Ally Pally rightly cancelled.

Five minutes after posting on the relevant thread - there's a "can I transfer my pre-paid ticket to another BRM show?"

FFS.

Just had a message that Belmont Station in Portland has shut until further notice

They've not even updated their website yet! No doubt custom is down. I'm not a "Twitter" guy, but the mayor of Portland did send this out:

Quote

Restaurants, bars, small and large businesses...I know you’re hurting right now. I’ve heard from many of you, especially in the last 48 hrs.

We’re here to help.

In addition to focusing on public health, I’ve dedicated a team to focus on the economic impact of COVID-19 as well.

There's some momentum towards closing bars and dine-in options and limiting restaurants to take out only (as they are in the State of Washington) but the Governor of Oregon has not decided to do this yet.

Locally, events with more than 250 attendees are cancelled for the time being. I'm still hoping the next four weeks will see the worst of this.

I shall be having to visit both Tescos after work each day until items are bought..

You'll look forward to that with glee.  Not....

I don't disagree with your sentiment, but that's not the answer.

They've just told everyone on the six o'clock news that corner shops are much better stocked than the supermarkets.

This little Bear predicts large queues tomorrow.....

The best thing the Government could do would be to heavily censor the media, and stop all the horror stories and TV news reports of 100 yard queues outside costco and Lidl, as were shown last night.  It only fuels the numpties.

The same post, six hours apart.  Time for a lie down.  Or even better, hibernate and wake up six months later.  It'll save no end of bog roll, and I'll have four hundredweight of pasta to wake up to.

Peter BB has just sent me a message to say that the Great Central Goods Gala at the  end of this Month, and the Model Railway show in the big marque at Quorn in a couple of Months time have both been cancelled.

No doubt Peter will be on later to elaborate with more details.

And the Brewhouse in Santa Barbara has also closed for the foseable future.

I know we aren't likely to be on there for some time but sad to see how places around the world are closed for now. Another great bar only a stones throw from the RR tracks.

Evening all from Estuary-Land. Another show that has been cancelled is the South Benfleet show on the 28th. Luckily they've re-scheduled it for the 19th September. No news yet of two other events that weekend, the Brentwood toy fair and Southern Expo 2020 but I wouldn't be surprised if they are also cancelled. I've also ordered an ultra-violet torch from e-bay, Its one way of making sure that theres no viruses on a surface, a good dose of UV light. I've not seen it mentioned anywhere else, I hope it works. Time to put the kettle on, be back later.

After a "Presidential" press conference a few hours ago recommending people gather in groups of no more than 10, the Governor of Oregon has a few minutes ago restricted food/beverage service businesses to carry out and delivery only and restricted gatherings to 25 people with a request to limit gatherings to 10. Grocery, pharmacy and retail stores remain open.

EDIT:

In other news, some of the casinos in Las Vegas are closing as well. In the State of Washington, there is a long list of closed establishments not just limited to bars and dining rooms but including gyms, ice cream shops, tattoo parlours, wine tasting rooms and many more. It turns out that Washington and Oregon have some of the fewest hospital rooms per capita in the US. There are less than 700 ventilators in the state of Oregon - for a population of 4.3 million.
