RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted February 6, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 6, 2020 When we were looking at estate agent leaflets for our first house purchase I noticed that the house we eventually viewed and bought had a primrose coloued bathroom. I mentioned to Aditi that I didn’t really like pink bathrooms. She quickly made me aware of my error. The main bathroom in this house is a classic early nineties colour “misty pink”. Sometimes known as whisper pink, probably in Germany. Tony 13 3
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted February 6, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 6, 2020 When I purchased this house the bathroom suite was a colour known as ox-blood. I had it changed about 10 years ago not long after I retired and the current suite is a light cream colour.
RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted February 6, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 6, 2020 (edited) Our “champagne” colour en-suite started to fall through the floor into the garage so it all got replaced with white (once the floor was replaced). My mother said she spent the war years really worried she would be called up to the Women’s Land Army. Her unpleasant older brother used to taunt her by telling her the conscription people were coming for her. In fact she wouldn’t have been 20 until December 1945 and so would not have been called up. The brother thought he was medically unfit but got called up into the Pioneer Corps. Tony
Ozexpatriate
1 hour ago, Tony_S said: I used Google to see what were popular colours for bathrooms in the US. Yellow is apparently “on trend”. Aditi told me that avocado green is making a return in the UK. I can assure you that the walls of my downstairs bathroom (like much of the house) are a boring beige with white trim. Canary yellow with white trim was a big kitchen trend some years back. One of biggest trends is ceramics printed in faux wood grain on walls as well as floors. Shiplap walls were big. Subway tile is probably on the way out. I looked at the websites for a couple of big US paint manufacturers and didn't see a lot of yellow though the Sherwin-Williams website had a wide yellow and white stripe. After all the "mid-century modern" furniture of the last few years, inevitably the 1970s will have their revenge in the form of the return of avocado green, harvest gold, burnt orange and burnt sienna. When we once more see hessian wall weave and macramé planter hangers their victory will be complete. Do Britons say mah-crah-may (like I knew in Australia) or mack-ram-eh (like I hear in the US)? EDIT: We did have an avocado coloured rotary telephone, but thankfully no avocado or harvest gold major appliances. What is more he was obviously doing it deliberately because he gave the two finger salute to a few drivers and looked very pleased with himself. Then we came to a set of lights with a high kerb topped with railings on the n/s. There I deliberately pulled as far to the left as I could and stopped. There was not enough room for him to squeeze by on the left and he found that the driver behind me had cottoned on to what I was doing and had pulled up close behind me so that the cyclist couldn't get through. What you need is the Idaho Stop rule. In this case, a bicyclist can treat a red light as it were a stop sign and a stop sign as a "yield" / "give way" sign. It's pragmatic in so far as in low traffic they do this anyway an it encourages cyclists to get out of the way of motor traffic. 7

A friend was a fan of purple. She painted an accent wall of her dining room imperial purple and was very proud of it. I hadn't the heart to tell her what I really thought. 14

RMweb Premium Popular Post J. S. Bach Posted February 6, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 6, 2020 Late afternoon/almost evening owl from a very pi$$ingly wet Piedmont; oh, and my river is back! I got back from the income tax preparation folks and will get some modeling tokens, more than I expected! At first the refund showed $1900!!!; I knew that was very wrong and upon review, she found a number entered in the wrong box. After correction, the refund amount dropped quite a bit to a level that I expected. Oh well, electronically filed and now I will just sit back and wait for the direct deposit to show up. Yesterday was even better, my mortgage company called with an offer that will save me about a hundred buck each month, the offer is legitimate and I will go for it. 18

The top half was white emulsion. Aditi saw something in a magazine and thought the white should be green. It looked awful. It took many coats of white to cover the green. She hasn’t suggested paint colours since. 17

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted February 6, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 6, 2020 Good evening everyone Well it’s been another busy day, it I’ve managed to get some circuit boards built, I’m just waiting for a few more components to delivered. This afternoon I made a huge pan of corned beef hash, we had some for tea, the rest (6 pots, each with 2 servings each) are now in the freezer. Time for bed now, goodnight all

RMweb Gold Popular Post Kingzance Posted February 6, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 6, 2020 At least I can settle down with a smile on my face after reading your recent posts - even if SWMBO is snoring like a good’un! I am also mildly happy as the two images I submitted to the photographic contest were judged somewhat better than the lowest scoring ones and I know now what would have raised one to a higher plane. In order to compete better in the next comp, I shall visit the Didcot Railway Centre a week on Wednesday for a series of steam related images whilst I shall take some of a saxophone (a case of “all the gear and no idea” I’m afraid) for the other entry. Bon soirée mes amies.

The kitchen cabinets in our house in New Jersey were a similar colour. They were made entirely of steel and I imagine they must have been pretty expensive. There was also a built-in, colour matched "Sub Zero" fridge/freezer. The kitchen must have been the height of fashion when it was installed. 17 1 1
