Slow start to the day as we were out late having a curry with Jayne - who was in good form we were pleased to note.

 

A day of searching in the garage loft beckons, looking for a couple of items we cannot recall if we kept or autojumbled away years ago.  Our garage loft would make Chrisf's tales of untidyness pale into insignificance......really. This may be the beginning of improving matters.  May.

 

Mrs NHN is off to be a female Robin (Robyn?) Hood for the day at the field archery club.  That bow is an evil looking device, keeps me behaving I suppose.

A benefit of downsizing and a minute roof space (ours is a one-and-a-half storey place now) is that we HAD to get rid of piles of carp. Of course there are things that we ditched that we could have saved but overall, except for SWMBO thinking everything in the garage is junk, we have now made life easier for our survivors when we fall off the perch.

Morning from a very frosty NE Scotland, some interesting thoughts about where home is, I've been quite a bit of a nomad over the years having spent time in Leicester where I was born, London, Amsterdam. Paris, Sidmouth, Derby, Barton under Needwood, Perth(Scotland) and Angus I can say I really don't feel like I have a "home" as such. I like where live(though being greeted by comments like "we don't hate you, but we do hate the English" sort of makes you feel less like being at home) I really didn't like living in Leicester where I originate from. I seem to actually belong up in the Glens with a fishing rod and no people for at least a couple of miles, I could easily become a hermit.

Exactly my feelings when I'm up there. 

 

The first inkle loom side frame has been made,  with help of sticky tape,  a trial once round of the string showed 1 rod position needed moving. 

Next week I'll make the second side,  work can't proceed further than that,  until various bits get delivered. 

I started cutting more rudder sections,  but the jigsaw is bending blades so not cutting straight I think the wood is too thick for it,  and it's eating Nano blades in the Bosch mini chainsaw.  

So I  gave up,  next week I'll dig out the table saw, which is probably more appropriate.

Morning all.

In preparation for swapping the car I cleared out the car this morning.

 

One particular lockable compartment that I'd not accessed for some years had a nice selection of cassette tapes and a large number of semi-liquid boiled sweets. Sticky enough to have given Paddington bear pause for thought. 

 

It occurs to me that the mechanics at the dealership may be too young to know what a cassette actually is. I shall explain that the orifice in the stereo is wide enough to take a number of CDs simultaneously.

All the major Hawaiian islands have populations of feral pigs. They are so numerous, destructive of crops, and occasionally dangerous to people, that they can be hunted legally at all times of the year.

Final day of dealing with the slapped #rse  I owed her £1050 as part payment towards the divorce her prat legal clerk asked for only £725 which I duly paid she said that I owed another £1050

having paid the £725 I said that amounted to £325 owing which I paid slapped #rse said its £350 she's off her trolley all ties have now been severed I will not mention her again sorry if I've 

p!ssed any-one off but I needed an outlet.

I didn't mention Fridays Babe she is an absolute stunner  and we are meeting for lunch next week with a romantic walk around one of the local lakes.

Work has stalled on the flat I have the chap who done work on my last house coming to see me soon to see if he can help out.

I decided to have a bit of time in TOSH(The Old Summer House) before the rugby as I had a premonition I might be in a poor mood later on. My new controller really is the business, getting used to running more than one loco at a time, only having one knob to twiddle(stop sniggering at the back there!) is something different from my old Gaugemaster unit lol. Did a bit more weathering of wagons and tried my first coach, not going for the real heavy stuff yet, British Railway did still employ a few cleaners in the 1950's...……………………….

Evening all,

 

His ladship is on his way homeward after watching his team fail to beat the Toon army's lot yesterday but then no doubt supping whatever ale he could find in Newcastle.   The highlight of my day, apart from propping (I hope) a couple of fence panels which have suffered posts broken in the winds, was going all the way to Tesco to purcahse that which the management had realised she had not purchased  there about 30 minutes previously - bloomin' busy there for some reason.

 

However the excursion fitted well with the remarshalling of the cars as we needed to changeover from yesterday's CPM formation to the MCP formation required for first thing tomorrow.  Tomorrow evening will see the formation alter to - assuming his ladship is on the ball when he arrives home tomorrow evening - CMP in readiness for first thing on Tuesday morning when the Oxford bound Corsa will be first out of the gate followed a bit later by the Camberley bound Mini leaving the Peugeot standing open for local trip working.  I think it's back to MCP for Wednesday morning - but it might not be depends on the Good Doctor's roster.  And if you think that lot is confusing spare a thought for the Catering Dept because the master roster, sorry calendar on the kitchen noticeboard, hasn't been completely updated for this week to show who is, or isn't, in when first  world problems.

Re: Cell-lot parking at airports.

MSP - very small lot, but always a space when we're picking up folks. It's righ next to one of the runways and less than 3 minutes to the terminal so I can watch/listen to the planes while waiting.

JFK - two very large lots BOTH a nightmare most of the time. Cabs, Uber/Lyft aren't supposed to use them (they have dedicated lots further away) but they're not policed so they're always extremely full of these "illegal" folks, and a real pain-in-the-arse to get out of due to the traffic in them. Can easily take 10 minutes to extricate yourself from the stupid lot. Net result, in classic NY style, all kinds of folks park along the hard shoulders on all the roads hoping to avoid being moved along, and causing even more of a mess

 

DON'T PANIC --> Yesterday, Feb 1st., seemingly a good place to start, was the day I'd decided I would begin to get my fat arse in shape

So, with the help of the Mrs (she's been exercising for years) I've started an exercise program! Managed a 45 minute workout with the aid of a YouTube program for seniors, and the Mrs commended me at the end of it with having made an excellent start, and I'm not too sore so far.

Will be doing another set after I post this.

 

Following that success, we shopped for the ingredients for one of our favorite dishes, shrimp/scallops with snow peas.

We managed to polish off a very acceptable TWO bottles of Bordeaux with dinner and are both none the worse for wear  Slept pretty well too.

 

Today, I've the day to myself, turns out the "Riverdance" excursion today is only for the ladies, Mrs, daughter-in-law and daughter-in-laws mum.

Dodged a bullet there

 

Unseasonably 3C and sunny first thing warming to 5 already and a high of 7. Snow starting to melt with the warmth, sun and a breeze.

Well, contrary to expectations I found both the items I was looking for in the garage loft.  Stunned.  It has never been known.

 

KZ, this IS the slimmed down version of junk  spares and useful things, we used to rattle around in a spacious and ridiculously too large Edwardian end terrace in Geordieland, and now reside in a modern 2 bed bungalow a small fraction of the size.  Our 'last house'.  We auto jumbled and scrapped 25 years of  junk bike spares before we moved over here, just keeping the essentials. Of course more has been accumulated since, but there's not the opportunity to do as much here despite the races, the small population keeps things tight.

 

Mrs H had a good shoot, beating one of the regulars who has shot for years.  Her mentor was chuffed, as the only other woman in the Manx branch of the club she is pleased Debs has joined, and even more pleased she has turned out to be a good shot and holds the female side up.  I await the day Debs beats her....... however that is unlikely as she is the world champion!  Nice lady too, very down to earth.
