Dryish out, but at 6c probably not going out on one of the bikes to the club today. Only one honey-do job on the list so you never know, mudelling may line me up for awl treatment later. It was certainly wet here last night, I liked Mike's 'floodlles' as an apt description of the road conditions. Since I got this car I haven't checked to see where the air intake is - I had a friend with a Flawed Fiasco who some years ago 'went big' through a ford to entertain his kids within - and bought a new engine as a result - low air intake. Any folk interested in the Industrial railway scene will probably have heard of him, the late Dave Holroyde - smashing feller much missed. OK, off to clear up breakfast mess and go all the way to Royal Ramsey. For another breakfast! Just the protein parts of a full Manx, as Q said, we T2's can gorge on that thankfully. Its reported this morning that an Edward VIII gold sovereign has gone for £million at auction. Like the 3d pieces only eight were produced but all were accounted for. As for the one pennies they were rare but not that rare, quite a number were circulated but as people collected them they became less common in circulation. Wet with hail earlier but now, looking a bit brighter. Good to see you posting, Ashers. Hope your recovery goes well and you can both can back to normal. Chr*****s seems a long time ago, but I miss the daily ritual of eating the best Chr*****s cake I have ever baked (family agreement on that!) but since then, I have found a brilliant recipe for an excellent non-alco alternative to mulled wine. The first version was overpowered by the smell and taste of cinnamon in the sachets of mulled wine spices of which there were only eight in the pack. When I ran out of those sachets, I looked at my box of Twinings Spiced Ginger teabags and found they contained similar ingredients to the mulled wine sachets. What a difference and just to my liking - predominantly ginger rather than cinnamon, leaving a nice feeling of hot ginger in the mouth! So, the recipe: Add 30ml Belvoir Blueberry & Blackberry cordial to a mug/glass. Place tea strainer/teabag holder over the cordial. Pour boiling water over the teabag into the cordial. Dunk teabag into the drink and infuse (briefly should be enough) to strengthen to taste if required. Remove teabag, drink and enjoy. Just the job to keep me going through the rest of the winter season! POETS day for me, but it also involves a journey by CrossCountry trains; it always amuses me when the Guard (or whatever they're called these days) says 'We hope you have a pleasant journey with CrossCountry" - two terms which in my experience and opinion are mutually exclusive. Bombardier voyagers must be the worst trains on the network, mind you the Hitachi stuff on the first leg of the journey (CPM to BPW) run a close second. Hope there's not too much tr**n talk in there. Yesterday I decided to tackle a job which had been the to do list for a while which was fitting thermostats to three remaining radiators , the others having been done by a plumber. I decided that I could tackle this job and save a bit of dosh. Draining down the system and fitting the new valves went smoothly with no problems. The fun and games came after turning the water back on and then balancing the system, air locks prevailed and after going up and down stairs numerous times to the radiators turning them off and back on in turn bleeding them etc we got there but I was knackered hence a quiet day today! Also glad, in a perverse sort of way, that Baz is getting wet. In other news they have decided to bring us in the North East into the 21st century and are paving the streets with fibre. Or at least burying it in the streets. Unfortunately they seem to need to close things off and then they only work in fits and starts, so access, parking and things in general are a nightmare. Yesterday only notable was the happy hour pre-choir and the choir rehearsal - we sing Sunday For Martin Luther King services. Blqqdy nippy when we got out of rehearsal, around -21 according to various sources! Jemma left on a short three day trip yesterday and we've got her car so it's not left outside at the airport (crew parking is in an outdoor/open lot) and then buried by the snow we're expecting! This AM, took Jemmas car back to her place, as we've only got a single garage now and I don't fancy having to get the expected 5-10 inches of snow off the thing tomorrow after cessation of the "activities"! Will be retrieving it tomorrow afternoon so we have two vehicles for various "separate" activities. Not quite so cold this morning at -15 (BALMY!!) retrieving the newspaper, and we're now just awaiting the snow - currently a winter storm warning in effect and snow due to start in a couple of hours. Chuckinitdarn now! I can hear it pounding on the new terrace--patio. And talking about the new patio, Youngest gave me a stone sheep to keep watch out there, tho it is keeping warm in the living room at the moment... (Well the telephone ringing with a 6 still showing as the first digit on the alarm clock awoke me.) Technically it snowed. There was a trace of snow on roofs and non-paved ground surface. A little of it is still in evidence but most of it has melted. The snow was a bit of a surprise. I retired under foggy and freezing conditions. At that time freezing fog seemed more likely. Some of the most spectacular wintry scenery I've seen was the result of a heavy freezing fog. I hope Sherry is well on the mend and Mr. Sick Note Chrisf get yourself some Benylin Mucus it cleared my cough up in a week. Tonight I'm having a look at a new dating site having secured one date I might as well keep my hand in and check out some more. Must get on not been here all-day thing need to be done.
