The World Health Organization says the following:

This suggests to me that "we don't have an f'ing clue" how long the virus will live on a particular surface. Certainly it is highly contagious.

 

The good news is that surface disinfectants are effective.

It certainly is cold,  the venture down the garden, as insisted on by Ben the demanding Collie, shows the hardest frost we've had this winter. ( which isn't difficult this Year) .

One thing appears clear vis-à-vis COVID-19. Don't entertain the idea of cruising with Princess Cruise Lines in the Pacific Ocean.

 

Multiple news agencies have picked up reports that 19 crew and two passengers on the Grand Princess (currently off San Francisco) have COVID-19. This follows the shambolic treatment of passengers on the Diamond Princess in Japan.

 

I fully understand the sensibility of quarantine. Cruise liners are not suitable locations to quarantine people - unless you want everyone to be infected. Norovirus outbreaks are sufficient evidence of the vulnerability of cruise liners to spreading infection. (And yes, I understand that transmission modes for noroviruses and corona viruses are different.)

 

One of the late night comics has riffed on The Love Boat theme (as "The Bug Boat") tonight.

Morning all from a place where a miracle has occurred. It's sunny and not raining. I will be able to stack the two stears of wood in the dry today.  

 

Firstbof al thoughts towards Mick NB. I do hooe thst things go well with your brother.

 

Anyway, more holes got filed yesterday, 30 down, 6 to go on thus batch.  Underciat on both shutters.  I even mansged to make some bits of plastic and metal into something that rolls.  

 

The fire is lit and shortly I will away to the woodshed then finish the squaring of this batch of holes.  The aforementioned  object will also be tested on some parallel strips of metal.

Morning all from Estuary-Land. NB I hope your brother gets better soon. As you may recall my brother was in a similar situation over Christmas. He has now recovered and this Thursday just gone celebrated his 73rd birthday, spending most of it on dyalisis. Thats it for now, time to run a bath.

Morning all from a currently dry West Cumbria.

 

After a good day on Thursday, yesterday was not so good, all due to Coronavirus.  First the England 6 Nations game in Rome next week was coming cancelled, so no 2 son is very disappointed as he had tickets for the game and was going to catch up with an Italian friend.  Next no 1 son called to say that he had been due to go to Paris for a work conference, but that had also been cancelled.  Then we heard from some friends who live in France, and who we had planned to meet next month in Pontefract, when they were house sitting for their son, while he was away on holiday with his fiancée.  The son’s holiday has been cancelled, so our friends will no longer be coming to the UK.

 

Finally, our nosey neighbours took advantage of the good weather to be out overlooking us most of the afternoon, so Mrs G was a bit depressed over that.  Here’s hoping today is better again.

Baz, I looked at the Genesis tickets. Shortly after my wallet said no I saw an interview with them on radio 2. Collins didn't look at all well so I wasn't convinced it would be VfM.

I did however purchase tickets for Hackett for £46. Very enjoyable gig at pompei last year and who could say no to "Seconds Out".

Rather dull here but it should stay dry.

Sorry to hear about your brother's mishap Mick.

Absent  Thursday and yesterday as we were visiting friends in Angmering. It was very wet down there but a great time was had.

A quick walk to the chemist required and then my assistance is needed with a couple of tasks domestic.

Later today I will watching rugby and seeing if England can triumph or once again shoot themselves in the foot.

Also waiting for the arrival of Thames Water sometime over the next 72 hours as we have a shared sewer with a problem and  it is backing up occasionally.

Miracles do happen it's still not raining.  Wood is stacked, several days supply cut to length for burning and the wheeled object passed it's tests.  Tea and blueberry muffin (Not the mule you at the back) being consumed.

Pissitating here 

Up Early after a late night getting home odd how the weather can change in a few miles I was south of the Hogs Back most of the evening and it was 0c 

drove home about 11;30 and down onto the north side and it was 4c even at Farnborough airfield there are still many roads closed on the southside of the Downs I have been 

diverted twice in the past 2 weeks and again last night.

I've a problem with the bog it don't flush very well the cistern is #ecked I heard yesterday I can go ahead with the renovations subject to some jobs-worth saying yes at the freeholders office 

I've a kitchen sitting in the lounge and added to the piles 2 rolls of vinyl flooring for the kitchen and bathroom yesterday I'm getting p!ss off with them dragging their heels I kicked #rse Thursday

for them to move it along all the paperwork they wanted had been sitting in their office for 2 weeks I hand delivered it to make sure it got there. 

 

Have you seen Amazon today worth a look the usual idiotic adverts for certain item currently in the news.

Dipped in earlier and did my best at rating all as seemed appropriate. Tis second grandson's celebration of a decade of rotations today, I think I have a special present for him, a triple-ply roll. Rugby will interrupt SWMBO's charmless offensive, I may go to the pub to watch it (unless of course she goes out). What is it with the confusion between Coronavirus and Colonicvirus (as pointed out elsewhere on Wheeltappers)? So, after Genesis (a band I very much enjoyed) it is time to make an exodus and visit Grandson No2.......

It was a tight squeeze Baz. When I arrived at Valley the head shed guys took one look and said, "You can't fly the Gnat - you'll have to go on heavies." I protested that I'd been measured ar North Luffenham when doing the pre-course medical training and was OK but 'they' persisted until I caused such a fuss that a senior medic was fetched from HQ Flying Training Command and I was put into the cockpit with the lid down with him viewing from outside. Then in another aircraft with the canopy removed and the charges out of the gun in the bang seat, me and the seat were winched up whilst senior people various watched to see whether my knees would clear the instrument panel. Eventually 'they' admitted that I fitted - just - and I was allowed to fly the Gnat but there wasn't a lot of room. When I finished the course it was decided that I wouldn't be able to fly the Canberra or Vulcan, which left the only postings available at the time as the Lightning or Hunter. Since I came next to top of the course I was able to choose and since I loved bashing about at low level I chose the Hunter. The Gnat was a beautiful little beast to fly but it could bite if you weren't careful with it and we had a fair few accidents as a result.

Afternoon awl,

 got a little  carried away with the ivy clearance,  for a four foot depth half the back of the garage roof was cleared. This is the most difficult area due to enmeshed brambles. 

Stopped for a Muggacoffee...

Intended to go over to boat work, but SWMBO decide to help by clearing the stuff I removed from the roof to drop on the ground. .  So I continued. 

Did  the front 4ft depth, over 3/4 of the front, before my arms had enough.

Once I've done all the way round I'll need to get a couple of boards up there to spread my weight on the ancient asbestos roof so I can access the middle. But that will be next week... Or beyond. 

 

So tomorrow will be boat work, keel that is,  including some inkle frame construction  now I've all the bits. I need to drill all the holes in the frame,  assemble it show to SWMBO, if she approves disassemble and hand the frames to her for painting.. 

 

Time for virus prevention alcohol aka Highland Park  and an eyelid inspection..
