Sadly the friend no longer has cows, following the foot and mouth outbreak, so my bulk supply of manure has gone.  I would be only too happy if someone was to dump 12 cubic yards of it on my drive now!

Afternoon awl,. 

The window in the garage is fitted,  about 2 hours to do the brickwork, another 2  to fit the window in the new hole.. Tomorrow it's just tidying and trim work.

 

Some one mentioned Atholl and A-hole I'll merely point out Atholl was originally spelt Athole recently enough for the station to have that spelling at one time.. 

 

After that Ben the now snoring Collie took us for the full long walk,  I note down on the fields by the marshes there are still puddles.  But the rest is turning to concrete,  the crops are very sparse.. 

 

I've just been out for necessities,  there were a lot of people about, gardening,  walking the dog or child. A couple on bicycles young enough to be still in lust with each other,  and probably not of the same household. 

An unusual amount of cars on the back roads,  including a Cockwomble woman with left hand holding phone to right ear,  while turning a corner on a narrow country lane.

 

This evening I'll go to the MRC.....

 

The temporary one down the garden in the mobile home..

 

But first an eyelid inspection beckons..

Yesterday very busy with the client "changes".

Had a virtual Happy Hour with the company I'm part of, 60 folks on Zoom, quite enjoyable actually.

 

We then supported another local restaurant/watering hole by getting a take-out from them - another kerb-side pickup pre-paid so the only exchange was the handles of the bag, dutifully wiped with Purell by the Mrs.

We're also attempting to make face-masks for the health care crisis, some supplies still missing.

 

This AM - again resulting in a late report from me - another panic and major flustercuckery on some reports as they are having a board presentation THIS AFTERNOON and want changes in place for that

Pity they can't somehow decide that auditors are NOT necessary in any way - even in regular times

 

Was actually planning on taking the day off today before the early AM phone call came in, so will attempt to POE if possible!

 

Will be going to the liquor store today, a pre-order and kerbside pickup to replenish the diminishing supplies of wine and gin

 

6 and pleasant outside, supposed to reach 13 but cloud over some later.

 

Take care everyone, thinking of the ER group and their families and friends.

Afternoon All

 

Managed to get back for a read off all posts - read and rated - and to wish everybody the greetings that they deserve.  Bob - hope that the missus continues to improve - I do wonder how many people have similar symptoms, go into self isolation and come out in the mistaken belief that they have had Covid 19, then go out and get it.  Let's not go there - I for one am NOT using 2m as a safe distance any more - more like 3.  I am just out of the at risk, must stay in for 12 weeks category, as I'm 67 coming 68 with insulin controlled Type 2 diabetes which is well controlled.  So I have been advised to take care and I am doing just that.

 

So today, we did more of the fencing, and have managed to stabilise all the loose posts, and will now be moving on to refixing and replacing the damaged featherboards which were damaged in the storms - all those weeks (and it seems like years) ago.

 

30747 decided that we will do our own thing to mark the contributions of the unsung heroes in the front line by stringing the outside christmas lights on the trees and hedge facing the road with a notice to say why they're there - actually emailed the BBC to say what we were doing, but AFAIK they didn't broadcast it.

 

Then we rooted out a number of the brand new jigsaws which we had acquired to sell at the car boots, which will not be happening anytime soon, and also some kids puzzles from the same source, and put them all out in a big plastic box with a note saying if you're bored, please help yourself, then pass them on to somebody else.  We'd only get about a couple of quid each for them, so it'll hopefully cheer somebody up and help them to pass the time - we've quite a few elderly couples and loners round here, so they'll all hopefully do somebody a but of good.

Not in the same league but my daughter was 'stood down' from the nursery where she works this afternoon because there aren't enough key worker/vulnerable children there to justify more than the manager an assistant manager being kept on.  Hopefully the promised government support will kick in soon.  Trying to convince her that things will be Ok in these unprecedented times and that when this all blows over the nursery numbers will return to normal and she can go back. 

 

I hope I sounded more confident than I felt.

Evening All word on the streets round here was the supermarkets are rammed all day, you can't get an on-line delivery. masses of shortages

I coasted into the usual Horrorsons carpark about 20% full normally rammed Friday anyway I grabbed a trolley and got in the queue of about 6 people twenty yards long

and I was inside within 5 minutes a guard was on the door checking people in and would you credit it some @rse tried to jump the queue just about everyone went for him he soon left,

I've got enough to see me through to next week apart from milk I will try and limit myself to 1 pint per day normal intake is 2-3 daily there were a few looking down their nose at people with

trolleys but they have locked up the larger ones, there are limits to 3 only of each item at least it seems to be sinking in around here I really did think I would come back with nothing today.

Good evening all,

Last  weekend I bought a couple of magazines to read during the anticipated shut down but haven’t had chance to open them yet. Hopefully that will be rectified over the weekend. Things calming down at work and spent most of the afternoon reconciling stock and ordering. Friend from the MRC came and did a few deliveries to ‘learn the ropes’ just in case we need him in case the regular driver gets the virus.
The weathers been glorious all week (if I remember correctly, it’s been a long one) but predictably it ain’t going to be so good for the weekend. May not be a bad thing though as it means more of a chance to get some modelling done!  
Another early night, not been sleeping too well. 
I hope everyone if keeping well and finding a little bit of enjoyment under these (choose your own work here as I can’t think of a word that describes them sufficiently)  times.

As ever keep well and be sensible (or you’ll have the police on to you)

Evening all, today was the day to brave the outside world, phoned chemist to check first then collect mine and SWMBO prescriptions, then over the road to the village mini supermarket(think slightly bigger than a double garage). Managed to fill a small trolley with enough to keep us going for a bit, only got bacon, no other meat, got milk, not the lacto free, but it will do I guess and a loaf of bread and a few snacks and some fruit and veg. Got some tatties from the farmer on the way back to our smaller village(4 miles distant). Decontaminated and sat down when a delivery arrived from Ebay…………….nope not muddling but a pond liner and underlay to make a wildlife pond. Started to prep the area, turf lifted, one old apple tree root removed, just one more small fruit tree to get out then proper excavation can begin. Ran out of puff so went in home and promptly nodded off for an hour, apart from the delivery man, the chemist and the lass on the checkout, no other persons were encountered and all at a safe distance.

Managed to get bogrolls, Sainsburys had loads.

 

Mrs mole rang this evening, at about £2/minute, to let us know she's stuck in NZ. Her offered flight to HK had no forward transit, so she wouldn't be allowed to board. She has to wait for flights to be arranged through the High Commission, along with about 20,000 other Brits. As she's staying with a friend she's just paying for her keep and Raglan is really nice.

That was the last 37 I needed to see, though I probably saw it's roof many times at Motherwell as 37 424. I even went looking for it at Oakamoor once. I finally saw it at Leeds in November last year.

Anyway good evening all.  I've just been out and taken a rather poor photo of an orange crescent moon with Venus above it. It's certainly dropped colder.  Anyway much more tree and shrub removal got done then we went for our allowed walk this afternoon in the sun.

 

One great advantage of the current situation is that the cold calls offerring loft insulation for €1 have stopped.  It's actually rather ironic as the French word is,    wait for it      isolation.

Unless of course you belong to the religious, sexual or ethnic group that is currently being the butt of humour. People who look of Southeast Asian origin have been abused more recently. Patients seem to think it is funny (only joking, ha ha no offence etc) to ask nephew’s girlfriend if she has brought the virus from Italy.

Just back from the MRC where it was me, myself and I in attendance at the Mobile home in the garden.. 

From being wedding cake white then new scenic sub board is now grey roads and undercoat green hills.  This immediately shows up errors so slartybartfast was called back in to correct things.. 

 

I must admit I'm feeling knackered,  I've not done several continuous days physical work in years.. I need to go back to work for a rest... 

 

The wind is building up from the best direction,  so it looks like the bonfire is on for tomorrow.

It was darn chilly walking back from the MRC.. 

 

Time to finish my muggachoccy

Evening all from Estuary-Land. Scrolling through a model bus group on Farcebook I came across this.>>

I recognised it straight away because I built it in about 1980. It was packed away for a house move and then forgotten for about ten years and then rediscovered and donated to the model railway clubs sales stand. It was in better condition when I disposed of it than it is in the photograph. I'd painted it using Halfords car paint rattle cans, Ford? Arctic White and Rootes Limelight with Humbrol green for the wheels, and my rather poor attempt to paint at a stripe at waist level. It has certainly been in the wars since as it appears to have been dropped a couple of times and the superglue I used to build it had 'gone off' and was failing to hold it together. The chap who obtained it has since stripped and dismantled it, rebuilt and painted it (in Greater Glasgow livery) and sold it on to another model bus enthusiast
