I was born with just one ring and have always had just one ring. Is there any advantage to having more than one? I thought it was a bit odd that they would be broadcasting it in Vienne. Eventually I realised they were actually speaking German and it was a Swiss TV station. I was in a bar in Amsterdam many moons ago and there was a Western movie on the tv, when the Indians turned up they were speaking in English for the "foreign tongue" the Dutch might not have understood. The barman was laughing and saying we could understand at least half the movie. It was hilarious watching this Indian Chief with war paint and a feathered head dress on speaking with very old fashioned BBC accent.

Popular Post Simon G
Evening all, This is the first time I have checked in today, as I had been feeling carp all day. Woke up with a headache and haven’t been able to shift it until now. Net result is that I haven’t done much in the garden today, despite the nice sunny day, though I did manage a nice sit down and a short time half asleep. On the subject of airports and airlines, I remember many years ago when we were flying from Malaga back to the UK probably with Monarch, and we were slowly taxiing to the runway, when the pilot apologised for the delay in taking off, and said that we were being held up by a Sleazyjet plane in front! Being in West Cumbria, we don’t have a local airport. The likes of Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Glasgow and Edinburgh are all about 3 hours away, so no quick easy airport runs.
RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted May 5, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 5, 2020 Just out of interest Simon, I've started a thread for the railway pictures that I've scanned, "Jamie's random railway pictures." There are quite a few of the Ratty in the mid 70's and will be more. Jamie 15

RMweb Gold Popular Post tetsudofan Posted May 5, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 5, 2020 Evening all, Having lived in Japan for many years I got used to seeing the azaleas in full-flower at this time of the year especially round Hibiya Park in front of the Emperor's Palace. Since returning home I've been planting azaleas around the garden and, at last, they are flowering in reasonable numbers but it does get annoying when something else in red tries to push in and show off when I'm trying to take a picture..... And I only partly miss them.. My flying days are definitely over and starting to use my miles to obtain a new IPhone! No more using them for upgrades or holidays, etc. The very thought of getting up early just to beat the traffic to the airport, then wait a couple of hours to board just doesn't appeal any more. My first trip on a PAA 747 years ago was just as the guide books said, great service, good food adequate room even in economy and the 'stews' (as they were called then) were often young and attractive. My last trip was in Business, for obvious reasons, was better in that there was no smoking but the flight attendants had got older and plumper, but just as nice and helpful. It will not be missed! There are indeed some heavily-disguised blessings in all of this. I too had thought this project would no longer be required. I'm sure given the size of the bill to pay for 2020 that a few other big-ticket vote-losing projects might also be canned. The tomato plants arrived earlier. A goodly amount of the dreaded G-word was indulged in. The block gardens now have potatoes, courgettes, runner beans, tomatoes and lettuce growing. Plus an array of flowering but not particularly edible things although SWMBO assures me that nasturtium leaves and flowers are in fact plate-worthy items. I was wary of "zucchini flowers" until I tried them (stuffed with soft cheese and deep fried for a couple of seconds in a light beer batter) so maybe nasturtiums aren't so bad after all. The hands are tired. The knees are tired. And the eyes are tired. It must be time to rest them along with the bits around and in between. G'night all. Sleep safe and well. 16 1

Not United then. Some of the seniors in flight attendant roles are right harridans. I have to approve of the evolving non-discriminatory practices in staffing for flight attendants. It is right and proper. Having said that I had opportunity to fly on Kingfisher (the now defunct airline owned by the dodgy Mr Mallya who also founded Kingfisher beer / water). Their staffing was pure retro. The flight attendants could have been clones and fit an exact silhouette (either fore and aft or side to side) such that the uniforms might have only been made in one size. Every representative of that airline I interacted with took customer service to a superlative level. 15

RMweb Gold Kingzance Posted May 5, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 5, 2020 Eveninkawl, Today went much as anticipated, legs have been exercised with only themselves as company, garden mowed, fish bought and eaten, a certain amount of sitting with SWMBO whilst the television was on has been part of the day too - me being dutifully quiet and non-confrontational. Hopefully the management at the Station House has enjoyed her day so The Stationmaster will be in good(ish) books for several hours/days/weeks/months ahead, dependent upon how deep his pockets were. The next birthday in our extended household is our eldest granddaughter's early in June. Somehow I think that may pass without us being present but who knows. 17

FRA and CDG are really ghastly (take the TGV to Paris if you can) and whilst LHR is only mostly ghastly, LGW - to me - seems like the airport designed by Michael O’Leary.... Yes, FRA and CDG are really ghastly. MUC is nice. ARN and HEL are OK. LIS and MAD are not special. AMS is curious. In some ways with its spread out, long terminal piers it is almost as bad as FRA when changing planes, but it doesn't quite "feel" as bad. Perhaps it's the tulips and chocolate shops?
RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted May 5, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 5, 2020 Evening Awl, It appears one parcel has arrived in leicester, quite why there and not Snetterton I don't know, but they are promising delivery tomorrow. Why just one parcel when they were both together in Aschaffenburg is another mystery. I hope it's the frame because then I can get started. At the MhRC I made like a green man, much sanding of the HF 200, covered in green dust, I've decided to use the same paint as on the T84, now it's mixed to the right colour.. When I returned no Ben.. He stayed in his bed looking sorry for himself. Apart from the long walk, he spent a lot of the day dancing backwards wanting to play with the wheel barrow wheels as I pushed it along.. His age is catching up with him. Muggachoccy time, Good night awl.. 3 2
