Good evening everyone 

 

Another busy day here at BSW towers. Apart from all the eye care I’ve been doing for Sheila, I’ve done the 2 laundry loads I’ve done today I also made a small batch of potato, courgette and spring onion soup. But il also found time to do some soldering, I started by building a point control board to a diagram I drew up a couple of moths ago. However, during its build it became apparent that I needed to alter the board size slightly as the production model uses a socket for the relay and that meant that a couple of the components didn’t fit properly. So after I’d finished building that, I redrew the diagram ready for the next batch. A start was then made on building the prototype circuit board using the drawings I’ve been working on for the last few days. However, looking at the part completed I noticed a few mistakes, so a bit of unsoldering will take place tomorrow doh!

Evening all from Estuary-Land. Had a good evening at the SEERS meeting tonight, with a very interesting talk by Julian Drury the MD of Trentalia C2C. I found what he said about the moving block (cab signaling) that would give a 20% improvement in line capacity. He also spoke at length about ticketing systems where you can 'tap in/tap out' when you take a journey.

This was meds day for us. Dayle had Dental cleaning, then we to Dracula's lab and I went next door for an X-Ray. Well. The Dr had ticked the box for an ultrasound which was not a walk-in. The receptionist called the Dr to check; we had lunch then went home. Finally called about 3:30 that it really was an X-ray so I went back and had it. This is the other knee to the one that was looked at last year for which I am on Tylenol by the gram.

A fairly good nights sleep of about 6 1/2hours sleep with few interruptions .

Woke with a big headache though, probably due to  having a severely blocked  doze. 

 

Overnight there have been 30 messages between my sisters,  dads back in hospital , he's realized there is better pain relief in there.  The ambulance crew took him straight to AAU, it's better for mum he's in there, she's not been getting much sleep,  with him waking all hours of day and night and calling for help. 

It doesn't help when children proof bottles of oramorph,  mean they are old-age proof for arthritic hands.

 

Plans for today,  work,  carry on with the major system,  normally I'd run around doing extra bits and pieces when it's on its 40minute automatic sections,  but yesterday I was just too knackered, and sat by the equipment half asleep,  being prompted into action by the crash of relays as it stops, waiting for the next cable Change.  The relays aren't that noisy but you get tuned into them.  This morning there is the 268minute automatic section,  I might have to go find something to do during that though.. 

 

10 minutes till get up time I'd better not roll over or I'd not wake up in time. 

 

Time too ....stay awake..

It's a very strange morning weather wise.  The temperature is right up at 12°C and there is a curious warm wind blowing.  Very odd.

How to avoid delay repay Qantas style...

Text you at just after midnight saying your flight time has changed.

When you get to the airport for the original flight time (which the text said you must do)the flight leave time has changed again..so its even later than originally planned.

 

Keep texting with later take off times...so the plane isn't late....

 

The aircraft has been in maintenance in Brisbane for two days...so why is it late???

 

And ..gulp..its a dreamliner! (Boeing cannot design wings..all of their aircraft bounce a lot in any sort of turbulence)

 

25°C and cloudy at Perth airport. Watching the F100s, 717s,RJ125s 737s  787s and airbuses of various types take off, land and do the odd bit of taxying...

Good morning one and all, with thanks to Jamie for the thoughts.  Jamie is one of those remarkable people who knows me better than I do!

 

I kept busy yesterday, cooking lunch, doing a bit of m*d*ll*ng and enjoying some historic colour slides from the collection of Kidderminster museum.  The journey home via the A1 was enlivened by most of an album by Merry Hell, a delightfully raucous band from Wigan.  For the second night running I had to park across Mrs Electric-Chair's driveway so must move the car as soon as there is a place of safety in which to put it for unloading. 

 

Inevitably I spent some time yesterday brooding about the friend who is short of time for me.  I now have some idea of what I will do next.  This is to go back through the Messenger file one more time to check again that I have not missed anything from Himself about difficulties etc in dealing with incoming messages.  If the outcome does turn out to be a parting of the ways after 12 years, so be it, but it is not what I want.  I have my reasons.

Morning all. It's getting light here and a young lady is awake.  Breakfast is due soon. Some shopping to be done later, apart from that not avlot to report. I might well have a walk round the area and work out whhere the pit and the railway used to be in relation to the house. The Millennium  village as it's known is built on the site of Allerton Bywater colliery that closed in 1992. Opencast extraction continued for a few years using the Castleford to Garforth line and Ledston station was very close to where we are.

Happy backwards Day - well thats according to Alexa. Quite ironic compared to what happens tonight.

 

My brother comes back from Brussels today - he said that he will probably be the last  Nigel to leave Brussels. He and his wife fly back to HK tomorrow with boxes of face masks that should have been delivered by Amazon.

 

Back WFS (Working From Shed). Weathering complete to four On30 locos for someone. Just been testing that all pickups are clean and locos running smoothly. May even go back to the customer today. He has loads more to do. I think he has cornered the supply of Bachmann locos in this scale!!

Several shades of grey outside and a good chance of rain later.

Feeling a bit carp again but it's not the lurgi type thing others are suffering from but an old ongoing problem which flares up occasionally and is rather a nuisance.

Bob,  I fully intend to go to Alton tomorrow as long as the carpness wears off but I won't really know until it's time to go. 

Some domestic stuff to be done this morning along with some financial juggling.

On arriving home last night a full sheet of 3/4 inch ply was moved into the marquee, officially for Inkle loom making. But the majority will become the boat supports on the trailer.. Cutting will commence tomorrow, if nothing else, to get into more managable sizes..

Good morning one and awl. The Luigi lurgi remains and was unfortunately very intrusive at last night’s meeting of the local camera club, a body that seems happy to accept your ‘umble scribe and shutter operator as a member, in exchange for a bag of groats of course. The evening concluded with a pleasant and decent sized glass of Highland Park from the fellow (and better) photographer who lives round the corner and suggested I join that club in the first place.

 

Today will be mainly.... orders have not yet been posted but I need to sort out two images to submit in the open photo comp for next week. I have one in mind from the recent failed skiing trip but can’t decide on the second. Sadly, this old head has become an expert in procrastination and I do feel that I shouldn’t delve too far back into the album of life that is my photo collection. Were the weather to be dry and bright, I have a composition in mind involving eldest granddaughter and her little dog, both rather photogenic in my view, but it needs a bright day outside as it wouldn’t work inside. I did think of superimposing SWMBO riding her broomstick across the moon but there isn’t a full moon before the comp entries are due in  (he bravely proclaimed, safe in the knowledge that she doesn’t have access to RMWeb). I need to order the relevant basic necessities for going Ketogenic later next week, the cabbage dewatering regime has seen a positive effect to date, even if global warming is on the rise round here. Ooooh, and there may be some rugby to watch tonight and over the weekend!

 

Sincere sympathies to those troubled by illness, afflictions and illness of those close to them, also to those anguishing over relationships and pregnancies (should those be mentioned in the same breath I wonder?) May things get better by the day - one that I hope - in line with Mr Oliver’s exhortations - to gently seize rather selfishly and twist to provide an as yet unknown satisfactory outcome for me.

One thing is that it makes a nonsense of the predictions in several national newspapers recently that we are expecting blizzards. Grey here and a little bit too! As it’s a Friday that means I’ll shortly be heading to the Trafford Centre to pick up the bits and pieces I can’t get locally and I’ll return via the butchers where I’ll pick up the weekly meat rations and hopefully a pastie for dinner. After that I shall attempt to put right the mistakes I made with the circuit board yesterday. If the work in practice (as they do on paper) then I’ll make a permanent note on a revised drawing so the next one will be right!

Generic greetings, best wishes, commiserations etc  one and all.

 

Ive been popping in daily just to keep up with things but its been a busy few weeks.......went out for a ride one bright and sunny day and as I was pootling up the road various warning lights started angrily signalling to me ........

 

Turns out the alternator went....... so been busy stripping the bike down ( it's buried deep under the tank) sourcing a replacement, sussing the way it comes apart and putting it all back together again!

 

BMW quoted me nearly £700 for a replacement, £150 for a battery plus Labour plus vat and was looking at a bill of around £1500.

 

Managd to get a warranted replacement from a national breakers ( ex plod bike!) for £45 and an identical Excide battery from a local battery shop for £80.

 

Thanks to a little help from a friend, and UTube we managed it and it cost me £125, some skinned knuckles and a load of tea and bacon banjos.

 

OK, I had to spend out on some torx sockets  (£30) and a new multimeter (£9) but as they will be reused again I don't count them into the cost!

 

Much satisfaction gained when the starter was pushed and all did what it should, confirmed by a blast of a test run where the bike ( and me) were pushed to the limit just to make sure!

 

By my way of reckoning I now have £1200 to spend on goodies for the layout.....

 

So now it's time to relax......a weekend in Newquay with a bit of fancy dress and a posh do thrown in, lots to eat and great company so hopefully alls well.

Cold day for me.

 

Was going to take some good old Night Nurse last night but it went out of date in 2018 :/  Then found out half our medicines were out of date!  Odd stuff we've obviously bought.  Cleared that out at 8:00pm last night and went to bed.

 

Gonna have to buy some Night Nurse today.  It's expensive but great for helping with colds.

One of those old things me mother said that I'll tell my kids too!
