One virtual round coming up..... I was the only one in the office today, unsurprisingly. No balloons, card, dancing girls, signed framed piccy for the wall.... Oh well.... One highlight of the day was seeing a home video of "Miniroll Mate" clipping his dog's toenails.... Take a load of clingfilm, wrap it round head, spread peanut butter over head..... Crouch on all fours. Dog so busy licking head that doggie stays perfectly still and takes no notice of what's being done to his paws. Works a treat. I work worked with some f. weird people.

That must be an internet trend. I saw a video a few weeks ago of a woman doing that. She had the good sense to mention her peanut butter did not contain xylitol which is very bad for dogs. 7 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post Dave Hunt Posted April 30, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 30, 2020 Welcome to Codgers World Polybear and many happy returns. Apart from some domestic niffnaff and trivia as flagged up earlier and an hour in the shed this afternoon, today has been largely uneventful. Had a shouted conversation with some neighbours at the 8 o'clock clapfest and talked with a couple of friends on the 'phone so isolation hasn't been total. Jill has decided that we are going to spend tomorrow in the shed, her doing watercolour painting and me modelling so I must have done something right. Hobnobs and dark chocolate digestives rule chez nous and at the risk of hearing the approach of a thundering pachyderm, my lemon drizzle cake is rather good. Have a good evening or whatever portion of the 24 hours is next in your part of the world. Dave 20

I was born to be a firm Cadbury kid but recent events mean that Cadbury's in the US are made by Mondalez , a conglomerate including Kraft. Since then they changed the recipe to American tastes which means added sugar. Fortunately you can still order direct but that gets expensive. To add insult to injury, I have recently become addicted to Australian Tim Tams so Aussie and British tastes must be similar! Brian. 16

RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted April 30, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 30, 2020 Evening all from Estuary-Land. I broke the bathroom scales this morning. They still work perfectly but they now have a hole in the top. The hole matches the ball of my right foot, what happened was that the bathroom gets sun all day and the sunlight has affected the plastic top making it brittle. So its a new pair of scales next time I shop. 4 hours ago, Gwiwer said: And if Noah was so good why are there no unicorns today? http://omf.blogspot.com/2007/05/how-long-o-lord.html I thought we were promised unicorns by Nigel Farage. 2 hours ago, tetsudofan said: Evening, Been rather wet on and off down here in the south east corner, just happened to look out of the window and caught this pigeon taking a shower on the top of the Tea House: Stupid bird doesn't realise that its dry under the roof. 2 hours ago, polybear said: Seems I'm now a Pensioner Bloody hell. I received an email from Margate advertising a replica. I noticed the reference to a schmaltzy, 1945 show tune by Rogers and Hammerstein. It is with great wonder to me that tune is so well known in Britain and almost unknown (other than as part of Carousel) in the US and that it is (so I read) embraced as an anthem in the current crisis. I presume that Gerry and the Pacemakers and Liverpool F.C. are largely to blame. My favourite rendition continues to be that of Eddie the Shipboard Computer. Why "A world of our own" by The Seekers hasn't become an anthem of the current crisis, I cannot fathom. (Actually I can.)

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted April 30, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 30, 2020 Evening awl, we've had a huge downpour meaning instant big puddles, a venture into the garage shows one leak through a missed hole, and several leaks caused by water backing up through two layers at the overlaps. The expanding foam inserted years ago having failed I will have a go at sorting that tomorrow. Work on the T84 radar aerial supports has started with the first deck, here's a photo of the real thing being allowed to decay although it's a listed monument.. What they have in common is morning and afternoon tea. I have yet to encounter a British Monte Carlo. And indeed a British Anzac Biscuit - oh - wait - we had some in the Fortnum & Mason's assortment SWMBO bought for Easter. Every bit as hard and boring as their Aussie counterparts. Monte Carlos, on the other hand, are a snack in themselves and require neither dunking nor a second nor third one with the same cuppa. Afternoon tea - as we mentioned it - is definitely thought of as a British "thing". We have surprised a few guests by taking them to "tea" at Fortnum & Masons. The cucumber sandwiches really do have the crusts trimmed off, the Scotch egg is claimed as their own invention and is served delightfully warm and just slightly shy of hard and there must be hundreds of teas (and coffees) to choose from. One can even have a guided tea-tasting session with one of their experts. Tonight's perambulation took us down to the river which was not quite as wet as the roads. Heavy rain has brought down Spring blossom which has blocked drains and in turn caused a good deal of surface water to stand around doing nothing much. On the way back we were surprised to be delayed at the railway crossing at 19.55. The service trains are due through at 07 (Up) and 08 (Down) past the hour so we thought we had plenty of time in hand to get back for "The Clap". Instead an empty-car movement was put through and held us for five minutes meaning we arrived back "mid-clap" and hastily joined in. A rousing chorus of Happy Birthday was sung and Captain Tom was toasted with the last of the Talisker. A worthy way to drain the bottle, I thought. Following the clap several of us stood around the lawn, suitably distanced, and discussed next Friday. There will be flags, a red carpet to the door of our two most senior residents (both of whom have come through WW2 in the same flats they still live in today) and recorded music for a singalong including Mr. Elgar's rather famous piece. We are cordially invited to bring our own muggertea and sandwiches / cake. There is a strong sense of community Upon the Hill of Strawberries.
