RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted May 19, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 19, 2020 Evenin' A roller coaster day, but an apology from yesterday's Mr angry was appreciated, and another later in the day from someone who shot from the hip and later regretted it improved my mood. Perfection we cannot do, but we do try very hard. EL84's Andy! Now that brings back a memory, a Jason amp with 4 in a line, you could do toast on it, the 84's with a blue glow. ECC ?? pre-amp valves? I was only a teenager when I had this, memory fades. Blew it up....

They said it's probably battery level as I haven't been using the car but need to check it out. It's also due for an annual service so I booked it in for Thursday. I timed it just right phoning as up until now they've only been dealing with emergency breakdowns but are just about to email customers saying that normal servicing etc is being resumed Some garages here are picking up and returning cars for service. I recently availed myself of this deal which worked fine for me, closeted here at home! Brian. 16
RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted May 19, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 19, 2020 Belated birthday wishers to Sherry. I have had an interesting day. New drive band arrived. Fitted to scarifier. Scarified both lawns. Grass looks awful but getting rid of the moss will help. A bit of muddling undertaken..very successfully (I guess tomorrow may be a different matter. I then did some authouring for a Railway Magazine (not BRM) for a July issue. More on this later... Chicken roasted for tea.. with added salad and new potatoes. Very nice. While it did get warmer during the day the wind was still very chilly. TTFN Baz 22 1 1
Popular Post Erichill16
Evening One and All, Been to work to help out this morning (Another bank holiday looms) and then a walk in the direction of Mil to check she’s still managing with the crutches. By the time we got back it was 7pm so had a quick tea and have spent the rest of the evening laid on the garden furniture catching up with things RMWeb. Been a lot of posts today. It’s getting a bit cool now and SHMBO has fallen asleep so think it’s time we should be going in. Almost forgot, little package fromDJH arrived today so may finally get arse in gear and get some modelling done. Night, Robert

RMweb Premium Popular Post Chris116 Posted May 19, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 19, 2020 Well our evening meal of home made Hamburgers were enjoyed and approved of by SWMBO (I enjoyed them as well). I have drunk two pints of milk since then and am nearly ready for bed. Spent most of the evening listening to Lainey Wilson who I could listen to 28 hours a day! Still didn't do anything about the railway but there is always tomorrow. 21

RMweb Premium Popular Post Dave Hunt Posted May 19, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 19, 2020 Frustration rules in North Salopshire. After a few domestic chores this morning I was released from further duties and given permission to spend the afternoon modelling so off I went to do battle with my crane kit. For all the progress I made, though, I needn't have bothered. It was one of those days when even the simplest of procedures went wrong and needed redoing, every piercing saw blade broke, small components fell to the floor and disappeared without trace, bits carefully measured prior to cutting turned out to have shrunk by 1mm when it came to fitting, tools and materials had apparently left the premises since being used yesterday and so on. In the end there was only one thing for it - forget modelling and settle on a large G&T, a plate of comfort food (toad in the hole and beans followed by chocolate chip ice cream) and a bucket glass of a rather nice rioja to accompany a good book. Now for a muggacocoa and a lengthy eyelid inspection before returning to the fray tomorrow. Belated birthday wishes to Sherry; I hope your day has been a good one. Night night all. Popular Post tigerburnie
Evening all, so so sort of day, wet morning brightened up and 4 mile bike ride was taken to blow the cobwebs out. As the evening is warm, sort of less windy we went for a walk round the village and as it got dark, bingo...…………………..finally picked up a Bat on the detector I got for my birthday, 3 Soprano Pipistrelles buzzing round the park and over our back garden, which is handy as I have ordered a roosting box for them. RMweb Premium Popular Post newbryford Posted May 19, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 19, 2020 WFH today doing lots of emails/phone calls. Mrs NB arrived home and said "go and get some air" So I did! A little tail heavy, but better than a nose landing. Our local trail centre has re-opened. Quite a few cars and vans on the two car parks, but we (me and Junior NB) only saw about 4 other riders on the 15km or so of trails. Legs are feeling the effort now. Golf will be played after WFW tomorrow. Have a good third day of the week according to international standard ISO 8601. Cheers, Mick 24

All voting in Oregon is by mail. The deadline for posting ballots for Tuesday's elections has passed, though ballots can still be dropped off in official ballot boxes. Most ballots for Tuesday's elections are likely cast. The State Attorney General's office has appealed the ruling. It is unclear when this will go to the supreme court of Oregon. Ratification by the legislature might sound reasonable until you consider that the opposition in the State Senate (not from the Governor's party) has staged walk outs in the last two sessions to prevent the legally elected senate from having a quorum to vote on cap and trade measures intended to address the State's response to climate change. Didn't you grow up under the reign of Joh B-P? He'd have loved this kind of stuff! Personally, I like this bit from todays WP: Last week, Georgia’s Department of Public Health released a graph showing a dramatic, steady decline in cases, deaths and hospitalizations in the state’s five most affected counties, from a peak on April 28, just before the state’s restrictions were eased, to near zero two weeks later. But on closer inspection, the dates on the chart showed a curious ordering: April 30 was followed by May 4; May 5 was followed by May 2, which was followed by May 7 — which in turn was followed by April 26. The dates had been re-sorted to create the illusion of a decline. The five counties were likewise re-sorted on each day to enhance the illusion. RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted May 19, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 19, 2020 Good evening everyone Well the weather changed for the better today, by dinner time the sun was out and it was getting very warm. More progress has been made on the arbour and I only have 2 pieces of wood left to sand, these hadn’t been cut to fit until this afternoon and I decided to pack up once I’d cut them. As this has been made from a recycled shed, the wood I’ve used has lots of holes from the old nails, these holes were filled with filler before dinner and left to harden off. After dinner I sanded it all down, that’s when I noticed a few holes I’d missed, so a bit more filler was applied and I’ll sand that off tomorrow when I do the 2 remaining side pieces, it’s then just a case of waiting for the paint to arrive! Sherry, happy birthday Goodnight all 19

"Now don't you worry about that!" (Joh's response to any question from the press he didn't like.) I started writing an essay about how growing up with Sir Joh prepared me for living under Donald. There are many parallels with the Deep North of Australia in the 1970s and 1980s; unfettered commerce with no concern for the environment (or normal standards of ethics) and rampant gerrymandering being the order of the day. But that's OK, the biggest newspaper was owned by Rupert (and still is). Nothing different there. One of the closest parallels was Joh's relationship with the press. He used to call press conferences "feeding the chooks". Now I don't think that DJT would know a chook from a blue heeler but the attitude is the same. I will say Joh was funnier about it. I have wondered how Sir Joh would have responded to a pandemic or social media. I can imagine Flo having a media team to Instagram her pumpkin scones. 13

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted May 20, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 20, 2020 Mooring awl, inner Temple Hare, Just 2.5 hours sleep so far, Gwiwir's T shirt would be most appropriate. Too warm upstairs for sleeping. I've woken with a stiff right shoulder, wrist and hand. Some minor pain. Yesterday's muddling of tiny radar was making of the core of the aerial, involving much scaling of photos. A holiday camp less than ten miles away has had problems with the idiots, removing barriers at the gate, coming onto the closed site, using their site to access the beach. People in the nearby village have found tourists urinating in house doorways as the public toilets are closed, as is everything else. I notice on TV yesterday a doctor was particularly scathing about the orange ones latest idiocy. She mentioned one of the side effects of the hy...lotsofcomplicatedword, that he's taking, is the loss of hair, it's certainly less orange than it was... Brain is thinking of today's future work on the shed, first thing will have to be a review of the parts left over, before commencing the porch.. I don't want to run out part way through. I'm going to have to use untreated wood for the reinforcement of the shed roof , so painting them will be required. This lockdown is exhausting my stocks of wood, which is actually a good thing, I've been using stuff left over from or bought for other projects. The slabs were waiting for me to make a pathway between the raised beds, also not yet built. The painting of the reinforcements , will be a case of whatever paints I have left. Now I've cooled down a bit. Time to roll over and get more sleep. 4
