RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted March 30, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 30, 2020 (edited) Good moaning. It's snowing here, quelle suprise. However that means no gardening today. Best wishes to The Lurker family, I hope and pray that you all go on OK. As it got cold and windy yesterday we didn't do a lot but did light the fire which actually stayed in overnight. After dinner we took advantage of the lighter evening and went for a walk round the village. As we passed we checked on a few neighbours including one widow who is on her own. That was worthwhile. Whilst keeping our distances she gave us a dozen eggs as her hens have apparently gone into laying overdrive. When we got back another couple were rung then TV was watched. Best wishes to everyone and hope you keep safe. Jamie Edited March 30, 2020 by jamie92208 19 1
Popular Post Erichill16
Quote Morning everyone, Just about to get ready for work. Not sure I’m really needed at work but must go to show a united front. I will not sit at home while they were exposing themselves to virus. May let them take it in turns to finish early but we’ll have to see how busy we are. Keep safe and well Robert
RMweb Gold Popular Post BoD Posted March 30, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 30, 2020 Morning all. It is Valerie’s birthday soon. Lockdown came before I had bought either card or present. When I do our weekly shop I will try to remedy this. I fear a supermarket birthday card and ‘garage’ flowers will have to do, if indeed any are available. I could start a new wave of panic buying here. Stay safe and well. 15 5
Popular Post AndrewC
Greetings all from the boring borough. Best wishes to Mrs Lurker. The household lurgy/cough/whatever continues. Not sure what it is as some of the symptoms are related but others are the opposite. Wet as opposed to dry cough. The aches and lethargy in both of us mean it could just be an extended cold and sinus issue. Its been dragging on and off for 2 weeks now. Meh. Our Easter visit to the offspring in Carlisle is now officially off. SWMBO is now packaging up a care package to be sent. This will be the first time in about 15 years that we haven't been together to watch that most holy of Easter movies. Life of Brian. More ID-10-Ts at work. The useless excuse for an engagement mangler has manged to fork up the scheduling. She's got me triple booked next week then nothing at all. Others have the opposite. Hopefully she will be "politely" shown the error of her ways in the morning meeting. How do they find these people? How do these people remember how to breathe? Very little (buqqer all really) accomplished this weekend apart from moving a few plant pots and some other outdoor tidy. I'll leave it at that. Coffee's siren song is calling. 1
Popular Post BlackRat
Greetings one and all from an overcast Kernow........ Strange times....... we walk most days ( back probs have stopped us running) around the Tamar/ Lynher estuary, and usually can guarantee on not seeing a soul ...... now it's like everyone is in training for the Duke of Edinburghs award! People still driving to walk dogs ( including an ex plod Superintendent....which just confirms my long held opinion of plod hierarchy) and generally not keeping their distance. Off to the pharmacy in a mo ..... volunteered to deliver prescriptions.....if only to get me out and on the bike for a bit of fresh air and to keep the bike ticking over. Put up some Christmas lights yesterday......across the front of the house, they are the old style ( never chuck anything away) and the small bulbs can be swapped over. Luckily I have a big bag of spare bulbs ( see never throw anything away) of different hues and today's task, amongst others will be to swap some of the white bulbs for blue....... so we will have a blue/ white 'support the NHS' string of flashing bulbs. Bit of a pointless futile exercise but still....... every little helps. My very best to all, keep well and stay safe. 26 2
RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted March 30, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 30, 2020 (edited) Good morning all, Rather a dull and chilly start here with a cloudy day and scattered showers forecast. 12 hours ago, Barry O said: While the NHS is doing a great job they seem to have dropped cancer patients like a stone. Not sure that this is a "good" thing. Not good at all Baz but I believe that really difficult decisions are being made because the hospitals need to balance the treatment against the risks posed to patients with weakened immune systems. Obviously there are a lot of very upset and worried patients out there whose lives may be shortened because of this. There are also some very upset NHS staff having to deal with them and speak to them about postponed treatment etc and I know one who although a very tough cookie has been in tears on more than one occasion when she gets home. She doesn't have to tell them in the first instance, that is of course done by the medical staff, but fields multiple phone calls and up till now has dealt with them face to face and a lot of them are people she's got to know quite well. The Boss continues to improve to the extent that she actually had 3 small meals yesterday. Tea has been taken up and I can hear her stirring so there is a distinct possibility that Daily Orders will be resumed. Have a good one, Bob. RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted March 30, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 30, 2020 Good morning everyone Another dull start to the day here in the northwest of England. Breakfast has been consumed and I’ll shortly head off to attempt an early Sainsbury’s Grand Prix, I may be some time. If the queue is stupidly long, I’ll give it a miss and head to Waitrose a few miles away, where there isn’t usually a queue. Once back I’m hoping to make a start on the pointing below the cellar window. Stay safe, back later. 17
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted March 30, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 30, 2020 Morning all from Estuary-Land. A bit grey this morning but at least the wind has dropped. Will have to venture out to Tess Coes for bread and milk, and some fresh eggs, fruit and veg if available. 1 hour ago, Ozexpatriate said: I don't know if this would make the UK news and thought I would share. An Arkansas physician posted a picture on Facebook of his son and himself separated by a glass door. (Working at a hospital he was making sure he remained physically separate from his family.) This got picked up by the national media as an illustration of the "new normal". About a day or so later his home was destroyed by a tornado. Story here. At least they're all OK. 16 2
Popular Post bbishop
Lurker, It will be wise to isolate as a family for 14 days. Follow NHS guidelines and I've summarised my latest LAS guidelines, (which came as a PDF so I can't copy). Patients will need plenty of water and paracetamol (don't exceed dosage on packet). Plenty of hand washing and sanitising. Patients dispose of their own waste - if into plastic bags, double bag and keep separate for two days. Shoot the family cat. Bill PS - not the last one! 13 1 4

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted March 30, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 30, 2020 Back from the expedition to the outside world. Arrived at TES and Co to find a long queue, carefully arranged so you could get a trolley without going through it. as I joined the queue the doors opened and we all started moving crossing chalk 6ft markers to the door. Inside they'd been busy with the haze tape, marking six foot intervals , and in some places direction of travel. Everything on the list was obtained, bread was fully stocked, as was milk, eggs plenty available even if in smaller sizes. Frozen foods fully stocked, Large quantities of loo rolls, with just a few brands missing. Exit was via a firedoor further down. 21
tigerburnie
Morning, best wishes to all who ail and all power to their elbows for speedy recoveries. We have sunshine and a cold wind, probably spend a fair chunk of the day working on finishing the edges of the new wildlife pond. We dont have our own cat but one that visits from next door. my other half loves cats but we are (in normal circumstances) away too often ot have our own cat. I did tell her about that it is possible for dogs and cats to pick up the virus but not for them to pass it on. However I have mentioned that she should wash her hands after stroking next doors pussy! Been on to timber merhcants but only doing delivery but not to our area. most merhcants now only supply to essential businesses so the only two that will deliver (Wickes and Lawsons) both show earliest delivery in 2.5 weeks time so work suspended on the new high level test circuit. No rush for me when there are more essential places after such deliveries but I do see that any other businesses having to stop if they cant get materials. I see that Squeezyjet have now stopped all flights. Just seen a FB post from Surrey CC regarding cutting down on recylcing / bin usage but we are going to have more after receiving the letter from Bojo - does seem to be a bit of a waste of resources sending out letters to every household when its on TV all the time. My other half has just had an email to say that a work collegue in their New Jersey office has died from the virus. My friend who has it, is now getting better. RMweb Gold Popular Post Shedman5 Posted March 30, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 30, 2020 Morning, dull and grey here though the sun is trying. to appear. Just back from a walk to the local post office/corner shop and picked up milk. I counted nobody on the way there and nobody on the way back leaving the young girl serving as the only human being encountered. Shed work has come on leaps and bounds over the last three days and it seems I will finally finish the last scenic section! Other than that not a lot to report. Take care everyone 19
Popular Post bbishop
Layout building in Time of plague! (with apologies to Aleksandr Pushkin). Having built the five baseboards for Blindheim, I made a "lying in the bath" decision, that they had to be increased from 8 to 12 inches deep. So two sheets of plywood required but everywhere closed other than Wickes with two week delivery time and a total cost nudging £40. The only spare plywood was the already painted backscene boards. So I've unscrewed the three layout boards and have replaced them with the backscene boards. Of course, with nowhere open to purchase plywood, the foregoing layout boards become the backscene boards. Track on order from Gaugemaster, everything else from the last 40 year's accumulation (the benefit of a never know when it might be needed mentality)! The next job is fixing the boards together, normally a two person job but in the time of plague ..... I've already switched on the heater in the garage. RMweb Gold Popular Post BoD Posted March 30, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 30, 2020 (edited) No walk today. Oven cleaning time. I have cleaned the glass door and shelves, and have brushed the inside with the cleaning gunk. Having a cup of coffee whilst waiting for it to do its stuff - then comes the messy bit. I wonder how many extra trillion zillion bytes of storage RMweb will use before this virus business is all over. RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted March 30, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 30, 2020 (edited) Morning all. We have a medication collection to make this morning. After that we don’t think we will have to go anywhere. Aditi’s GP brother who has to work from home is the GP for a nursing home. He is doing a virtual ward round tomorrow. The tiny nieces are under strict instructions not to disturb their Daddy while he is working. However the patients probably would like to see the girls.Yesterday the younger one clearly thought she was the first child ever to photobomb the family video call. RMweb Gold 81C Posted March 30, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 30, 2020 (edited) Morning All Irksome out there I tried to start the day as normal as possible chores done tidy up a bit have lunch soon and get the paint out this afternoon, It was the normal gloom and doom on TV this morning so it was turned off but there was a glimmer of hope today that the virus has slowed down it's hoped the measures in place have done the job it's still 2-6 weeks before anything like normality will return we live in hope. On Facebook there was a bunch of Pride followers in Reading trying to buck the curfew rules over a demo' about a chicken restaurant I thought that lot had more sense clearly not the case in that town I hope it doesn't start a trend within the group, aren't people #ecking stupid. Enjoy it the best you can there are people worse off , stay safe. M.I. Daynoose. Edited March 30, 2020 by 81C correction to story
