Lot of people seem to be suffering from acartohygieiophobia

Also sometimes "endrollphobia".

Whilst working in S. Korea last year I had great fun testing out one of these gadgets - it just had to be done, purely in the interest of science you understand....

All went well until I selected max pressure on the oscillating bum wash.  Almost blew my 'effin eyeballs out.....

The UK answer to the Laurence Welk Show (which they still run here on Sunday evenings).

Saturday night around 2000 or 2030, the tv was turned to the Welk show; Grandmother's orders! No exceptions, either.

90% of the deaths in the US from covid19 have been in Washington State!

I'm guessing that the good burghers of Gig Harbor have pulled up the drawbridge and set the ferries adrift to keep the Seattleites and their nasty viruses across the sound.

Amazon, Facebook and Microsoft are encouraging employees to telecommute. There are now 11 COVID-19 fatalities in Washington with 70 cases of the disease.

While I am sure that this will change (and quickly) more people were killed by tornadoes in the Nashville area a few days ago (~24) than have died as a result of COVID-19 in the US to date.

"Two-Way Family Favourites" sounds like a bizarre sexual practice.

It was a link between service families and relatives in the UK. Germany, then cyprus,  then

Singapore / Hong Kong then...electronic media replaced it.

I suppose the end of the Cold War, Denis Healey's decision to close most British bases East of Suez, and the handover of Hong Kong, pretty much destroyed the point as well.

Denis Healey has no choice..we were broke..

Handback of Hong Kong was way after Forces favourites stooped.

Specials have been run..esp including the Falklands.

One for Dave.

Sometime back we had a discussion about the missile with a man in it, the F104 Starfighter.

Here is the "wing" of an ex-Belgian F104 in NASA livery.

Leading and trailing edges were covered by safety bump covers. It was exposed in a couple of spots. It didn't hold a knife edge, but it was pretty pointy. I did not bring a measuring device and approximated with my thumb. The maximum depth of the wingtip is about 2".

Morning All,

It's a filthy morning in this part of the world.  We have heavy rain, but it is reasonably mild.

I had a trip to the dentist yesterday afternoon - fortunately everything was in order.

Have a good day everyone...

Mooring Awl, Inner Temple Hare, 1003/627

Not a good nights sleep about 4 hours followed by intermittent dozing..

I was wondering whether Alcohol based aftershaves might become popular again with the current viruses around, so I looked up old Spice...

From the Coshh leaflet..

We gathered round the radio certainly until 1963, but I know we had a TV for 1966 (I wonder why) .

Dick Barton was an old favourite of Dads, so if ever it was on we all had to listen.. Since it was stopped in 1951 six years before I was born we can only have heard repeats or watched the films..

Mum of course preferred the Archers

Time I went and warmed up the lab by measuring two 100 Amp Shunts..

oh the entire site is suffering from Broad band Bandwidth problems, Why .. they went over to MS 365 which is of course partly online and those who can work from home on laps tops are being encouraged to do so (about 20 people out of 100 ish)
