When I visited on business they had a lot of different vehicles including a Cent parked up (as well as a Tiger) Trip advisor link When they retired the Centurion (which was loved by lots of Armies) the local trained tankie bought them They had about a Regiments worth (not sure but Circa 50+ vehicles) which they drove around town on one Sunday a month. That is where I was given Panzer wein to drink...then a beer ..well it was Friday afternoon so only the full time instructors were on site. The tank range is over the top of the road tunnel. baz Thanks for that, I’ve visted the trip advisor site and they look to have some interesting vehicles. Unfortunately the link to the museums website doesn’t work but I’ll look into that next time I get the chance to go. The picture of the Hetzer reminds me that I read somewhere that most of the authentic German tanks in WW2 films were Hetzers as there was an abundance of them as the Swiss had them in service well after the wars end. RMweb Premium Popular Post Chris116 Posted June 8, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 8, 2020 I have had a good day today with a very quick visit to the hospital for my wife to have a blood test followed by an enjoyable evening meal of Pasta with mince, chopped tomatoes and sweetcorn. We then had some ice cream for our sweet. I am getting fed up with the adverts telling me not to use public transport. I know why they are being broadcast but I got rid of my car in 2004 due to the impossible parking situation in my area and have used public transport since then. The authorities push for people to stop using their cars but having followed that I now find that those with a car can go all over the country while I get bombarded with messages on our TfL bus routes about only using them if it is vital and BTP have been around my local National Rail station stopping people from travelling. All of a sudden you are only allowed to go out if you have a car. I even got told by one guy on the bus coming home from a shopping trip that I should be ordering it online and not using the bus. He very nearly got told what he could do with his opinions but thankfully I just ignored him and pretended I had not heard him.

The State of Oregon had a decreasing CoViD-19 diagnosis rate. However, for the last five days we have had an increasing rate of diagnoses, resulting in the highest recorded new cases yesterday. While these might be a function of wider testing availability, hopefully they will not presage higher hospitalization and fatality rates in the days to come. Most of yesterday's cases were from a coastal county and so are probably more related to changing behaviors in reopening the state, rather than protests. The protests continue (without distancing) every day. We've had about 10 days of consecutive protests. These are mostly peaceful until the 10:30pm - midnight period where the peaceful protesters have gone home and rowdy protesters begin to provoke the police with an inevitable result. Even though many protesters wear masks, which should help somewhat, the density of the crush is fairly high. I would not be surprised to see protest-related infections this week. 5

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted June 8, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 8, 2020 Evening all from Estuary-Land. I went to Tess Coe's this afternoon and I asked the bakery if they still did bread pudding. The answer was in the affirmative but they only do a batch when they have sufficient unsold loaves. This was normal practice before the lockdown and still carries on. So its still pot luck as to whether its available when you visit a store. 1 hour ago, Gwiwer said: All these pictures of tanks on the line have caused me to think about something green or black with six wheels which Goes When Ready I'll do me tin hat and wish you all a good night! Popular Post Simon G
Evening all, just back in again from the 10pm constitutional. Today I actually walked as far as the station, which is half a mile further than I have been for 3 months. Daring or what? Assorted bits of gardening done today including putting bird protection over some of the strawberries and mowing of lawn. Tonight I have been watching a video on YouTube of Steeleye Span at the Shrewsbury Folk festival in 2018. Only Maddy Prior left from the early lineup, but still an most entertaining hour or so. For anyone interested here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9eDa1dQ2mQ The next thing to watch, probably now tomorrow, is the film Quadrophenia, which I recorded last night. Rather a contrast to Steeleye Span, but The Who’s soundtrack is amazing. 21

They have had other ladies in the band throughout much of their existence so I should think of them as Maddy and the band but when I first saw them Maddy was the leader and the only lady and Maddy and the boys has just stuck in my mind for the last forty years or so.
RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted June 8, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 8, 2020 (edited) Good evening everyone When I got up this morning, before I got dressed, I looked out of the bedroom window to see if it had rained during the night. If it had rained, the plan to complete the Sainsbury’s Grand Prix. But as it hadn't rained, I decided to postpone the Grand Prix until after tea and crack on with the arbour roof instead, a job that I’ve been waiting to do since last Thursday! Today’s fine weather has meant that I finally managed to get on and finish the job and it all done before 11:30. Although I say so myself, I think it looks rather good, when you consider that it was made from an old shed, that other folks may have dumped! Once I’d finished, I cleared away all the rubbish and detritus, such as the off cuts of the tiles and then swept the patio. Here it is with the roofing tiles in place. I then turned my attention to the bench that will eventually sit inside the arbour and made a start on that. First the slats were removed then sanded down, there were a few small holes, so filler was applied and they were then sanded down again and are now ready for painting. By the time I’d done that, there wasn’t enough time left to start the frame, so that will be started tomorrow. RMweb Premium Popular Post newbryford Posted June 9, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 9, 2020 Late check-in for me. And a late HB to Flavio. Another trip to Gisburn Forest after work with trusty bike #3. A most enjoyable (just under) hour and half trail ride with my mate and his 10 year old son. The son is a remarkably talented rider for his age. Although he goes a bit slow through sections that need a bit more speed (IMO), his balance and control for such a young age is brilliant to watch. It wouldn't surprise me to see him be a star of the future - he has biking in the blood as his Dad is a semi-retired ex-Team GB bike mechanic that built bikes for gold medal winning performances at numerous Olympic, World and Commonwealth Championships. (He's great for bike fettling advice and loan of special tools!) My legs are coming back to fitness levels of 3 or so years ago - a few more PBs on Strava to add to my tally were ticked off. As well as a first attempt and "clean" on the three log balance beam. Back in the car park and ready to roll home. Shiny car, dusty bike. Have a safe and sane Tuesday folks. Cheers, Mick 26

Popular Post AndyID
The finagling of the Finnish mower is finished. Just a few minor adjustments required. I tried it this evening and it seems to perform as expected. The gent at the company I bought it from was very helpful and replaced the drive-shaft with one that's almost new. I gave him back the one that had been pretzeled. I got the impression he's going to have a "meaningful chat" with the minkey that sold it to him

Popular Post chrisf
Greetings one and all Laundry on a Monday? Swipe me, how traditional. Ironing on a Tuesday? How inevitable. Under house arrest there is little variation in the weekly routine. The fodder run has settled down to be on Wednesdays, with a relief on Saturday that enables me to pick up what I forgot and, if I give some thought to the matter, choose Sunday lunch not too far in advance. It takes away much of the impulsiveness which used to characterise my shopping. I yearn for the day when I can be more free-range, as I am sure we all do. Unlike Barry, whose system sounds admirable, I use a pocket diary to supplement the fragile forgettery and record my engagements. It was always a good idea to enter them in pencil but never more so than this god-awful year. Cancelled fixtures are struck out with a red line and the red ink took quite a pasting on that fateful – frightful, perhaps - day in March when nearly everything was cancelled. Even some of the postponed events have become cancellations. I have a few hundred quid invested in events which will now take place a year late and it is perhaps a surprise that I keep the receipts in a safe place. Let the organisers of these events use my money wisely. Mike Stationmaster’s news about the cafe at Root One is tragic. It was he who first told me about the fine breakfast served there. My regular visit was on Good Friday, when I would duly partake on my way to the quite nearby Pendon Museum. On Good Friday this year the museum was closed and we were all under lockdown. Maybe the cafe, and the breakfast, will return when we are allowed to eat out again but I’m not holding my breath. Where did I put my black armband? Best wishes to all Chris
