Erichill16
Evening All, Back again but wanted to get a happy birthday to Baz in before he retired for the day. Sunny here but not been as hot as it looked but that was fine as we had Syd for a couple of hours. Watched my football team win in the third minute of injury time. that means we won’t get relegated until the final day of the season, which is some conciliation bearing in mind the position we were in when the season restarted. I think that’s about it for today so Goodnight. 14

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted July 19, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 19, 2020 Good evening everyone A beautiful sunny day here in the northwest of England, but it must have been cold overnight as once again the heating came on this morning. I even managed to sit out on the bench this morning whilst I drank muggertea No2 As now seems to be the norm for a Sunday morning, we overslept this morning and as a consequence we had a late breakfast. So once I’d finished, I went straight out to the workshop and continued working on the circuit I tested yesterday. I built a first prototype and tested it, thankfully it worked first time! Buoyed by the success, I started to cut some more veroboard to size and make the necessary cuts in the tracks for the 20 needed for this project. By the time I packed up for the day I’d got all the circuit boards ready and a second built and tested. After tea I set about designing a separate board that will be used for a 3 way point, it’s still a work in progress, but I’ll get there. Nice to see Deb’s popping in. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to log in before the site closes down tomorrow for maintenance. Goodnight all 14
Florence Locomotive Works
Evening all, a broad gauge engine arrived in the mail yesterday, so I've been very occupied with that. The sausages I ordered have been excellent, tomorrow I'm trying the Cumberland variety. A what I am now reliably informed is a Devon Pasty, was had for dinner tonight. Other than that I have little to write about at the moment. The tube amp is well on the way to being "broken in", and sounds much better now. Dad had Guy Clarke's "Dublin Blues" on loop for most of the day, it sounded very very good, though not what I would have chosen. Oh and happy birthday to Baz. stay healthy, Douglas Edited July 20, 2020 by Florence Locomotive Works 13

RMweb Premium TheQ Posted July 20, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) Mooring Awl, inner Temple Hare, A very poor nights sleep, pain from my back, not as would be usual from my spine, but from the muscles, the bruise from reversing into the sanitiser, plus strains from block lifting. This morning my arms are joining in with pain from from sanding. Oh joy they have just shown on TV a way of calculating your "covid age" , age being the major factor in whether it will get you.... You add or subtract from your real age, with ethnic groups, male / female underlying issues etc, 62 year old me comes out at 75... Of course at one time the English border or to be more precise the kingdom of Northumbria had as its border the Firth of Forth., much of the rest of Scotland was Welsh speaking ( an old variety of) , accidents of history could have meant a very different UK.. Someone orange is now demonstrating a lack of knowledge of arithmetic, let alone anything else. Our weather is dry, and should be for the week... The grass will grow... Fast.. It's time I think to move, somewhat slowly to the kitchen, porridge calls.. Edited July 20, 2020 by TheQ 1
Popular Post chrisf
Greetings one and all I'm better than I was but there are still plenty of aches and pains to endure. For once I made a point of listening to Desert Island Discs. The castaway was Annie Nightingale, who I met at a gig in Bedford yonks ago. I used to enjoy her Sunday afternoon request show on Radio 1 and won her Daisy Chain competition twice. I am not sure whether I have met any other castaways. Not a lot else got done yesterday. Sunday lunch was the ultimate in flexibility, a casserole. I watched Diamonds Are Forever without being terribly interested in it, followed by a ridiculously early night. Today I have to go out, to collect my prescription, but do not expect to do much else. Best wishes to all Chris

RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted July 20, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) Morning all it's sunny here. Baz, glad that you enjoyed your birthday and the news of the arrival of someone who will share it. Chrisf, I hope that the lurgi goesxaway. Phil and Rick, I hope forvimprovements in your walking gear. The market was enjoyed yesterday then not a great deal was done. I scanned some more photos and found some lovely ones of the kids. My railway photos seem to be being enjoyed by readers. Scanning and the subsequent discoveries have been a real bonus for me over the past few months. I'm using all sorts of information to accurately date them. I only have a film and negative number along with the year. So far I've used, birthdays, Christmases and other known life events but have also now used railtour websites and which anorak the kids were wearing. There are a few loose negative strips that I scan into an odds and sods file and many of these are now being properly identified. Anyway today needs to be seized at some point. The first task is to retrieve an errant tile from the top roof, then return the long ladders that I've borrowed. After that it's time to collect another trailer full of firewood which will have to be stacked when I get it home. This afternoon it is supposed to be rather warm so not much else will be done. Regards to all. Jamie Edited July 20, 2020 by jamie92208 15 2

Popular Post iL Dottore
We're Back. Well done to AndyY and the team for making this transition fast and effective. I had expected the site to be down for 24 hours, at least, so VERY pleasantly surprised to come back to the PC and find that the outage was but a few hours. RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted July 20, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 20, 2020 Also back here. A warm and largely sunny afternoon has arrived Upon the Hill of Strawberries. The G-word has been performed resulting in significantly fewer weeds still growing and the excision of some unauthorised clematis. This effort was followed by a celebratory muggercoffy. There will also be a celebration of beer o'clock in due course. It seems to be change-your-partners week here. Over the weekend New Neighbours (Top Flat) first appeared and we now have one in semi-permanent residence whilst the other two return in September. Neighbours (Upstairs) have been shuffling around with one due to depart and a new arrival to take her place next month and one staying on swapping rooms from the shoe-box to the en-suite palace. Other new arrivals have been sighted moving in today farther down the block. In other news the Formerly Pregnant Neighbours (Upstairs) who recently moved out have just produced a baby daughter. It is time to look around at other corners of this establishment. You never know when something of interest might turn up 18 1
RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted July 20, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 20, 2020 Afternoon all. Nice day here, sunny with gentle breeze. There has been some serious cleaning here this morning, furniture moved and special brushes for radiators deployed. We are not expecting visitors, though possibly MiL reporting carpet moths at her residence may have prompted this activity. I suspect that our resident spiders keep down any naughty insects. I am watching the test match, at one point some good views of tram roofs were broadcast. Tony

RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted July 20, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 20, 2020 Afternoon, First chance I've had to visit today in the absence of red flags erected and dets on the line but all appears to have been handed back in working order at linespeed - a lesson there for NR perhaps? Time earlier was not wasted - Root One was visited looking for a water butt but the one herself decided was best was, once I got it into the car obviously far too big to fit the site so back it went to the display area and we decided to repurpose one we have here. i am now being chased to get on with the repurposing so won't stop on here for long. W Although we didn't test it ythe catering dept at Root One appears to be back in soem form of operation but I don't know to what extent. talking of which our restaurant takeaway last night worked quite well and was still warm enough to eat once we got it home. The restaurant is also now taking customers to eat in but from what Mrs Stationmaster said about how the tables were arranged its idea of social distancing is on a very different scale from mine. Its layout is cramped at the best of times but I am left with the string impression that they seem to think 1 metre really means 1 foot and even that is flexible for serving staff - down to a couple of inches as they squeeze past diners. They will of course not be getting any dine-in custom from me if those are their ideas of what constitutes social distancing but the occasional takeaway will probably be safe(ish). The lad has landed in Corsica and judging by the views of the surroundings he has put on Farcebook he seem to have chosen himself a very suitable hotel. It seems from his experience that SNCF's reservation system also has some very peculiar ideas about social distancing such as leaving two complete strangers sitting opposite each other in a 2 seater table bay while leaving the adjacent coach completely empty! Which suggest to me that SNCF's peculiar reservation system has not been amended to take account of post Covid travel. Right off to find an outdoor down pipe fitting which i think I've got 'somewhere' in the garage. Enjoy the rest of your day. 13
Popular Post Ian Abel
Moaning all! After struggling for more than a week after I got my cortisone shot, it appears to finally be providing the much needed help. Yesterday was the first significant improvement day and today I actually was able to get up and start work. I was able to sit at the PC over the weekend briefly, but it seems/feels now like I'm back in business albeit still with some small aggravation in the hip. Taking a 5 minute break every hour or so seems to help and lets it recover enough to allow me to be mobile enough to shuffle back and forth between the bedroom/office/kitchen, so that's improvement! Nothing earth shattering has happened the past few weeks but a lot more than needs me driveling on about to bore you with! One significant item worth noting, Trevor and Meagan closed on their house and moved in last weekend, they're quite enjoying having their first home. After waiting for the insurance company and some repair work to the drain system, we FINALLY today will have our contractor over to review the plan for getting the basement bathroom/bedroom/family room restored - will REALLY be good to get that started finally. Weather has been beastly here past week, but today we're seeing the first of a few of 25-27 degree days before it soars back into the low 30's next weekend. Hope everyone is well - tally ho. 15
