Bad day. Mountains - well the definition is 2,000 feet so ours is in.....by 36 feet! It has no trees anywhere near the top so must be ok then? We can also get a train to the top, and it's 17 years older than the Jungfraujoch one. Not quite as high though..... 1

I ordered 3 things yesterday on a free trial of prime, all were showing free delivery within 24 hours. Today, the last thing I ordered has just arrived, one of the others is now showing delivery between 29th May and 16th Jun. The other between the 8th and 10th Jun. Unusual that. I've been to the motorboat, used a gallon and a half of water topping up the 24 batteries. Washed down the solar panels, and the boat. No green slime to mop off the decks, it's been to dry, so easy to wash the decks off. From there to the boat yard, booked in for the BSS ( aka Boat MOT every 4 years) , a service of the generator , lift and anti foul . If I get change from £1000 I'll be lucky.. With restrictions just eased, lots of people have booked boats in, they'll pick up the boat mid July. As the first available time. The yard was all working socially distanced, most were face masks, gloves and one in the white suit, but that's normal for boat work, sanding fibreglass, anti fouling etc.. I supported the local cafe by buying a milky coffee, and a hot pie straight from the oven. They are lucky in having a serving hatch to the outside world anyway, normally used for coffee and ice creams. I always ask for a milky coffee, the confusion in some youngsters faces in the chain coffee shops when you do that, when the list on the wall uses all the fancy American / Italian terms is fun to watch.. SWMBO has found a different old sink to use, this one is a, half height side wall, Butler sink I dug out of the garden years ago. The concern that I do have is over her potential reaction to yet another Hugh Grant movie. Like any good Hollywood casting agent, Mrs ID has her “A List“, “B List“ and “C List“ celebrities. From previous comments she has made about Mr Grant’s acting abilities (or lack thereof), I suspect he would find himself firmly on her “Z List”. Nonetheless, I will heed your suggestion and ask if she would like me to purchase the DVD for watching when she gets snowed-in when staying at the Holiday Hovel (and which is most definitely surrounded by proper “Mountains“). 2 hours ago, Happy Hippo said: Having visited the country on more than one occasion, I can assure readers that in the Netherlands, a mountain is anything above sea level! Probably, and I’m purely speculating here, he is a wonderful little dog whilst the treats are coming, but cross him and you’re looking at chewed up hamstrings at the very least! But it’s good they’re much loved. All dogs deserve that. On a more serious note, and something I think is starting to get to the point where it’s more than just annoying, is this stupid censoring software put in place on RMWeb which censors totally innocent terminology and words – such as the name of Oscar’s breed. Having met AndyY on a number of occasions, I found him to have a very robust approach to language, so this “uptight schoolteacher“ censoring of terminology seems somewhat out of place. Could it be that sponsors and advertisers can’t deal with/don’t want to be associated with any sort of wordage that could, potentially, cause offence to someone, somewhere at some future, unforeseeable, time? Can you force a shut down? Modern computers don’t have a reset button but hold the power button down for 15 to 20 seconds. As you mention it is a laptop you could then remove the battery. Wait a while. Insert the battery Plug in , turn on. If it still hangs you may need the shop appointment still. Its a new battery in this computer but thats not the problem, its the cooling fan. Its always been noisy since I've had the computer and the warning was about the cooling fan liable to fail. I'm not sure if my old laptop has a fan. I am only using this computer in short bursts and switching it off if it starts getting warm. I will try to sort out my old computer first before messing with this one. 9

As for the “fancy American/Italian terms”, as a bona-fide, 100% authentic, Italian, I can safely say that most of those terms are made-up marketing b0ll0cks. Probably someone in the marketing department at S**rb***ks got hold of an English Italian dictionary and started throwing out words at random. As far as I am concerned coffees in Italy can be described by just the following: Espresso Cafe Macchiato Cuppaccino Ristretto Cafe Corretto (Espresso with a good slug of grappa) and sometimes you find (especially in areas heavily frequented by tourists) Cafe Americano (A heavily diluted, either by milk or hot water, espresso, served in a bigger cup). RMweb Premium Popular Post NGT6 1315 Posted May 29, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 29, 2020 A'noon, troops. Well, the suspected ordnance turned out to be only a derelict well and associated piping following further probing, so no evacuation will be needed and I consequently have the day off, as originally scheduled. Not that I mind! Weather's quite friendly here, too, so I presume a bit of outside tinkering will be continued later. Spent the morning with a physio session, followed by fixing an issue with a light switch and replacing a single power outlet with a double one. Aside from that, things remain mostly quiet out here. Not that I mind that either! Enjoy whatever you're up to… 25

Must have been mid 80's when I visited Fraggle Rock and my other half has only seen it from a plane. Must correct that when allowed to travel again. Just wired up the two new sidings connected to the turnouts that arrived from Fraggle Rock, one is long enough for a 4TC and class 33, the other long enough to take the APT-E. Paving slabs obtained this morning now laid. interesting in that the counter at the builders merchants has a big perspex screen and you have to stand 2M back from it so you end up shouting but have to go closer to make contactless payment. I set up my 12 year old huge laptop (its that big that it even has a subwoofer built in) that I obtained ex demo at half price at Fenchurch Street Pc World just before it closed. Its been upgraded to win 10 a few years back and still a good laptop but not very portable. It has just 2Gb of memory, so yesterday I ordered another 2GB. its due today and is an easy installation as there is a cover which just requires tow screws undoing to get to the memory bay. I forgot to check if it has 2 x 1GB or 1 x 2GB board so may have to order another 2GB but at £16 each it will be worth it as it was a superfast machine when and is still pretty quick. Just finished an online chat with Virgin, our broadband provider. I am going to try and get a massive reduction in the monthly amount or upgrade for just £3.50 to the top speed and if they cant do anything I will change over to another provider as the near £50 a month is way too much and about time I dealt with it as per most of the other bills that I have done so. However I don't have a password to chat with them as never had to before. SO they are sending me a letter with one. That talk will have to wait now till after i receive the letter. 18

Snaefell is definitely a mountain in my book, as I seem to recall a very fine 360 degree view when we went up it (on the mountain railway, I might add!). It is also the only mountain we can see from our house! My second obelisk of canes has been constructed to support runner beans, so next job is to plant the bean seeds. The first obelisk is now surrounded by a structure of old roof slates. The purpose of this is to protect the young runner bean plants from both wind and slugs. The slates were recently found behind the condemned shed, and I was going to dispose of them, but have found a use for them for the time being at least. Talk about hot! So I retreated to the kitchen for a mugadecafcoffee & ERs. Now, I have a question. There is, surrounded by smaller weeds, some of nextdoor's crop of self seeding jungle forming plants! Can anyone identify it for me, please? I did search it but failed to find out! I do not ever recall it growing in the vegetable garden when I was growing up. I did think maybe something like beetroot. Fitt and Elfie burning up... RMweb Premium Popular Post AndyB Posted May 29, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 29, 2020 Evening all. So firstly to the limbo-ing swmbo. I think she'd be fine with this and I'll order her some kind of tassled belly-dancing costume to put her in the mood. Meantime I've taken delivery of a branch line-appropriate coach which is about as clear an indication I can think of that the layout won't be turned into a full-blown roundy roundy. Coffee: like TheQ I favour the simplest format and when confronted with a menu I tend to offer a pained look and indicate that I don't really care provided it's about half a pint with milk. I leave it up to the barista to figure out what on their menu best aligns with that. NHN thoughts with you and your colleagues. 19

Popular Post Ian Abel
Sorry for the AWOL here, things in general overtaken time to get online... I'd like to say everything is "fine", but Minneapolis (I'm in a suburb 7 miles from downtown) has obviously made international headlines and it's one of the most disappointing and depressing situations and an ongoing flustercuck! Frankly it's one of the saddest times we've seen, even WITH COVID-19! We're hoping to get together with neighbors for a distancing happy-hour tonight, and with our travelling companions Sunday. They (travelling companions) have two grown kids living within blocks of the current disaster, and will likely end up camping out with them tonight given the desperate situation here! Weather has been off-and-on, right now 15 and cloudy. Congratulations and commiserations as necessary/needed, and I'll do my best to not be AWOL 1

We use the coffee beans Aditi likes, I am not really fussy, I rarely drink coffee now. The “Italian” blend Aditi uses in her cafetière is produced in Yorkshire but the beans for the coffee machine are an Italian roasted brand. We buy when on special offer if possible. We normally meet up every month or so in one of our local pubs but not so since Christmas. So made contact and he's Ok. Fingers crossed we can meet up soon. One thing that struck me is that if a group of six friend meet up and make friend with others nearby, do you have to defriend some to get back down to six?? 14
