RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted March 19, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 19, 2020 Afternoon all, Apologies for the delayed arrival; this has been caused by a plethora of posts on the currently-busier topics. How long until the Self-isolation Support Group overtakes ERs for post count? I have initiated a social-media contact group for those at the House of Fun. Unlike company email groups this encompasses staff not directly employed by TOCs such as our agency Welfare Officers and security / crowd controllers. The aim is to have one point of contact which we can turn to. If we don't see someone we can ask how they are. If we are shut down (as is, it appears, very likely), made redundant / laid off (increasingly likely) or movements are more restricted (it's coming within hours not days we are told) we can keep in touch and keep spirits up. A welfare package arrived today from Ford so John DMJ and his colleagues are still open down the the River Arun. Long may that continue. Yesterday's shopping expedition was reasonably successful but with SWMBO now working from home indefinitely the consumption rate of a few items has changed. I shall have to seek out bread later today or first thing tomorrow; there is some about. Correspondence with Former Neighbours (Australian) who are now scattered to two corners of the Neverlands has established that three of them are well and carrying on whilst the daughter, now living elsewhere with her boyfriend, is unwell and both are displaying text-book symptoms of this virus. They have friends supporting them in their isolation. In other news it has been cold, drizzly and grey Upon the Hill and I now need chocloate. Probably in the form of a KitKat or Double Decker. Which is an excuse to relieve the corner shop of a little more flour, pasta and rice - one of each . Stay well. Best wishes to all. 16

Four-packs apparently counts as one item meaning you are allowed 36 toilet rolls if you buy three 12-packs. If you can find them, that is ......... 13
RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted March 19, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 19, 2020 While chatting by phone this morning we learned that one of the paramedic cousins was deliberately coughed on by someone he was helping who thought it was funny to tell him he had Coronavirus. He probably didn’t (was inebriated though) but apparently cousin Andy wasn’t amused. He is busy now, his wife who works in mental health support can’t exactly work from home, one child (active toddler)can go to a grandparent but they think the year one child may be better in one of the “key worker” schools. SWMBO loves courgettes. I do them “dirty” (Minds out of the gutter you lot. Dirty means cooking directly on coals or wood) on the bbq. Sliced in half, olive oil, seasoning, and cooked on the coals until the skin blisters. 11
Popular Post The Lurker
Greetings all from Sidcup WFH day 3. It's cold out ther but I have hardly been out, having had a coupel of long conference calls. Elder Lurker is nonplussed about not havihg to do A levels. His last set of predicted grades were better thn anything he has actually achieved so maybe a good thing for him; he didn't shine in his GCSEs. Now 2 of his subject teachers are self isolating he can't see the point of going in tomorrow although I suggested he might go and see good bye and thanks. Mrs Lurker as an SENTA may find herself backfilling and working at other schools including over the Easter holidays, despite us having a child with SEN.She doesn't know yet, but only gets paid London living wage by the hour (not paid for lunch etc). In the meanwhile she has to prepare a lot of work for her charge as his Mum will need guidance and suggestions as to get him to settle down to it. Its easier being strict with someone else's child in these circumstances becaue you know you are going home. Other than that I sneaked in doing some ironing which may or may not put me in the goodbooks. anyway, the boss has e-mailed so I hadbetter crack on! stay well all
Popular Post Ian Abel
BIN day, another group of people who we "need" to be working, glad they're out there. Yesterday a continuation of the same distancing, although we DID go get a take-out from a local run restaurant. They're doing kerb-side pickup, so no contact and we still think it's important to "TRY" and support those local businesses that are hurting. Jemma shopped for us, as she needed groceries also, and we took Whitney for a walk while she was running her errands. She managed to get her cell phone replaced, which was something she was worried about, so we are back in communication that way at least Will be another quiet day today, unlikely to get a walk in as we've got drizzle right now and it may turn to wet snow (60% chance) late evening with 1-2 inches of wet sh!t time we're done. 3 first thing, overcast/drizzle may make 5 for the high then dropping this evening to +1 Take care all.
RMweb Gold Popular Post Shedman5 Posted March 19, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 19, 2020 Afternoon, weather wise it's been a good day with sunshine and blue sky, have been out in the garden starting to knock off the jobs to do list. Downside is a few aches have appeared but a nice evening meal and a glass of red or two will sort that. Whilst our supermarkets seem to have no or little milk our local post office has plenty and the small corner shop is well stocked with toilet roll this obviously might change when the masses realise that they are driving past supplies on the way to the supermarket! Weather forecast is good for the next few days ie no rain so hoping to mow the lawns and continue the outside tasks! Enjoy what's left of the day Alan
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted March 19, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 19, 2020 (edited) Just got back from the shed doing some work. Other half is on a video conference with work so me sitting waiting for her ot finish then we go loo roll and food hunting. In the meantime I have been reading on FB posts by various bars that we know whihc are closing and have laid off staff, others trying to stay open with precautions in place hoping that they dont go bust as any Govt support will be too late by the time is received. Apparently one bar has sais that they wont get any rate rleief till about 6 weeks after the govt decision has been sorted so will be way too late for them. AT least one bar in deepest Cornwall has closed for good by the sounds of it but at least the proprietor is working for the present at a brewery. I feel so lucky that I dont have to find much work at present or travel into London. Some ta my old workplace are allowed to work from home but those on sites in central London are still having to commute into work. Someone spotted someone walking down the road with a loaf.. five mi utes later the gannets arrived. As they were in the queue to pay I started making sheep noises..baa, baa, BAA...whats that about then asks one of queue.. simlarities with sheep says I..it just bounced off..but one did say "Buying this as the six loaves I bought last week have gone off..onviously unable to grasp the idea of freezing sliced bread..or is their freezer full of bog rolls?? RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted March 19, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 19, 2020 We made it into Sainsburys with no queues. fresh produce stripped bare except for loads of bananas. Guess what we were after. Frozen food non existent apart form ice cream, same with bread bar a few rolls. We got a few items that we were after but none for mum as her local stores had no bread at all nor hand wipes etc. that a neighbour went to get for her. Nephew has arrived safely form Manchester. Trains were very quiet so little risk of any cross contamination. 6
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted March 19, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 19, 2020 Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Same thing in Tesco this lunchtime, empty shelves but a Model Railway magazine was in as well as some other none modelling magazines so if I have to self isolate I've got plenty of reading material. The sliced bread stodge aisles were stripped but there was plenty of in store baked unsliced varieties. Had my main meal when I got back, chicken and chips as I had to make room in the fridge for new purchases and that was nearest its use by date. 5

Warren, I have never/do not and will never enjoy decorating. It does get done occasionally but I have to be in the right mood which is very rare. Nothing, repeat nothing that Management can do, say or even threaten will change that. Ever! In fact the more she goes on about it, the longer it takes. After nearly 50 years of wedded strife bliss she does know this but as the leopard cannot change its spots neither can the She animal resist saying something. On this issue 'tis like water off a duck's back and I am resolute and will not back down. Anyway I haven't got sufficient materials and it has been suggested by those who advise those in power that I should stay indoors for 12 weeks so I can't or shouldn't go out to get some as it's not essential to our survival. So there! Edited March 19, 2020 by grandadbob 13 1

I put it on here from Facebook but it appears to have been 'pulled' for some reason. It was for a virtual show replacing Ally Pally and only commencing at 10 am 21/03/20. Kernow models are working on a virtual show at the moment but they are not ready yet. Perhaps we should ask Andy Y if a virtual show could be organized either here on RMweb or in a broader format. 14
