Bill Indeed it could and it could equally be a "workplace cluster" picked up with more intensive testing. That is one reason behind the intention to lock down specific locations because it isolates the cluster without affecting the recovery of the overall region and population. If these figures relate to the chicken-processing plant featured in the news then I believe that has already been closed for 14 days with staff required to self-isolate. There will probably be other local spikes. There might yet be spikes related to the massed gatherings on beaches which occurred last month and again early this month; there might be spikes among those attending the many protest rallies. But the overall picture is looking much better with the virus seemingly in retreat and both the infection and mortality rates dropping. The number of infections known has levelled out for now but that is probably a factor of a more rigorous testing regime and a little contact-tracing now in place. What is encouraging is that with those regimes, so more people than ever being checked, the rate hasn't gone back up. We are probably seeing a truer picture of the numbers infected and the rate of spread is still reducing. Is it me or has the world gone silent on this R-number statistic of late? I understand that it may be of less import now that infection rates are lower and that it can actually rise when the numbers locally are extremely small giving a false sense of doom. 9 3
Popular Post Erichill16
Evening All, Quite a busy day here on ERs. Glad to see Andrew back here were its all happening (or not). Good to see Baz has managed a post today. Glad that Flávio has almost got a job in the bag. Chris 116, really sorry about the circumstances regarding your trip to hospital and hope it’s not too serious and quickly resolved. Happy anniversary to to Tony and Aditi. And me, no paperwork done but a 3 hour meeting with my accountant is classed as ‘work’ so that was the morning sorted.Pm SWMBO and I went to do shopping for Mil then picked Bils dog up and took him for a walk. He’s stopping at our house for a sleepover. The air brushing I did yesterday wasn’t up to scratch so I’ve rubbed it down and done another coat. It’s better then the first one but not brilliant and due to the laws of diminishing returns I’m going to have to live with it. I think that’s it so will bid you all goodnight, Robert 18

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted June 18, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 18, 2020 Good evening everyone Happy anniversary Tony and Aditi. Chris, glad to read your back home again. Baz, glad to read of your improvement too. Pete. Welcome back, it’s always nice to have old friends back among us. The rain has been relentless, it’s rained all day, only stopping late in the evening. So far, touch wood, we’ve not had anymore water getting into the house in places where it shouldn’t getting in. However, I’ve decided to move the gutters down-pipe to the other end of the outrigger and there are a couple of reasons for this. About 25 years ago, we had settlement on the outrigger, luckily were covered for subsidence and our insurance company ended up paying out to the the outrigger under pinned and all the floors upstanding downstairs were levelled. But the outrigger still slopes away from the main house by about 3 inches, meaning that the guttering level is all wrong. So I’ve decided to take advantage of the now, natural slope and move the down-pipe from the inner corner of the outrigger instead to the far corner, so that it empties into the same drain as the kitchen sink. As a bonus it will mean less water entering the drain beside the cellar door, which will hopefully alleviate the possibility of future flooding. Best of all, as the drop will be less than the current drop, I’ll be able to reuse what’s already up, so it won’t cost anything, other than the time to do it. In other news, I’ve managed to move the computer, printer, HiFi amp and tape deck. Each item was cleaned off, the covers removed and the insides vacuumed out. The covers were then replaced and the item taken into the office. The turntable is still in storage and will retrieved when the replacement 12VDC power supply arrives. Everything was then connected up and switched on to see if it was still working. So far all is well, but I now need to get a longer lead to connect the amp to the computer, I’ll then be able once again to start converting some of my old vinyl LPs and cassette tapes to CDs. After dinner I did a little more tidying up and then assembled one of the control panels that were delivered here yesterday. There are made from laser cut MDF to my own design and size, but the construction method is the company’s usual style. It went together like a dream and will be used for the MPD part of my layout, so the controls I’ve been using with temporary connections can be installed permanently. RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted June 18, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 18, 2020 (edited) By one of those coincidences Aditi was telling me that Perry Mason was going to be on the television again but not Raymond Burr repeats but a new programme about his early cases. On Sky Atlantic, Thank you for all the anniversary greetings. We had a fairly quiet day. We had a pleasant dinner, duck, potatoes done in a sort of style we had in the Dordogne and assorted vegetables. Ice cream and rhubarb (picked today) crumble. Instead of watching a play streamed on YouTube we watched an episode of Young Montalbano recorded recently. I am glad Chris 116 was sent home with a good result. Last year I happily assumed my chest discomfort was indigestion and I was wrong. All the doctors have said they prefer to see people and rule out heart problems . I ended up at the GP eventually due to breathlessness not the chest pain on holiday. Tony Edited June 18, 2020 by Tony_S 12 1 1

Popular Post Florence Locomotive Works
Evening awl, The Oscillator finally arrived today. I took the cylinder cover and gland off, and thankfully it has newish gaskets. So all I have to do is replace the spring holding the cylinder to the port face, which I’ve already done, and fit a new flywheel. Said flywheel and a regulator valve are still somewhere between Tulsa and the Isle of Guernsey. The cylinder cladding could also do with a repaint, but it will suffice for now. Sometime this week I’ll update my thread on this on the Model Engineering Forum. It’s been very windy again today, but nothing like last time. Discovered another good song, this one about the scuttling if the German Fleet at Scapa Flow (Scapa Flow 1919 by Chris Drever). I actually read some of my book by D.K. Clarke, the section on marine engines of course. Unfortunately I still can’t quite make sense a steam expansion indicator diagram, but that’s not too terribly important. stay healthy and best wishes to Baz and Chris. RMweb Premium newbryford Posted June 18, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 18, 2020 Welcome back to Andy P. I await the next layout project. Another busy day at the workplace. The unusual (amusing and perplexing) calls and emails continue. But at least some of the backlog is becoming less backlogged. I will attempt a minor POETS tomorrow. Wish me luck.
