-guessing of how 2 a.m. calls should be/should have been handled etc. did not make for happy staff. 4

RMweb Gold Popular Post Happy Hippo Posted August 27, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted August 27, 2020 A quick update: I got an email from Dave about 15 minutes ago. The good news is that he is now safely tucked up in the hospital in Shrewsbury. the medics seem happy with his brain, so they are now delving lower down and and they have him coupled up to a drip and are feeding him lots of antibiotics to clear up the infection. He's also on a liquid diet, which , unfortunately for him does not contain any malt whisky. Apparently it's not available on the NHS system! Dave says he's feeling much better than before, and if the improvement continues overnight he will try and drop into RMWeb sometime tomorrow to have a nose around. He'll probably ring me tomorrow morning with a further update, which I will relay. I've passed on all your good wishes and he thanks you all, and is quite humbled by the level of concern shown. 2 1 7 2

Sorry to hear of the complete change of mood as it all seemed so positive just a few days ago when you were able to go out together following various scenic routes in the hire car. I regret I have no experience of these problems and have no idea what to suggest except to say that I hope you both manage to get through this together. Popular Post Erichill16
Evening All, Not managed to read all the posts but do know that Gwiwer is really in a hard place and hope tomorrow things look a bit brighter as surely they must. Autumn is just around the corner and still the virus is dominating and destroying our lives. On a happier note seems Dave is bit better, a bit of good news. RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted August 27, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 27, 2020 Good evening everyone It’s been dull and grey for most of the day, it just after tea time it started to rain and it’s still at it now. It’s not heavy rain, but it’s constant and has been at it now for well over 5 hours. Another busy day spent in the bathroom, today it was using a roller and a paint brush, but the walls and ceiling have had 2 coats of emulsion and the room looks a lot brighter now. Sheila is absolutely delighted with the new colour, so a few brownie points earned there I think. The next task is to refit the window blind, shower rail and some pictures. There is also the small matter of stripping the wax off the bathroom cabinet and then paining it white and a small shelf also needs a new coat of white paint applying, but that will be done over the weekend. Its good to read that Dave is making some improvements, fingers crossed that his problems can be sorted sooner rather than later. I’m also sorry to read about the problems that Rick and Simon are having, my thoughts are with you both. Goodnight all Brian 16

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted August 27, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 27, 2020 Evening all from Estuary-Land. Great to hear that Dave's improving and hopefully he can go home soon. Rick, I hope things sort themselves out soon. My news is not entirely unexpected but our show scheduled for the 31st. October has been officially cancelled. I was going to make a few suggestions to the exhibition manager but the problem most exhibitions face is getting a big enough footfall to make it viable bearing in mind that the number of people you can allow into the exhibition at one time is very restricted under social distancing, 40% compared to normal at most. 1 1

We have been lucky and not really touched by covid and as bad as it may seem now, think how it would be without a partner at this late stage in life. So its best to work at it as the older you get, the more you need each other. Believe me! Brian. 14 1 1

Popular Post Winslow Boy
I have come to the conclusion that by working in conjunction the ERs should be able to devise a plan where cake and whisky could be smuggled onto Mr Hunt's ward. Utilising HH connections it should be possible to hypnotise the medical staff into believing they were required as part of his treatment. The escape route being provided by The Q and his local knowledge of nearby RAF stations to enable extraction by helicopter. Medical knowledge would of course be provided by our own resident doctor, iL Dottore who of course would be safe in the neutral haven of Switzerland. I therefore propose this and await the fervent support of other ER's with the supply of said victuals prior to the plans activation. Yours in anticipation R F Bigglesworth, KPMG, KFC, Big Mac 6
