RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted April 25, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 25, 2020 Morning again. 2nd cup of coffee being drunk. We have chatted to Rachel, Laura and Emily who is nearly walking. It's also obvious that she recognizes us on screen which is nice. Empty plant pots have been exchanged for full ones which are allegedly filled with , Cucumbers and other things. We shall. See. Over the past couple of days I've been scanning some 40 yr old negatives in honour of No 1 son's significant birthday. Just for a laugh here's me 40 years ago, or rather 4 stone less of me. Families have placed candles or lights at the ends of their driveways and stood there to salute the dawn. I believe a canned version of the dawn service was available online. Good morning all. It has dawned somewhat colder than predicted but the sun has burned through early cloud and we are warming up steadily Upon the Hill of Strawberries. A good night was not had owing to the large volume of pollen in the air most of which seems to have entered my nose and eyes. We are well-stocked with hayfever medication and have no need to trouble the local pharmacist. The Ocado order is nearly 100%; just almond milk and self-rising flour missing and the white wine subbed with a different varietal which is ok. Almond milk will have to be sourced for SWMBO who is self-isolating from dairy items for the time being after a painful attack of something earlier in the week which she believes is intolerance. That's fine so long as she doesn't develop an intolerance to me. Another small order has been placed for furtling requirements and to keep the good folk of Camborne in business. There is a limited supply of ground coffee (as opposed to tree coffee?) in the fridge. It is time to arrange a raiding party. Mugs-ho!!! Be good. See you later. Best wishes to one and all. 22
RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted April 25, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 25, 2020 Morning all from Estuary-Land. Happy birthday Dave and many more of 'em. A bit grey here at the moment but sunshine is predicted for later. Its been reported that theres two things that are in plentiful supply that no one has panic bought are chewing gum and mints suggesting that with social distancing fresh breath is not a priority. As I don't like mints or anything containing mint and never use chewing gum it makes no difference to me. 53 minutes ago, Andrew P said: Morning all, My Razor and I are doing as instructed, and have been Social Distancing. This morning will be spent in the cellar sanding down the legs of the old towel rail. After dinner than plan us to continue work on the turntable. Stay safe, stay sane, enjoy whatever you have planned for the day, back later. 16

RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted April 25, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 25, 2020 Morning all. Birthday greetings to Dave. It is dull and not quite as warm today. I have been assured it will be nice tomorrow. There will be no haircuts here. My nephew sent an amusing video of him getting his haircut by his girlfriend. I can’t remember the name for video made up from stills every few seconds. He looks just like his Dad used to now! Tony 18

RMweb Gold Popular Post The Stationmaster Posted April 25, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 25, 2020 Morning all, Happy birthday to our retied aviator - your 'card' is linked lower down this post (if i remember to add it). As elsewhere a dull start to the day but sol is doing its stuff and the sky is brightening. Mrs Stationmaster's shopping trip yesterday secured bith bread flour and some SR flour - the latter being given to our next door neighbour. Eggs have however become very hit & miss in Waitrose, they've actually got pullet's eggs in stock which is I think a first (is there a Mary Berry recipe that uses them I wonder?) but no large eggs unless there's one in the 'mixed eggs' apart from those in the Duchy Organics section, which seem to be priced in order to pay Californian property rents. The virtual SWAGday event is warming up nicely complete with a pub quiz this evening, great stuff. And as for haircuts my regular barber has been looking after me - thank you Mrs Stationmaster. I wonder if I could charge 60 quid for giving her a quick trim? Have a good day one and all and stay safe. And for Dave - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ie0YcOZATM0 20

RMweb Premium Popular Post 45156 Posted April 25, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 25, 2020 (edited) Afternoon All Finally caught up here, and all post read and rated - and the usual generic greetings are offered, with a special Happy Birthday to Dave. I think that as far as facial hair is concerned, I chose the worst of both worlds, with a goatee, which means that I need to shave the rest every day/other day, and trim the beardy bit about once a week. I use a quite old Braun which is great, but is now so old that the cutters are no longer available. No doubt if I opt for an equivalent model to replace it, I'll have to pay a fortune. Yesterday, I decided to mend the wonky dining room chair, and took it to the garage to glue and clamp it - only for the back rail to come away in my hand. Then 30747 said "you know that mine's wonky as well, don't you?" - well no I didn't, but that too went out for glue and clamp. So today, with the glue all set, I was about to take the two in, newly fettled, when it was "suggested" that I might clean and polish then, using a special wood cleaner, and Fiddes' Wax (brilliant stuff) - "oh and while you're about it, the others will need to be done as well now to match." Well, I guess they have been waxed a few times, but it is a ling time since they were cleaned and the old wax stripped - and 30747 would not allow me to sand down the legs and rails where our various puppies have chewed them, as "it's part of their history". Now waiting for delivery of the new microwave, which is due to be with us sometime between two and six pm. Of course, it will be delivered about five minuted after we sit down to dinner - and it won't matter when we sit down, that's when the doorbell will ring. Back tomorrow.
