RMweb Gold Popular Post tetsudofan Posted July 20, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 20, 2020 Had a phone call this afternoon from the Kent & Canterbury Hospital at Canterbury advising that my cystoscopy biopsy and diathermy under general anaesthesia will be performed on Tuesday August 11th. Bearing in mind that the problem only appeared on Saturday June 13th and since then I've been through the Out-of-Hours Doctor (in person), my GP Surgery (on the phone), urine and blood tests, CT scan, flexible cystoscopy and pre-op assessment I think I'm a lucky bunny to get it all done so quickly in these difficult times. Could have had the procedure a week earlier but there was a reason for the delay. As it stands at the moment I'll start self-isolating after this coming weekend during which time I'll be called to go somewhere for a Covid-19 swab. If I don't get that done I don't get into the hospital. As I live by myself I can't get a friend to take me to the hospital so they have given me the phone number of the patient transport guys to book transportation - have to check-in by 7:30am. In addition, as I live by myself and the procedure involves anaesthesia, I have to spend the first night after the procedure in hospital but my friend can collect me the following day. Last time this happened it was winter and it was snowing. Little different this time. Keith

tigerburnie
Evening all, finally found the box of round tooits, first was the wonky gate post on the front gate, the path rises a bit, so the bottom of the gate always rubbed and moved the post about(wooden one). Old one removed, bottom a bit rotten, so replaced and zero to an inch and a half sawn off the bottom of the gate, now not only not wonky, but not rubbing either. Liberal application of wood treatment applied. With brush in hand and some stuff left in the tin(well it's a plastic tin.........if you get my drift), so the corner shed that now houses bicycles has had a good coating too. I think once the rain goes away and the last bits of the shed are painted the tooits can go back in their box for a bit....................

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted July 20, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 20, 2020 Evening all from Estuary-Land. Just called my sister for a little chat. My brother turned 73 in March and due to his health problems he had to have a medical including a scan before his driving licence was renewed. The scan revealed that he'd had a mini-stroke so his driving licence will not be renewed. He hasn't driven for more than a year now anyway so it won't make a great deal of difference. My leg problems seem to have subsided though the affected areas are still a bit tender. The G word calls tomorrow, I will be getting the shredder out tomorrow to make a bit of mulch out of the prunings and trimmings. Tea has brewed, be back later.
RMweb Premium J. S. Bach Posted July 20, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 20, 2020 I am really not sure where to post this: R. I. P. Ted Klein. I just received the word the Ted Klein owner(?) of M. B. Klein in Baltimore, MD (modeltrainstuff.com) just passed away last night. I remember when I first knew of him when he worked in his father's hardware store (M. B. Klein & Son) and offered members of the Baltimore Society of Model Engineers a 10% discount; that was a lot to a young teenager! Sol Levinson Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements, hopefully they will put them on their website. 1
RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted July 20, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) The chassis in the earlier photo now has a body. No interior (driver, steering wheel ) yet. 50 years ago when I was in a slot car racing club big American saloons were popular as you could get wide chassis and big motors in. I never had a Galaxie which was the popular car to model. I had a Mercury Cougar painted bright yellow. This one is gloss white. Popular Post brianusa
Hot and sunny here in GH. A/C is on so did a little work in the train room. Across the street the roofers are working on a house; wouldn't have their job in this kind of weather. Come to think of it, I wouldn't like their job anyway! RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted July 20, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 20, 2020 I too had a phone call from a hospital today. They want me to have a test which involves exercising while connected to a respiration measuring device next Monday. . Usually a treadmill but Southend have a recumbent exercise bike. I had to use that when they injected me with radioactive chemicals a few months ago. I have to have a COVID test before being allowed to have this procedure. I am supposed to be contacted for that before Friday. 2
Sir TophamHatt
Oof, what a day! Washed the "car blankets" - we keep spares in our cars in case of bad weather. Went out to the garden centre and bought compost ready to transfer some strawberries to bigger pots. Also bought some seeds - 50% off. Then went to IKEA and came home with a rug. Ours is really shaggy but it's become more hassle than it's worth. £35 later and now we have a nice and pleasant, smaller rug. Theh don't even sell our old one anymore. Quick mow of the lawn, watched Toy Story 2 and then was preparing for bed. The little one took about an hour to settle this evening so I did some preparation work for the final saga of adding signals to my layout. Figured one signal would be pointing away from view so no real point in having it. I can put it anywhere though as it's independent from the rest. Tomorrow is cats to the vets day, testing signals and transferring the strawberries. Bet I won't get to do the latter! Night all.

Popular Post Florence Locomotive Works
Late afternoon all, Quite a bit of muddeling was done today, but enough of that. My next door neighbor is getting ready to sell, as the rather, err, free-with-the-firearms, and slightly psychotic (no really, he was) husband died a few months back. So the wife went and hired some people to strip all the ivy and whatnot off the fence. It gives a whole new perspective on the yard. I can't say i'm sad to see them go, their son used to smuggle alcohol through our yard in the middle of the night, waking up the dog (the son was 16 at the time). Eventually the police got him. They also owned a Saint Bernard who repeatedly, err, "jumped the fence' to attack my mother, and people in the street. I can now see the semi abandoned other house, which is waiting for its house-flipping owner to get around to it, since there isn't any ivy in the way. Alright, moan about the neighbor finished. House flipping became very very profitable in Tulsa in about 2012, but its slowly slid into decline. They would normally by 1970s houses on the cheap, fix them up and modernize them to a fair extent, and then sell these for some whopping great profits, most of the time. The coyotes have returned, and promptly killed someones cat up the street, so the dog is on high alert. @jamie92208 may want to know that the Cumberland sausages were excellent, and went very well with a fried egg and toast. I need to cook them longer next time, as they were a bit pink so were thrown back in the pan for a second round. stay healthy, Douglas The fence below was covered in green yesterday. RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted July 20, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 20, 2020 Good evening everyone By the time I’d sat down for breakfast, the site was off line, pah! Anyway, today I decided to sort out the south facing wall of the workshop, as the paint was peeling off and I’d already made a start on some areas that needed a bit of filler, only to have been halted by the bad weather. A few hours with the sander sorted out the paint and I then applied some paint, I’d just got enough to give it 2 coats, one before dinner and a second after dinner. To be honest, the whole workshop needs repainting really, but there seems to be a shortage of paint (well the colours I’m interested in anyway) at the moment, so hopefully this at least should see it through until next year when I’ll do a full paint job on it. Keith and Tony, I hope your procedures go well. Goodnight all 17
RMweb Premium Popular Post southern42 Posted July 20, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) ' evening all from red dragon land. Bike ride and the G word today. Chopped up some more bamboo I cut down a couple of days ago. I reckon I will need a whole lot more than the three ex-cement bags full I have at the moment to cover the patch that will be rid of monbretia/crocosmia after flowering. Also more weeding - gee, they grow big quick! A veritable jungle in places. Fitt and Elfie perking up again with the sunshine. Keith and Tony, all the best and hope it goes well. Take care and play safe. _________ Best wishes Polly Edited July 20, 2020 by southern42 16 2
RMweb Gold Popular Post The Stationmaster Posted July 20, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 20, 2020 Evening all, Diverter kit for the drainpipe duly, and quickly, found where I thought it was - I should obviously not have listened to the Good Doctor's advice about where she thought it was because I had looked there first and of course it wasn't there. a few brambles trimmed back in the garden just because they got in my way. Porch guttering needs attention before I re-site the water butt and add the diverter to the down pipe but the clip on a joint is not being helpful - a further battle is planned. Smog for dinner tonight accompanied by homegrown carrots and the 'og' part saw the first use of a couple of this year's crop of onions. Hope all goes well hospital for Keith and Tony 21
