Popular Post Sir TophamHatt
Another chilly but foggy morning here in the Midlands. I have a talk to go to this evening about the Chase Line upgrade. Hoping to do a bit of "networking" but also means missing out on Steak night! I think I've cracked the fizzy drinks thing too. Have gone from 3 maybe 4 pints of cola/Fanta/other a day to maybe one a week! Hot chocolate is king in this office! 19

Popular Post tigerburnie
Morning bright and crisp up here again, more weathering powders have arrived, so intend some part of the day practising on some wagons before trying a loco or 4. 19

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted January 22, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 22, 2020 Morning all from Estuary-Land. A bit warmer this morning but a thickish fog earlier that has now cleared leaving everything decidedly damp. They've made a few changes to Basildon over the last few years. The Eastgate is still there, many of the shops have changed but not to many are empty. The smaller Westgate and the other end of the town centre also seems to be doing well. However the half a mile between the developements is a wasteland of empty shops made worse by a council decision to move the market to between the Westgate developement and the Towngate Theatre. The old market provided a link between the Eastgate and Westgate that is now broken. 11
RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted January 22, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 22, 2020 Good morning all, No frost today but grey skies and there may be some drizzle later. Late start again, I'm getting lazy. A visit to the Post Office is necessary as the Boss received a parcel yesterday but the contents were not acceptable so they're going back. "We" have decided "we" need some exercise so we're walking there and then a bit further afield. My Knee will decide how much further. Have a good one, Sir Limpalot. RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted January 22, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 22, 2020 Morning all. Happy Birthday, Mick. Will it be a train or golf themed cake? My trip to Basildon depends on what happens at the next heart test. This involves radioactive tracers. Anyway my wrist hasn’t bled this morning, Imhave started my new medication. The instructions about what I can’t do are being rigorously policed by Aditi. I am not allowed to lift anything, even a cup of tea with my right hand. She even insisted on cutting my lamb chop up for me last night to avoid straining the wound site (tiny hole not anything spectacular). So then, not a lot happening here today. RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted January 22, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 22, 2020 Good morning everyone A little bit late on parade as we both slept in a wee bit! There isn’t much planned for the day other than putting some whipped cream on the cakes I made yesterday and picking Ava, Evie and Max up after school. Although having said that, I’ve already done one wash load and a second one is now on the go! The grandkids will then be stopping with us for tea, chicken curry and will return home once we’ve heard from Vickie that she is back home from work, usually between 6:30 and 7:00 depending upon how much traffic there is on the roads. Happy birthday Mick. Enjoy the day, back later. 20 1
Popular Post Simon G
Happy birthday Mick, Not been here for a couple of weeks, as we have been away in Gran Canaria. It was nice and warm there, and we didn’t see a cloud for nearly a week. It is then a bit of a shock to return to a grey England in January, but we should be thankful it is neither windy or rainy just now. As a result, some garden tidying will get done hopefully today. We did a lot of walking in Gran Canaria, so currently feel a bit fitter, so we should also get a walk in today, to try to keep up the fitness. Later in the spring, we have a week in Scotland planned with some friends, with the intention of walking the Three Lochs Way. As the friends are used to long distance walking, we will need to make sure we are fit and able to complete the walk. 22 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post PhilJ W Posted January 22, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted January 22, 2020 Happy birthday Mick. Just had a call from my sister. She told me that my brother was still in Barts after his heart op. What has happened is a build up of fluid around his heart. He was instructed to take exercise after his op by walking to the end of the ward and back. This he didn't do because by the time he got to the end of the bed he was out of breath (due to the fluid around his heart). Problem was he didn't tell the medical staff about it so he's in Barts for the foreseeable future with another op to clear the fluid, what an idiot.
RMweb Gold BoD Posted January 22, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 22, 2020 Morning all. Many happy returns, Mick. As I mentioned earlier they have recently dug up our street/pavements and laid fibre. Received a letter this morning saying that they are going to start digging up the street/pavements to replace gas pipes. I know (hope) they will be at different depths and locations but surely it would make sense to have some sort of integrated plan. Oh, and in their mail shot type letter they say the work will commence on 43186. Any cryptologists on here? 1 1 11

The Lurker
Greetings all from a grey and cold LBG. Best wishes to Tony and I hope his visit to Basildon sorts him out. Beers tonight with an old friend who is down from Edinburgh with work - it's been a while since I saw him so that will be good. I don't vouch for head tomorrow....
Popular Post Ian Abel
Happy birthday Mick Morning all! Nothing useful to report from yesterday. On the "useless" front though - discovered somewhat by accident that my UK passport has expired and I need to renew it. This can all be easily achieved online; BUT WAIT NOT SO FAST YOUNG SKYWALKER -> if you are in possession of another country passport, you have to photocopy EVERY PAGE IN COLOUR, EVEN BLANK PAGES, and snail-mail them in, in spite of everything else (except, of course, returning the expired passport) including new personal photos and payment extraction, being possible online! What silly sod/rocket scientist (apologies to those in the profession) came up with THAT as a requirement?!?!?! <sigh> Today, lots of reports to adjust to fit the year-end numbers they "want to show" Later will be collecting Jemma from JFK as she heads out here to start a trip and will have dinner and overnight with me. Nice to have company for dinner here -6 and sunny driving in, high of 3 expected Carry on. 16 1 1

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted January 22, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 22, 2020 (edited) Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Still trying to sort out my gas bill. I've still no idea of what gas I'm using nine months after the not-so-smart meter was installed. I still suspect that it is not being recorded and that no one has made a thorough check so I've asked for the meter readings on which my statement is based. I still suspect that someone in Octopus Energy is going to have an O sh!t moment when they check the figures. Ah! . . . . you must have visited our fair County before. Tony, when I had my stent fitted, (11 years ago. don't time fly) they went in through my right wrist . . . No bleeding at all, although they did keep me in overnight. John Edited January 22, 2020 by Two_sugars 15
