RMweb Premium Barry O Posted July 13, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 13, 2020 Ey up! What a morning! Went to woodyard to be met by a man wheeling out a pile of 2" by !" (nominal) planed wood.. yep he had bought all their stock! Guy at the counter said he had done that twice in the last two weeks and is no longer regarded as a "trade" customer - they found out he has a little shop selling hardware - he told them he was a "house improver". Got the wood at Homebase (which said it had none!) after trying another wood yard who also had no 2" by 1"... Off to Barber "no appointments necessary" well mine is for next Monday. Our Pharmacy can order repeat prescriptions. I ring them up (but I could also email them apparently) takes about 3 or 4 days. I can also order them direct from the surgery by email or phone call. Time to get on with the rest of Monday... Baz 17

Sir TophamHatt
First day of actually going into the office of new job tomorrow. A very early start but had a good day at the SeaLife centre today. Last little bit of model railway spending this week as I must start saving for potential new car in August. Problem is used car prices are fairly high at the moment but current car has it's MOT in September. I'd rather not spend £200/£300 on it if I'm looking to get rid soon. But it is a complete workhorse - 154,000 miles, petrol, still going strong. Always said the engine will outlive the car. 16

No, that's apparently not the right explanation. At 11.35AM, it's now shown as having gone back to a previous mail centre, and having been received there at 4.53PM. I'm confused! (Edit. RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted July 13, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 13, 2020 Evening all, A quieter day at the House of Fun than we have come to expect. There were probably more people travelling after 9am than in the "busy" hour of 7-8am. Many apparently taking the children somewhere and a significant number of quite large groups (of up to 50 - which I thought was a little excessive given current guidelines) all bound for Thorpe Park. Several of us felt there was rain coming with our creaking joints acting up and sure enough it has just arrived as I speak. Overnight we are expected to receive a significant amount but hopefully all will be dry by my departure in the morning. We shall see. But first sleep. Stay well. 6

RMweb Gold Popular Post roundhouse Posted July 13, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 13, 2020 Evening Yesterday we wore face coverings for the first time on an empty bus from Exminster back to Exeter. It was far from comfortable so we will take some time getting used to wearing them. If shops become mandatory (as of a few minutes ago sound like it will be) then we will not be going shopping apart from food. Its not pleasant as it is. Amazon or Ebay will become our main source. A good few days walking in great weather but today was not so good sitting outside bars in Bristol with rain, far less beer choice in what used to be great beer places and £6.00 a pint. I don't see us being out travelling so much especially when we have better beers a walking distance from home. Also today we also had our first temperature check to enter a bar that had outside seating only. yet the next door bar we sat inside and no temperature check. The providing of personal info is also widely different on entering bars / pubs, but luckily very few ask for your address. Normally its just your name and tel number. 2
Popular Post Florence Locomotive Works
Afternoon all, Currently muggartea being had with some of those Mcvitie's things. These surprisingly are sold at some Walmarts. They are a bit like the whole English Cadbury's vs. American Cadbury's thing, personally find the ones on Amazon (most of which are imported) are better. The mail sadly did not contain any broad gauge engines today. According to the UPS Expedited shipping, the package has been given to the people at USPS. Well actually that happened two days ago. And from my calculations, it would only take about 5 hours to get a Parental Unit to drive me too the facility and back again, as said facility is just over the border in Texas. Oh well, it should be here tomorrow. In other more important news, I've switched High Schools (or secondary school for most of you, I think, ages 14-18). Well I actually hadn't started yet at the one I was going to, but now I am going to a different one, for various reasons. The "new" school is actually about 0.1 of a kilometre down the road from my old school, so I know it well. Both my future and past schools were built and founded in 1926, so are relatively similar. Said future one has a large brick turret, the interior of which looks very similar to that of Josiah Wedgwood's early bottle kilns, something that impressed me greatly on my "shadow" day. My old school had nothing like this, as the part I was in was built in the 40s. Well stay healthy, Douglas Edited July 13, 2020 by Florence Locomotive Works 20

I will have to get the mojo out and in use for the rest of the week, appointment for SWMBO at the hospital and it seems I have to have a warty looking thing removed off my mush and sent for testing just in case, boy we know how to live up here these days. Planning some more fishing this week so I'm watching the river levels, rain forecasts and tide tables and here's you lot thought it was just chucking a bait in the water eh?
